(applications are closed.)
opening october 8th at 00:01 GMT-8.
closing october 14th at 23:59 GMT-8.

SO, you've read the F.A.Q., the rules, checked that the character you're interested in is free and not reserved, and now you're ready to apply? Great! We're ready to accept you! The application description is below, and the form is ready for your copypasta convenience just underneath it! Please submit all applications in comments to this post with the subject "chara name | series". Have a seat, and drink some tea. We'll get right to you!

At this time, we do NOT allow application challenges. Sorry about that! It's all first-come, first-serve. You can apply for TWO (2) characters per round, with a maximum of SIX (6) characters allowed altogether.

RESERVES are not necessary. We run on a first-come, first-served system, but if you reserve your place is guaranteed for apps.

REQUESTS will always be as clear as possible on what we believe was lacking and expect to see written into the application, but feel free to ask for clarification and we'll reply as soon as possible. You have seventy-two (72) hours to revise, or your application will be revoked. Although you're more than welcome to ask for an extension if for some reason you're unable to complete in time, within reason.

REJECTIONS will also have clearly-stated reasons, and you'll be more than welcome to re-apply next month. However, we ask that if you're rejected three times in a row, you please try your hand at another character.

WHEN ACCEPTED, please read and follow the directions in the welcome copypasta closely! We don't ask for a terrible amount, but we do note that some things are mandatory for the game and it helps greatly with organization!

DID YOU PLAY IN HOLYRELIC BEFORE? We have a special rule for that! If you're repicking a character you had in HR before we closed previously, we're upholding our promise that your character can come back with their memories, THREE (3) event items of your choosing, and half of their levels. (I.E: Gauche was level 42 thereabouts, he'll be 21 to start.) Just comment to the apps with an updated player/character section to reclaim! No need for samples. :)

Applications can be screened for privacy after they've been judged, so please add a note if you'd like it screened.

SERIES: The series your character is from; anime, manga, book, television, video game, you name it! Just give us a link.
CANON POINT: The point in time that your character is being applied from.
APPEARANCE: A link to an image, and/or an optional description if there's anything not covered in the image.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: The class you'd like your character to be! We ask that you follow any canon inclination towards fighting types and state what they were previously, but if your character is someone that has never held a sword before, never took karate, and comes from a regular world with no magic, please provide a brief reasoning as to why you've picked what class you did!
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: ONLY FOR PLAYERS FROM HR'S LAST INCARNATION! Please note what their halved level will be and the three event items you'd like to keep. :) (if this doesn't apply to you-- 98% of you-- just remove this line. ♥)

PERSONALITY: Your character's personality; this needs to be written by you, though! We'd like at least two solid paragraphs, although three would be great!

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: A first-person sample-- or a journal/action post-- in the game's context. Anything you might use as a post in the game would be just fine here, but you don't need to use what you put in your application as your first post! Please do keep in mind that while journal posts are more natural to write for samples, we have no network in The World-- everything is face to face. All entries to the main community will be action posts! :)

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: A third-person sample-- or log style-- that accurately displays your character's personality and motivations. Setting doesn't matter! We just ask that you please not write a sample about your character first arriving, because it greatly limits their usual personality and reactions. We aren't too particular about length but please write at least two or three paragraphs so we have something to work with! Also, if you've previously been accepted with another character and you're currently in the game, you do NOT need to write a third-person sample!

CHARACTER NAME: Marth
SERIES: Fire Emblem
CANON POINT: Soon after the events of Shadow Dragon.
APPEARANCE: Doop doop girly princey man. Taller than Link, which... totally counts as a measurement of height okay
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier because of his canon fightity style, and because big classy swords for big classy manly men! Right?!
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: N/A

PERSONALITY:

Marth is mature and clever beyond his years-- as one has to be, when faced with the same situations he has lived through. Though sensitive at heart, and still just a youth, Marth constantly puts his duties before himself. He sets high, near-impassible goals, and will do everything in his power to achieve what he must for the good of his people. Those who know him well would call him somewhat of a perfectionist.
His workaholic attitude can put a great distance between himself and his friends, as he mostly ignores their advice and concerns for his well-being in favour of 'doing the right thing'. Though he loves his close friends dearly, Marth believes that his destiny is not his to write; there is too much at stake, and when the fate of the continent rests on his shoulders, is it any wonder why he'd be afraid to stray or falter? Dragons aside, the boy would take on the troubles of the entire world if it meant peace was to be achieved. Guilt of being helpless, of watching his country and family fall as he fled, still stings in his heart- now that he is grown and able, the prince yearns to protect not only his fallen home but all he happens to meet.
Though raised on memories of tragedy and thoughts of revenge, Marth has a kind heart, and does not judge men simply by the colour of their banner. Many of his enemies' soldiers ended up joining the League at his invitation; perhaps it was not only his charismatic skill that drew them to his cause, but the kind, honest soul behind the words that everyone put their belief in.
Though undeniably noble, and an excellent leader, Marth is still somewhat of a child, and has his moments of naïveté. He is particularly awkward around children and women, wherein they often leave him at a loss for words, and nine times out of ten he'll embarrass himself.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

[muffled; seems like someone's sitting on his Relic. You know, like a smooth person.] Ooogh... my head. Merric? Caeda? What hap--

Oh.

[Cue shuffling and scraping, as Marth gets his bearings and back onto his feet.] What's this, now? It's like some strange little... machine.

What exactly is going on here?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

Another day, another event. It was not something Marth was used to-- though there was some semblance of 'schedule' here, it was far different than his royal duties back home: a routine that he had, since the end of the conflict, just been settling back into again. The atmosphere, too, was different-- in a way, relaxing, as he felt the pressure lessen. No great destiny was piled upon his shoulders here, nor an army to look out for, or a great dragon to slay-- ah, one might have spoken too soon about the dragons.

In trying to find some semblance of familiarity in a place as strange as The World, Marth happened upon the idea of creating a guild. It seemed strange-- there was no real goal in mind for it save for the nostalgia, perhaps, but what could it hurt? There was always, of course, some joy in bringing people together under a common cause. Now to think of one...

He racked his brain, but alone, the idea seemed to rattle idly in his head, largely uninspired. With a soft sigh, the prince brushed aside errant strands of blue hair and stood. Perhaps a walk would do him some good, and it wouldn't hurt to get some opinions from the friends he had made here. Even in a world so unfamiliar, companionship was truly what made it go 'round.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Beatrix
SERIES: Final Fantasy IX
CANON POINT: Post-game.
APPEARANCE: ba-dum
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Edge Punisher. Her only sword in her game is a two-handed blade called Save The Queen, which has always been classed as a greatsword throughout the FF series. Whilst her canon class is 'paladin', she has only a limited pool of admittedly impressive holy powers, with her main strength being her implacable sword skills, so her canon skills and spells will be enough - as far as I can see. she doesn't need to multiclass into Harvest Cleric or anything like that. She's canonically 'the best swordsperson in the land' so. SWORDS SWORDS SWORDS. :|b

PERSONALITY: Beatrix is a woman who experiences the shattering and reshaping of her country, her loyalties and her love throughout the course of a single game. She can be viewed in several stages: we are first introduced to Beatrix the Arrogant, legendary warrior and General of the Alexandrian army so intent on wiping out the other populations on their Mist Continent. A name feared and respected in equal amounts by all who seek the warrior path, she is both physically and mentally strong, having achieved the highest military rank and a reputation across the land for her prowess. And boy does she know it. She is fully aware of her ability, her determination, and her drive to succeed, and she isn't afraid to say it. She comes off as conceited, though it's more a full understanding of her own power - not once does the main party come out of a battle against her victorious. This pride - this self-awareness - is one of Beatrix's key personality traits. She's good, and she knows it. She has trained for years, taken part in countless battles, and sworn total and unending loyalty to her country to get where she is. It's unsurprising that her reaction to a challenge by an ordinary thief is amusement followed by a mocking claim of humiliation. Her reputation is as much a weapon as her sword.

Loyalty is her second incarnation. Beatrix has sworn allegiance to Alexandria, and continues to serve despite the obvious misgivings she harbours about the methods her Queen demands. Only when she is faced with the order to kill her Princess does she rebel, swearing fealty to the daughter rather than the mother who has gone so astray. And when she changes sides, she does so without shame and without hesitation. She rejects her old oaths, even as she accepts that this makes her a traitor deserving of death. She cannot ask for forgiveness for the atrocities she committed in the name of the queen, but so long as she does what is right and just, she can atone even slightly by securing the future. That is her belief. As she would treat any other deserter, so she expects to be treated herself. In fact, her reinstation as General by the newly-crowned Queen Garnet is as surprising to her as anything, but who is she to question the decisions of royalty? Beatrix will obey any order without remorse or hesitation, to the best of her considerable ability, even if that order is to once again serve the country she betrayed.

All in all, Beatrix is a proud and noble woman who treats all with impeccable manners and unswerving dedication. She is a leader, and a damned good one at that, and her ability to inspire both fear in her enemies and respect and adoration from her people is a marker of such. Strong, implacable, and a role model for her forces, there is no greater ally.

CHARACTER NAME: Riku
SERIES: Kingdom Hearts
CANON POINT: The Dark Margin - Pre-Receiving Kairi's Letter.
APPEARANCE: Boom Boom Pow!

DESIRED CLASS & REASONING:

Adept Rouge: He fights using both a weapin as well as magic based attacks. Because of this, I feel that two classes would suit him much better than any one could.

Blade Brandier: Riku is a keyblade wielder in canon, and this is the class that best suits that. He uses his weapon one handed, and although it would be possible for him to dual wierd, he never actuallty does so. He's also rather strong, but not the stronger character in the game, and although he's quick and agile, his slightly bigger size does tend to slow him down. Because of this, this classes skills suit him best.

Macabre Dancer: Riku uses magic with his keyblade. In fact, he has a special set of spells and attacks that are purely magic based that only he uses. His heal stats are also the best in the game. I feel that, because of these two things, this magical class would suit him best.

Riku || Kingdom Hearts || Not Reserved 2/3

[personal profile] dawnsguardian 2012-04-07 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
PERSONALITY:

During the events of the original game, Riku appears to be a clam, cool, collected type of teenager, who is not afraid to go or push beynd his limits. This is most clearly shown when he shows no fear of stepping into the dark portal that appears on Destiny Islands the night he, Sora and Kairi make their departure. He willingly steps into it while the rest of the island, his home, is being consumed by darkness. It is during this moment when he first states that he's not afraid of the darkness, or what lies within it in a bid to convince Sora to come with him.

He also seems to be quite aware of Sora's more romantic feelings towards their mutual friend Kairi and even goes so far as to tease him about it. A good example of this can be seen in the way he often challenges Sora, making the prize something that he knows will impress Kairi, such as well he sets up a race between himself and Sora, stating at the last minute that if Sora wins, he will become the captain of the raft they are currently constructing. He goes on to say, however, that if he wins, he gets to share a papou fruit with Kairi, something he knows Sora wishes to do. Although he later says he only made the bet to see the reaction on Sora's face, even going so far as to chuckle while he says it.

Early on in the first game we also learn that Riku has a strong competitive streak that can often be mixed with a bit of jealousy. He seems to enjoy showing off how strong he is, often choosing to spar with other kids his age on the island, just to show off. Through out the game, he often mentions that his heart is strong than Sora's, as if everything about him must somehow be better than his best friends. During the events of the game, he also becomes quite jealous of Sora, due to the prodding of Maleficent and her influence over him. This feeling continues to grow, more and more, as he learns of Sora's journey. He's jealous over the fact that Sora possesses the keyblade, when he feels as though he should have been choosen as the rightful keyblade master. The jealousy slowly turns to rage, resulting in him turning his back on his best friend, even going so far as to fight him willingly.
He allows himself to be willingly manipulated by Maleficent and later by Ansem, Seeker of Darkness. This shows a great weakness within him. A need to be wanted and needed by someone, and most namely, Sora.

His traits, unfavorable as they might be in the original game, drastically change as time wears on. In Chain of Memories, Riku comes to a series of important relizations. One of the most important was that he had allowed his heart to become weak. Starting from that moment on, he bagan to shy away from the darkness he contained within his heart. It is after the numerous battles he is forced into during his time within the castle that he comes to another important realization. That he'll never be entitrely rid of the darkness within his heart. But the difference between early on in the first game and now is that he make a decision that will lead him through what ever challenges he may face, and do so without bringing more harm onto those he feels he's already betrayed. He will use the darkness within him, but he will do so without turning away from the light as he had before. It is with this that Riku seems to have matured the most, leaving some of the events of the past behind him, showing a want to move on with his life, and to become a better and stronger person.

During the second game, he shows a great amount of loyalty and care for his friends, although those traits have always been there, just hidden under other emotions. In order to save Sora and wake him from his year long sleep, he does everything that is within his power to bring Roxas to DiZ, the man he had aligned himself with. He does this in order to make Sora's memories whole again, not only because Sora is, in a very real sense, the most important person to him, but because he has come to realize that Sora is in fact the true master of the keyblade. Without him, the work that still needs to be done will never happen. In order to acomplish this, Riku fights Roxas, and looses, but because the weight of what he must do is so great, he chooses to immerse himself within the darkness, a decision which changes his appearance. With the possiblity of being stuck in the body of Ansem forever, and with Sora now awake, he chooses to hide, not wanting to show Sora what he's become. This shows a need to protect his friends from the darkness that lies within him, as well as the darkness that's around him. The perfect example of this protectiveness can be seen while he and Sora are fighting Xemnas in the void. He willingly scarifices himself by throwing his body in the line of one of Xemnas' attacks that had been aimed at Sora. Instead of allowing his friend to take what very well could have been a death blow, he knocks him out of the way, a move that leaves him serverly injured. This also shows that he often puts his friends above himself. He does, however, leave Sora clues along the way, helping him figure out the mystery behind Organization 13, one that Riku already has completed. This shows a want and a need to be by his friends side and help them in anyway he can, even if he has to do so in secret.

When Sora finally catches up to him in The World That Never Was, he shows a great regret for what he has done, even if he does acknowledge that there was no other way. He admits to Sora that he didn't want him to find him, not in that form. Even after he had been returned to his nature form, he expresses a fear of returning to their home because of the mistakes he has made in the past.

Since he was young he has been painfully curious about the worlds outside of his own. Over time it appears that this naturual curiosity has become more of an obsession, leading him to think of his home as little more than a prison surrounded by water. This is why when the Heartless began to invade, he willingly let them into his world through the Keyhold of Destiny Islands, in exchange for a trip to another world. This obsession, as it were, seems to fade greatly during the year of Sora's sleep, more than likely because he has already seen and visited many other worlds. When he finally returns home during the second game, he makes the comment that it's still a small world, but he agrees with Sora when he says that it's part of a much bigger one. This shows that Riku has formed a much healthier view of his home and the life that he would lead there.

Even though he does mature significantly over the course of the series, he continues to maintain some of his more original traits. He has a good, strong sense of humor that allows him to laugh and be the teenager he really is. He also has a strong sense of pride in everything he does, and so he strives to be the best in everything and do the best he can at what ever task he is given. These things can make him appear as being cocky or overly confident, but he is neither. He is confident in himself and his abilities, although he no longer shows off the way he once did. He no longer feels the need to. He's grown in a more nature, cool, calm, collected version of himself.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Raine Sage
SERIES: Tales of Symphonia
CANON POINT: Post-game, but before the two years prior to Dawn of the New World
APPEARANCE: I think this should suffice.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Harvest Cleric. She's the party's healer in canon.

PERSONALITY: Raine is many things: a teacher, an older sister, a maternal figure, a healer, and a half-elf. All of these play into who she is. Let's go in order, shall we?

Raine is pretty much the lone teacher in Iselia. Every child in the village attends her classes. Even the occasional student outside the village (I'm lookin' at you, LLoyd). Oh, and she's not just "Miss Sage", "Miss Raine" or just simply "Teacher". She's called Professor. She's kind of a big deal. She is an intellectual, constantly thirsting for knowledge, then passing that knowledge onto others. One of the titles she receives in-game implies that she enjoys that, too. She also fascinated by magitechnology, just about anything scientific, and most of all, ruins. When one of these things REALLY sparks her interest, she goes into a frenzied "Ruin Mode" where she completely loses her cool in excitement over what triggered her Ruin Mode in the first place (or anything related).

Her being an older sister and a maternal figure go hand in hand. A good part of her life has been spent taking care of her younger brother, Genis, starting when the two of them had been abandoned... and keep in mind, this was when Genis was an infant and Raine was only eleven years old. After being sent through the Otherworldly Gate, Raine spent five or six years wandering Sylvarant, trying to find a place to live... while at the same time, taking care of an infant. She never really had time to play "big sister"; she's been the only maternal figure that Genis has known. She is very protective of him--and to a degree, relies on him when it comes to domestic work. She's not afraid to discipline Genis (or Lloyd) and she has a tendency to correct Genis (and Lloyd) should they misbehave; this is typically done with a slap to the back of the head or a kick.

Raine, being a healer in canon, can be very hard on herself if she fails to save a life. This can be seen when she fails to save Governor-General Dorr with her healing artes, and the deep regret she feels afterward. She hates this and will attempt anything to change it.

The one thing that affects her personality the most, however, is the fact that she's a half-elf. Raine is not very trusting of others and very cautious. She prefers to approach things realistically and worry about the long-term consequences of the actions of her and others take in contrast to Lloyd's idealism and acting on impulse. Major examples of this are when she cautions against intervening in Cacao's execution in Palmacosta and is hesitant to heal Sheena in Luin. A lot of this distrust stems from the betrayal she feels towards her mother and the general mistreatment of half-elves. Raine is cool-headed but sincere; she says some fairly harsh things to Lloyd because she knows that "he will overcome them." (Though, by the end of the game, she does seem to be attempting to get over these trust issues).

TL;DR: She's cool, calm, and intelligent, with a caring side, some mild trust issues, and a huge fascination with ruins.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: A weapon I'm familiar with using, powers that I know well... in a way... Hmm, well, I suppose this could be worse.

[The Harvest Cleric looked around as she walked. She then sighed, coming to a stop.]

Though, I must wonder if Genis is all right without me. Leaving him alone like that... We were supposed to be traveling together. [She sighed again.] I hope I can get back to him soon.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: Regardless of whether or not you'd just saved the two worlds and helped unite all of Aselia, advocating half-elven equality was a difficult task. Ozette, Sybak, and Meltokio were likely going to be the worst, and Raine knew this. That's why she had intended for her and Genis to avoid those three cities at first. There was a certain method to Raine's ideas, all erring on the side of caution.

You never knew what sort of people would be out there, after all. Genis mostly did various writings talking about half-elven equality; Raine did most of the public speaking. That was what came easiest to her, being a teacher.

She had just finished one of her speeches. A glance to the sky told her it was quickly approaching sunset. She decided it would be best if she made her way back to the inn, especially since it would take quite a walk. Genis was supposed to meet her back there, since he had spent the day about town, restocking various supplies and whatnot. On the walk back, Raine received jeering words from various naysayers about her speech previously. They stung, but... they weren't unbearable. She was above retorting with a rude comment back. It was pointless to argue.

There WAS one thing she missed about teaching in Iselia, though. She wasn't going to have papers to grade back at the room in the inn.

CHARACTER NAME: Neku Sakuraba
SERIES: The World Ends With You
CANON POINT: Post-Game
APPEARANCE: NOT A SPICY TUNA ROLL, OK? Ok.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Twin Blade! In The World Ends With You Neku relies heavily on his speed and agility to defeat the Noise. As a Twin Blade user, he'd be able to use that speed to his advantage. He's agile and quick, but not deft and focused enough for a heavier, single blade. (Plus, Neku is the protagonist of the game, so clearly he must fall into the 'Twin Blade' category. Clearly. )
hedgephones: (Default)

[personal profile] hedgephones 2012-04-07 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
PERSONALITY:

Some may say that Neku comes off at first as biting, indifferent, and all around like he just doesn't give a damn. In part, that is true. Or at least, at the beginning of his adventure of self-discovery (also known as 'The Game's Storyline).

Neku was selected as Joshua's proxy primarily due to his chilly attitude. Neku enclosed himself in a small world where the only concern was himself. Other people did not matter. In fact, social relations were sticky, dangerous, and just something he didn't want. He had his values and he'd rather others not shove theirs in his face. He would tune out the world around him with music and pretend that behind his headphones, only he existed, and that his world did indeed end with him. As expected, he was not originally a people person, nor did he find much compassion in others. One could say he started off as a "loner" that did his own thing, suffering from the occasional "teenage angst". It wasn't uncommon for him to shut other's out and tell them to get out of his face. People being close to him was problematic and he refused to connect with them, let alone have a decent conversation if he could avoid it.

That was, of course, until Joshua's Game turned him upside down.

Through the three weeks of torture Neku was put through, he began to learn how to deal with both people and the world around him. Essentially, he opened up. Due to the nature of the Game, Neku was forced early on to place his trust in another. Without that trust, he'd certainly lose the Game, and his life. There was no choice. As time went on, trusting the other person - albeit a Partner or Player - became innate. They were all in this together, right? There was some sort of common humanity that made these strangers sufferable. Neku began to see these people as more than just blobs that annoyed him. They had personalities, feelings, and were making him care about their fates. Whether Neku liked it or not, his world was expanding.

As Neku comes from the end of the Game, he has changed a considerable deal from the prickly pear he used to be. Now, Neku believes in others, and doesn't think the world is such a biting, stifling place. People aren't so bad, and if they join together - work together, laugh together, cry together - maybe anything is possible. Or maybe he's not reached that point of optimism yet, but he's certainly no longer pessimistic.

Regardless, he has friends now. Friends he believes in and seemingly would do anything for. Hurt any of his friends? You're on his bad side. Friendship, while cliche and kind of mushy and crap, is important to happiness. Vital, even. The Game taught him that, and he no longer is as adverse to social interactions. That's not to say he's the friendliest person you'll ever meet, but he isn't prone to tuning out the world anymore. Not as much as he used to be.

In the end, he took Mr. Hanekoma's advice to heart. He opened up, expanded his world, pushed out his horizons, and let others in. He's still your average teenager with a not-so-average past, he's still Neku, he's still got a love for ignoring the stifling individuals in society ... but he's warmed up.

Maybe the world isn't so bad, after all.

...You're kidding me. [ Because he had played quite a few video games in his time but this. This was straight out some high quality, intense sci-fi bull shit. Or something like that. ] ... Someone went all out.

[ Until he noticed a chim chim... ] ...Uh? [ Is that thing alive? Okay, curiously going over to inspect it, but thinking better of it because, well, it's a bit unnerving. It almost reminds him of Shiki's Pig-Thing. Which was enough to make his stomach churn on its own. ]

Weird. Damn...if I had my pins this wouldn't be a problem. Argh..
[ Was he EVER getting out of here? ]

ooc note: just in case it helps, kat and I did some test-drive here for additional first person sampling for Neku!

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

There was something extremely unsettling about being away from Shibuya that Neku couldn't quite pinpoint. He figured that by now, after a week, he'd be used to this place, that Mac Anu would come to be a familiar name on his tongue ... but it hadn't. He felt off. He felt different, out of place, and alienated all at once.

The fact that he had strange clothing and weaponry now that weren't his Pins was unnerving enough, but compound that with the fact that he felt like he was in a really, really bad 'RPG' ... and you had a vague idea of how discomforted Neku was.

Not like he didn't try to make the best of it, but it was hard. The fields were nice, and the missions were interesting, to say the least. There was a certain rush that came with completing a goal - a task - that he had almost missed from his time in Shibuya's Game. Then again, the very thought of missing those three weeks, that had been so hard for him, made his stomach churn restlessly.

Yes, there was something off about this place. No matter how much he practiced with these swords, he couldn't quite get the swing of them.

Maybe he'd just have to focus more on the bigger picture. Or maybe he'd just pretend the enemies were a certain giggling asshole. That'd help, right...?!

Man, he could use a bowl of ramen right about now...

CHARACTER NAME: Jiang (Boyue) Wei
SERIES: Dynasty Warriors (based heavily on his appearance in Dynasty Warriors 7)
CANON POINT: after Xiahou Ba defects to Shu, before the first assault in Shu during the Jin storyline.
APPEARANCE: boop
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept rogue ( Lord Partizan/Shadow Warlock). In his own canon Jiang Wei uses a spear as his main weapon and favours power based weapons but at the same time he serves as his kingdom's strategist following his teacher's death a more "intellectual" role that I equate with a caster role. In addition to that in Warriors Orochi 1 & 2 Jiang Wei's special attack involve sorcery and he makes use of lightning elemental musou attacks in Dynasty Warriors 7.

PERSONALITY: Jiang Wei has been called a prodigy, talented, pure, earnest, serious, dedicated and less flatteringly, obsessed. They are probably all accurate descriptions. He has a sharp mind and perfectionist tendencies that both support and hinder him. He is someone that dedicates all of his effort and energy to any task that he is set to. Because he devotes himself so entirely to the cause though he becomes too emotionally involved, something his mentor cautioned him of. Though talented he becomes inflexible because he is so wrapped up in the ideals of those that have passed on and eventually exhausts himself and his resources.

In spite of his intelligence Jiang Wei in a field of schemers seems honest and straightforward. He gives the impression of someone who dislikes deceit even though he understands the necessity of it under certain circumstances. That’s the side of him that does better as a warrior than a strategist, it suits him put his spirit into his weapon and to push against adversity in an honourable fight. As a leader though he puts the lives of his men above his own pride, if he has to be a bit underhanded to save a comrade he will.

He’s the kind of person that follows rules and hierarchy (for better or for worse), even in cases where he possesses greater insight than his superior he will defer to their decision. He will also never complain about having to clean up the mistakes of his superiors. He’s naturally polite and respectful, it takes a lot for him to lose his temper (though not necessarily his cool) and there are very few people he would speak poorly of… at least until he’s been exhausted by his own failures. He takes everything to heart and given what he’s been through he might be on the brink of breaking.

In the end it’s not a lack of talent or ability that causes Jiang Wei’s downfall but rather his too devoted heart.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: What kind of enchantment is this?

[ there is an extremely bewildered young man by the Chaos Gate. He’s not quite gaping but he’s just short of it. Once he realises that though he composes himself, lips thinning and hands balling into fists at his side. ]

I can’t be delayed here, whether it is a dream or a trap. I have duties awaiting me.

[ the question is how to get out of this… this place. He looks at the portal again and after a looooong moment---

He reaches out and pokes at the flickering blue gate. He lets out a short huff of frustration, shaking his head at himself. ] This is not the time for curiosity.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Lu Xun, styled Boyan
SERIES: Dynasty Warriors (based heavily on his appearance in Dynasty Warriors 7)
CANON POINT: At the end of Wu's storyline, when temporary peace has been achieved.
APPEARANCE: Here! He used to have a hat. And feathers. But now, braids are in.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept Rogue; Twin Blade & Macabre Dancer. Lu Xun's base weapon in all his appearances save one are twin sabers, which makes the first class an easy pick. The seventh rendition in the series features a game mechanic where characters can switch weapons mid-battle in the same manner as Adept Rogues in .hack can.

However, Lu Xun is not so much a fighter as a strategist, one who plans; the role of a strategist can be compared to the role of a caster class supporting from the back. The pick of Macabre Dancer over the other caster classes is not simply because of the class' dual wielding capabilities; in a spin-off game, Lu Xun's affinity lies first in Blades, closely followed by Tech -- where fans in that game fall under. Also, there is a running joke in the series and its spin-offs where Lu Xun will either be the one launching a fire attack or end up admiring a successful fire attack; this is a character that will appreciate the ability to light things on fire without oil or matches but won't use it without reason.

PERSONALITY:
A self-effacing young officer, he always conducts himself with sincerity … He encapsulates both the liveliness of youth and the wisdom of resourcefulness.

Lu Xun is fire, burning. One of the scions of the Lu family, he is youthful and dynamic. Learning challenges him, challenges excite him. There is no lack of passion or conviction in his words or actions once he has settled on a thought or a belief; Lu Xun has a duty he must accomplish and he will burn everything obstructing him in order to reach it.

Lu Xun is water, adapting. A scholar at heart, he is intelligent and wise, insightful and perceptive. He goes with the flow, watching the momentum on the battlefield and comes up with plans on the fly. When the officers under his command resist his orders, he doesn't despair. Instead, he goes out to fight, earning their respect, and ends the battle with a landslide victory in his favour.

Lu Xun is metal, persisting. Strict with himself and serious in his duty, he stands firm in the path he has chosen, steeling himself against those who would try to sway him. He can be overly stubborn. He can be strong. He is honest and kind and will flatter no one. He will fight and keep fighting for the sake of his dreams and visions of the future.

Lu Xun is earth, standing. Reasonable and practical, while he seeks victory in his strategies, he will not sacrifice others in vain. He is stable, responsible and mature, the foundation of Wu's plans and its newest Supreme Commander. He works hard and trains hard and remains faithful and unwavering.

Lu Xun is wood, expanding. He knows he is young, he knows he is inexperienced, he knows the world is cruel and that people must fight one another in order to survive. Still, he sees a possible future where people live in harmony. Lu Xun subconsciously compares himself to his predecessors and knows that he has a lot more to learn, a lot more to grow. He strives to be the best he can, knowing that he has a part to play in guiding his country.

Lu Xun, though known for his humility and sincerity, is capable of deception. He can be sneaky and devious, ruthless and cunning, baiting and trapping his enemies. The landscape of China is one of bloodshed and one where a warrior must do whatever it takes to protect their home and the people they care for. For his lord, for his country, for his comrades, Lu Xun is willing.

A loyal follower and a thoughtful commander, he addresses others politely and seemingly keeps them at a distance. However, when given the chance, he becomes an admiring subordinate or an encouraging friend.

Though burdened by family name and inexperience, Lu Xun succeeds with talent and willpower. He is potential waiting to fulfil and a shining star of a brighter future.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[ He is murmuring to himself, thinking. ] A trap...? No, not even Zhongda could have come up with something like this.

[ Lu Xun glances at his surroundings, then eyes the strange machine in front of him warily. A contraption of Shu's--? So many questions... Still.

He then turns towards a random person close by. ]

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Misaki Mei
SERIES: Another (Novel)
CANON POINT: Ch. 15 -- After they find out about the fire and she runs off to warn everyone/pull the fire alarm
APPEARANCE: Petite, slender and very pale; often compared to a doll. Dark hair worn in a short bob. Right eye is natural and black. Left eye is a false eye -- called a 'doll's eye', likely glass -- blue and often hidden behind an eyepatch. (Picture.)
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Shadow Warlock -- She's closely associated in canon with the occult and with death and darkness, etc., and isn't really the physically active type, so having her in a magic class seems pretty par for the course. Her solitary personality also doesn't seem appropriate for a party support role like Harvest Cleric or Macabre Dancer. Thusly.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: N/A

PERSONALITY: Perhaps the best way to describe Mei is 'doll-like'. Not only does she look like one; her face hardly ever changes expression and her voice hardly ever changes pitch. She's a solitary creature, often seemingly passive, and very stoic and taciturn. Her classmates and even Sakakibara Kouichi, who gets to know her better than most, call her 'cold'. This coupled with her eyepatch, her last name and the fact that she lives in a doll gallery themed like a morgue means that it's not surprising she's considered strange and unapproachable. She has always had few friends, and dislikes being interrogated as well as being tied down by contact (she hates cell phones, for example). For all that, she's not exactly antisocial -- she just doesn't bother to reach out or present herself in a friendly way.

The person who's come closest to her, besides Sakakibara, is probably her twin sister Fujioka Misaki. They knew each other as cousins for a long time, but eventually both realized they were twins separated at a very young age. They didn't always get along perfectly, but Misaki is Mei's other half and her death was a deciding factor in Mei's meeting and interactions with Sakakibara. Also thanks to this and the phenomenon, Mei has fairly clear understanding of death and grief -- it is often sadness that colors the rare breaks in her composure. Although Mei does not consider herself all that close to the rest of her family, she is mature enough to understand their problems and not particularly resent her birth parents for sending her away nor her adopted parents for using her as a substitute. She also does stand by those important to her -- she would have happily given Misaki her own kidney for a transplant if her age and her adopted mother's unwillingness to let her have anything to do with her birth family hadn't gotten in the way. During the dining room scene on the class trip, it is only when the accusers go after Sakakibara that she acknowledges and even actively mocks their efforts.

As the above examples also show, Mei is not so perfect a wallflower as she seems. She does have a distinct -- if somewhat twisted -- sense of humor: she teases Sakakibara about his name's connection to a 1997 murder case, messes with Teshigawara about the identity of the 'dead' person, and often seems amused early on when Sakakibara, who doesn't know anything at the time, is freaking out about the possibility of her being either dead or nonexistent. Sometimes, she will even add fuel to the fire. As for her interests, she does have a certain fondness for dolls, drawing, walks in freezing winter rain, and skipping school, though the latter is largely a product of her nonexistence and the fact that as a result it's much more relaxing for both herself and the class if she isn't at school. She's certainly not stupid, considering what she reads in her spare time. Also, her preferred subjects are maths and sciences (perhaps surprising, considering her connections to the arts), rather than language and literature. She states that it is because she prefers subjects where only one answer is possible, but this seems more of a wishful product of how messy her own life is, rather than an actual worldview.

Overall, Mei could be said to be a very self-sufficient child. Her mother seems given to benign neglect in general, while her father is hardly ever home. She is not as bothered as a more social person would be by being treated as 'nonexistent' by her class and teachers, although she doesn't exactly welcome the position with open arms and doesn't put much stock by the charm -- both because she doesn't entirely believe in the phenomenon at first and because of Misaki's death in April. She tends to passively allow what happens to her for the most part (including the accusations in the dining room), although she does often make it clear this doesn't mean she accepts those actions or attitudes or their usefulness (or lack thereof). In other words, she does have a bit of a patronizing side that likely only worsens others' opinions of her. Her passiveness, too, is not perfect: once she makes the decision to finally use her ability to see the dead to eliminate the 'dead' one of the class for everyone's sake, she goes ahead and takes action -- all within a single day. This incongruously altruistic streak shows up sometimes: one of her rationalizations for accepting her 'nonexistence' was so that someone else (less suited than herself) would not have to be in that position.

Although Mei does finally take the initiative, she spent a long time in limbo about what to do with her ability. At first, this is understandable because although she can see the color of death, she cannot see or prevent accidental deaths, and even knowing who the 'dead' one was would have been futile because they would not know what to do afterwards. She has also spent most of her life avoiding her own ability, understandably, by hiding her eye behind the eyepatch. It is only when Sakakibara, Teshigawara and Mochizuki take action and find out, through the tape, a way to end the curse involving the 'dead' one that Mei, too, finally does what she must. Prior to that, she does investigate the curse with Chibiki-sensei, but thanks to her lack of connections with people (which was important to finding out about the tape), does not get very far. In other words, although her independence is one of Mei's strongest straits, it is also one of her biggest flaws.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: Here! I hope linking to a test-drive thread is OK.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: Closed Season's Two Wings.

Dwarfed by the temple washed-out under the sky sits a girl. She is barely distinguishable from the shadowed fancy ornamentation on the building, but perhaps that is because that is the way she wants it. Although she's sitting a little ways up the steps, a thin coating of raindrops glistens on the dark crown of her head.

Mei runs her fingers over the odd, outlandish contours of the hat she'd woken up in -- it is only a little stranger than the outfit. She doesn't mind being dressed up, particularly, especially when everyone else looks about as strange. Camouflage. Even more conveniently, they've given her a new cell phone that can control the weather.

(She's not, in fact, sure it's a cell phone at all, but Mei isn't the type to stop and quibble over small details. She would never get anywhere in life otherwise.)

... It's reassuring, after that, that the rain she'd thought to be cold doesn't meet her expectations. It is not a 'cell phone that can control the weather', but a 'cell phone that can locate weather and climate similar to those desired' -- you could think of it that way, especially after the experimentation she's done. It's much too roundabout a solution, though, and she abandons it almost as soon as it forms. It's a solution for those who are still mentally in a place they recognize. She moves on.

There are places here that stop you from advancing, like solid walls where you can see nothing at all. Gates that move you like magical mirrors. Many of the only recognizable words are the nonsensical strings on the 'cell phone'. Creatures that would only have a place on TV. Mei doesn't play many games, but there's an echo of recognition: she has a good memory and her single eye takes in a great deal. Her instinct is to piece it together -- even if that same instinct tries to reject what it comes up with.

Whatever this is, it's a game. She hasn't spoken to many people, but the way they act and the way they relate to each other has a hollowness to it, like walking dolls. It doesn't much make her want to get closer to them, in any case.

Her 'cell phone' flashes insistently. Mission. Mission. Mission. There is something she should do here. Instead, when Mei brings herself to her feet she goes in search of the smaller Gate. These places, at least, she can simply leave.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: "The Anguished One"/"Al Saiduq"/Alcor (The first one is more of a title he calls himself by, the second is what he calls himself if you join him, the third is his true name)
SERIES: Devil Survivor 2
CANON POINT: Day 6 (Friday), with Fate (read: social link ranks - this is the huge thing determining the state of his character) approximately 1 or 2
APPEARANCE: Hello, Anguished One. Very pale and thin, almost always squinting, and appears to be wearing makeup around his eyes. However, this is just a human-shaped guise - his true form is more of a box (although he won't be using his box form in this game). In The World, his outfit becomes a good deal more revealing thanks to his class; he looks rather effeminate in it. The red-and-black striped pattern used on his human form's shirt and shoes dominates his Dancer outfit as well.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Macabre Dancer. His stat distribution is extremely balanced, with a slight preference towards Magic (his Lv99 stats turn out to be St27/Ma36/Vi26/Ag26 if you recruit him; as a boss his stats are 20/23/21/22). During the game he often appears to dispense helpful information in an enigmatic manner, suggesting that while not a manipulator, he definitely has an agenda.

His signature attack as a boss is the spell "Ominous Star", which inflicts a status debuff that adds 200 damage to any attack someone afflicted with it receives; he won't be using it in this game. He won't be using a lot of his powers in this game.

PERSONALITY: Alcor has been around for a ridiculously long time in his own canon - at least since the Earth's creation; when his "boss" of sorts, Polaris, created Earth, Alcor was dissatisfied with Polaris' desired order.

Eventually, humanity came along. Alcor noticed their potential and gave them the ability to pursue freedom. By the time the time frame of DS2 rolls around, however, his doubts in humanity have returned thanks to their being able to easily satisfy their desires. However, he does give them a chance to avoid Polaris' genocidal sentence, the Void, by teaching the Houtsuin family how to repel it and creating the website Nicaea (which shows people the deaths of their friends, thus allowing them to be averted), the Demon Summoning App (allowing humans to stand up to the other Septentriones), and the two Navigators, who are both named Tico (who assist the users of these other two services).

Because of the very fact that he isn't human, he doesn't really understand humanity that well, but wants to investigate it - passively, before you make any comparisons to hostile AIDA. He comes across as something... other than a man, and likes asking piercing questions about the nature of humanity. Many things still surprise him about it, such as how a simple difference of opinion can create such a large rift between two people.

He is one of eight subordinates of Polaris referred to as the "Septentriones", although the name Septentriones suggests there are only seven. The others are Dubhe, Merak, Phecda, Megrez, Alioth, Mizar, and Benetnasch, all of whom are wholly subservient to Polaris; expect hilarity to ensue if he ever meets Alkaid (Benetnasch and Alkaid are the same star).

He takes special interest in silent protagonists or would-be-silent-protagonists.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

[A mysterious-looking man appears, fully conscious. His narrowed eyes stare at the evening sun.]

[...Not that he perceives it as "evening" by his standards.]

[An NPC tries to pester him. He offers no response; he knows that it is just a program.]

[...but who would create an artificial world? Could this be one of those games?]

[And yet he could feel it. There were people nearby, wells of potential with unlimited possibility.]

[Perhaps this is worth some investigation..., he muses, in a tongue no one can hear.]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

...yeah, I've got nothing for this guy. BUT it should be okay since this is my second character.

OTHER/NOTES:

I guess I love him so much I simply don't mind the fact that there are 4 and 2 halves Macabre Dancers in the game so far.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Amemiya Taiyou
SERIES: Inazuma Eleven GO
CANON POINT: Post-game
APPEARANCE: Don't stare directly at the sun! Taiyou is fair-skinned, has a thin build, and is a few inches taller than an average 13-year-old though heights are confusing in this series so don't quote me on that. His hair is orange and reaches his shoulders; styled in a way that would remind one of a sun's rays. He has blue eyes. According to one of the seiyuu he would probably be considered attractive in-series.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Harvest Cleric. Taiyou had a keshin (or "avatar") in his series, and it was Apollo, the Greek god of the sun and healing. Taiyou is suited to having light-based attacks and healing skills as a result. His fragility can also be transferred from being due to his illness to the general build of his class. He will be initially disappointed by his not being able to fight at the frontline, but would eventually cope.

PERSONALITY:
Taiyou is a bright soul, kind and cheerful, zealous and simple-minded, yet at times oddly philosophical. He easily makes friends, and just as easily gets lonely. Unfortunately, Taiyou usually is confined to a hospital room; making him treasure the moments he has company more. Taiyou's warm, docile personality means he is generally someone people want, or at least wouldn't mind, to have around. He's a pure-hearted individual, and doesn't seem to dwell (or even see) the wrong in people. This optimistic mindset of his gives him the drive to be there for those who need more light in their life. If he can't outright make someone feel better, he at least promises to listen if ever they want to share their worries. To an extent, his naivete can even make him wiser: some complicated-sounding problems have simple answers, after all.

Additionally, the boy's very good at bringing people together; it reflects on his ability to lead. His team, Arakumo, displays trust in his decisions as captain for their match against Raimon in the Holy Road semi-finals, even if he was physically absent for all their prior Holy Road matches. Given his enthusiasm for the tournament and the sport as a whole, it's likely he established his being with them with reassuring words, and asking for updates on their training each day. Sometimes they visit, most regularly Taiyou's best friend Sata Tosamaru who is the main goalkeeper of the team. Arakumo only plays according to Fifth Sector's score orders when Taiyou isn't around; the Holy Emperor Ishido Shuuji makes it so that any game with Taiyou in it is played freely. The team is very supportive of Taiyou, and their main focus isn't even on winning--it's that they all, especially Taiyou, have fun.

He develops a close friendship with the main character of the series: Matsukaze Tenma, who Taiyou is described as being alike to by Tenma's best friend, albeit more emotional. Tenma is a special person to Taiyou--because it was when he saw Tenma's plays on TV that his feelings for soccer returned after being disallowed from it for so long. Without exaggeration, it could be said playing against Tenma became Taiyou's reason for living. He thus continued to train despite the disapproval of the medical staff; becoming so skilled that he was called a genius player only seen once in a decade. Despite his skill and later fame, Taiyou still displays good sportsmanship, as seen in his not being bitter in the slightest following Arakumo's loss against Raimon. In fact, he commended Raimon for being so great: the challenging match made him the happiest he had ever been in his life.

Taiyou is content with sharing others' happiness, but can't help feeling jealous now and then. Whenever nobody else is with him, his mind wanders: what his life would be like if he wasn't born with his condition. His biggest weakness though is his choosing to ignore his limitations. Couple this with his degrading health and you've got someone going at suicidal lengths for what his heart is telling him. Willpower can solve just about anything in idealistic stories, so why should his condition be any different? Taiyou doesn't fear death. He does everything with full effort so as to not leave behind any regrets in what might be a short life. In a way, this trait brings out both the best and worst in him. And to be brutally honest, Taiyou would be a hypocrite in this regard; he would remorselessly break his body trying to achieve a goal, but not let anyone else do the same.

His impulsiveness leading to reckless behavior is a problem, but as of his canon point he's been trying to fix it. The road to recovery is long... and dull. So Taiyou's been resisting the urge to play soccer by replacing it with different ways to alleviate his boredom. Of course none of them give him as much joy, but one day he vowed he would return to the football pitch, and he has to be patient in both senses of the word until then.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[Okay, this strategy if you can even call it that isn't working at all. There's a hint of exasperation in Taiyou's voice as he finally catches up.]

This will only take a second, let me heal you.

[His voice is gentle, but he's not taking no for an answer. He's grabbed your arm, and protest you may--he's not budging until he's closed that wound.]

You shouldn't rush ahead without a plan, you know...

[A sigh, followed by a small sad smile.]

We're a team. If you're going to get into a fight, I don't want you taking all the heat.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
Taiyou wasn't entirely sure how to react to the prospect of having been player-killed. Of course in real life it would unanimously unforgivable to murder an innocent--but this world they were in: it was just a game, right? Nobody really "died" if you "killed" them, so it wasn't as malicious an act as it sounded. Even if Taiyou as a victim felt that sharp pain before blacking out... that wasn't exactly anything new. It wasn't different from his occasional fainting, outside of The World. Plus he felt fine, now. If he still felt terrible that would be another story.

The items he worked hard for were gone though; that was what bothered him more. He wasn't really mad, just confused. Taiyou briefly considered asking for his items back politely, but what were the odds of finding that gang again? He thought for a few minutes, but came up with nothing. They were probably gone by now. He sighed; there really was no point in fretting over spilled milk, was there? He would simply have to start over. At least the experience made him wiser to the tactics of certain players--he noted to be more careful about wandering alone.

SERIES: Azrael's Edge
CANON POINT: End of Volume 1
APPEARANCE: Hey sexy. He's a little taller than most and with a build built for power (although he's by no means a slow hitter; just that he always strikes for a kill and doesn't joke about it).
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier. He's a mercenary and a skilled swordsman. ...Is that enough reasoning --?
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: Alpha was a level 4 (now level 2!) He's keeping his grudge/friendly rivalry with Albel though even if that bastard isn't around at the moment.

CHARACTER NAME: Matsukaze Tenma
SERIES: Inazuma Eleven GO (… and Tenma's page as well)
CANON POINT: Episode 45
APPEARANCE: So cool!

DESIRED CLASS & REASONING:
I think that Tenma would fit as an Blade Brandier. Blade Brandier is the closest relative to the kind of role that Tenma plays on his soccer team. On his team, Tenma assists the strikers (who would maybe in comparison be better suited as an Edge Punisher) in attacks on the other team's goal. He's a talented player but is average in terms of strength and maybe a little above average in speed.

Tenma is a soccer player and in the Inazuma Eleven and Inazuma Eleven GO canons soccer is about as magical and powerful as any mmorpg fighter. Tenma possesses an avatar, or "keshin", named Majin Pegasus Arc. He also has a number of killer "hissatsu" techniques at his disposal. All hissatsu techniques are based on an element, and every one of Tenma's is backed by a wind element. All hissatsu techniques in the Inazuma Eleven universe are quite powerful and could deal real damage if they were used with that intention, making Tenma and other Inazuma Eleven characters quite dangerous when armed with a soccer ball.

PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: n/a

PERSONALITY:
The most important thing to know about Matsukaze Tenma? That, gosh, this kid sure does love soccer. Really. To the point that all of his hopes and dreams revolve around becoming a soccer player. Since being saved at a young age by a soccer ball with a lightning bolt drawn onto it, it has been his dream to play in Raimon Middle School's soccer club.

Tenma shares his enthusiasm for soccer with Endou Mamoru. Endou had been the goalkeeper and captain of victorious Inazuma Japan and for a period of time coaches Raimon's soccer team. The two of them both have a passion for soccer that doesn't allow them to see it as just a game. For these soccer freaks, it's a way of life. Not being able to play an honest game of soccer for both Tenma and Endou is unacceptable and they both insist on overturning any Fifth Sector policy that denies soccer's integrity. People that knew Endou themselves (first Coach Kudou and Haruna, who experience first hand Tenma's excitement for soccer the very first day he shows up to join the club) recognizes the similarity between them, and perhaps because of that Tenma is so easily accepted into the Raimon team by the coach and counselor.
For Endou, loving soccer and enjoying the game is more important than being talented and winning games. Winning is great and all, but there's no shame in playing and losing to a team that might be even better than your own. Rather than just a loss that experience becomes an opportunity to learn a new kind of soccer. Tenma would agree with his coach completely. Because they both have such strong feelings for soccer, Tenma looks up to Endou as a player.
Both of them also, but Tenma especially, refer to soccer as if it were a thinking, feeling being. He pretty often says that soccer is sad or crying when people aren't playing soccer honestly and all-inclusively.

Because of that spirit, Tenma has no problem getting along with just about anybody. He puts his faith in people to do the right thing. Most notable is his optimism when it comes to dealing with SEEDs- most importantly his teammate Tsurugi Kyousuke. Tsurugi is a first year on the team but joined under very different circumstances than Tenma. As a SEED, Tsurugi was placed in Raimon's team mostly to keep an eye on their coach, Kudou Michiya. To make his point, Tsurugi takes out Raimon's second team single-handedly. The fear that ripples through the soccer club that Fifth Sector will destroy their soccer is enough for all but some members of the first team to disband. Tenma (and Shinsuke) of course join the team anyways. And despite Tsurugi's initial bad intentions, Tenma is the first member of the team to forgive Tsurugi and to trust him as a teammate.
Tsurugi is also one of the first non-coaches to recognize Tenma's potential as a player. Tsurugi on occasion takes it upon himself as the most powerful player on the team to practice one-on-one with Tenma with the intention of drawing out Tenma's abilities. It's usually quite rare to actually find Tsurugi so interested in another player, especially early on, but Tenma manages to be something special. To be noticed in the eyes of an ex-SEED like Tsurugi, who is used to being surrounded by talent as a member of Fifth Sector's force, is pretty significant and confirms that Tenma does have potential to be a great player.

Tenma is very good at recognizing the best parts of a person's personality and actions and it becomes the base that he uses to judge them. Tsurugi isn't an exception in his ability to trust in Fifth Sector's SEEDs. SEEDs in other teams aren't necessarily enemies to Tenma either. Everyone has a reason for their situation they're in. Their situation can always change, as well as their spirit. Tenma allows himself to judge through someone's soccer playing rather than a bad attitude or their being in a compromised position. It's Tenma's positive attitude that allows teammates and challengers to play at their best- and it's Tenma's honest and passionate soccer that almost always brings out the best in others. He says, "Even if they're strangers, you can quickly become friends after standing on the same grounds and chasing the ball together."

In Tenma's fight against Fifth Sector he of course faces some difficult emotional challenges as the kid stirred up this soccer revolution. But these are all short lived drawbacks for Tenma's usually cheerful personality. Tenma's ability to bounce back after difficult situations is maybe unusual but also impressive. It never takes long for him to overcome his own doubts. However his experiences show that he can't do it all by himself. Tenma might be cheerful even all by himself but it doesn't mean he doesn't ever rely on the support of his friends.

But Tenma of course gives out plenty of support to his friends and teammates as well. He might not be the best player on the team but he is always ready to help them during practice. Tenma is very friendly and helpful to new students and new members to the club. When the new members Kariya Masaki and Kageyama Hikaru transfer into the school and join the team, Tenma is the first to welcome and accept them. Kariya comes to the team with plenty of experience and knowledge of the sport, but Kageyama joins as a true beginner. Tenma and the other first years on the team are quite close and are always ready to help each other out, no matter what their skill level. Tenma himself says that it takes all sorts of players to make up a team.
Tenma isn't alone in the team as someone that is always willing to help his teammates improve. Also, his ability to bond with the members of other teams through his soccer mean that Tenma and the rest of Raimon has the benefit of the experience and feelings of soccer players outside their own team.
And he of course doesn't try to help just on the field. Most importantly was his ability to restore the will to play free soccer to Shindou Takuto. As captain of Raimon's first team, without him Tenma wouldn't have been able to rally the support of the other players as well. It's because of Tenma's first ability to win over Shindou that the rest of the team slowly became motivated to win the Holy Road championship and take soccer back from Fifth Sector.

As he becomes a more experienced soccer player, Tenma learns how to become a true leader. When captain Shindou Takuto is hospitalized in the semi-final match, the team agrees that Tenma should be the player that takes his place as captain. Tenma accepts the position and is very humble about it. He accepts from the beginning that it will be a challenge for him to lead Raimon in the final game but tries his best to make up for Shindou's absence. The team follows Tenma's orders and suggestions despite his inexperience as captain.

Even non-soccer players seem to rally behind Tenma's passion for soccer. The girls that become Raimon's managers owe it to Tenma for wanting to be apart of the team at all (maybe with the exception of Akane, who has a crush on team captain Shindou Takuto). Aoi is Tenma's childhood friend and she is very supportive of him. Midori is an upperclassmen that mostly just seems inspired by his spirit and rallies behind him to bring the team together.
If that's not enough, Tenma tends to get along with animals as well. He has a dog called Sasuke that he has taken care of since he was little. Sasuke was even part of that important moment in Tenma's childhood when he was saved by a soccer ball.

And finally, even though this kid is pretty great and all, Tenma can be sometimes be kind of absentminded and is sort of a ditz. He probably owes this to his naturally being so happy-go-lucky. And as far as his academics go, it's uncertain how he does but it might be assumed that he's no shining star in the classroom. When shown scenes that take place in class, Tenma often seems preoccupied over a new technique or a big game. Soccer seems to take priority over his schoolwork.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

Captain? Coach?

[ Tenma calls out and looks around for his friends and teammates. He has only just landed in this place and he already is lost and alone. Even his dog, Sasuke, isn't with him anymore! ]

… Anybody?

[ Tenma shrugs and looks down at the device in his hand. He had given up a long time ago trying to work the Relic, and he wonders if that's the key to finding some help. He's not particularly good at working electronics- still learning tips and tricks about his mobile from Tsurugi and Aoi back home- and it doesn't help that this one doesn't even resemble anything he had ever used before.

He drops the Relic back into a pocket and trudges on, determined to find someone or something familiar.
]

I'm sure I'll be able to find someone eventually!
… Right?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
(This app is being reused from my Soul Campaign app, I hope that's okay!)

Tomorrow is a big game, and Tenma's got to get some sleep so he can play at his best. There is a lot on the line, after all. If they win the game against Arakumo, then Raimon moves forward to play in the finals. If Raimon wins that game and takes the tournament it doesn't just mean an exciting win for their team. Fifth Sector will be at its knees if Raimon wins. Winning will make it worth the trouble all those other soccer teams have gotten into for being on Raimon's side. If Raimon can win the Holy Road tournament it means that Soccer wins! But it's not just that. Tenma has a lot riding on this game for himself too. If Raimon manages to win that final game, Ishido Shuuji promised that he would explain himself to Tenma. He would explain why Fifth Sector does what it does. Maybe Tenma could understand how someone that loves soccer could try so hard to ruin it.

There's plenty on the line, and it's keeping Tenma up when he really ought to already be fast asleep. As important as it is for Tenma to be well rested, it just isn't happening. He sits up in bed. His dog, Sasuke, is laying just at the side of the bed. Hung up against a chair across the room is his soccer uniform. And on the desk is the soccer ball that got Tenma dreaming about soccer from the beginning. Both the ball and the uniform have the Raimon lightning bolt mark on them. It's the same ball that saved him when he was little, and it was kicked by Ishido Shuuji himself.

Tenma reaches over and scratches Sasuke behind the ears. "Sasuke, how can someone that loves soccer so much do something so bad? I don't get it." The dog whines and licks at Tenma's face. Even though it's not any real answer to Tenma's problem, it somehow manages to cheer Tenma up just the same. A little smile spreads across the boy's face.

Everything is going to work out. He and his teammates will overcome this obstacle. Together they have already managed to overcome so much. The wind that's blowing them towards Fifth Sector is pushing them ahead. It's Tenma's wind that has caught up the rest of the team, and he knows he has no excuse to be afraid when he has all of his friends fighting with him.

Tenma can't help but laugh as the dog laps at his face again. "Haha- you're right, Sasuke. This is no time to be down." With another pat on the dog's head and a final glance at the soccer ball across the room, Tenma lays back down to get some sleep.

CHARACTER NAME: Tachigami
SERIES: Okami
CANON POINT: Post-game, but pre-Okamiden
APPEARANCE: Squeak... and squeak? Her human form looks like that of a petite young girl, around 10-12 years old. The red markings on her body and clothing represent her godhood; only those with belief in gods/spirits can see them. Otherwise, she looks normal to the naked eye, save for retaining the mouse ears in her human appearance.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING:
Blade Brandier. This choice is based more on Tachigami's signature brush technique, Power Slash rather than the Edge Crusher sized sword. It is performed in game by drawing a straight, horizontal line across a target using what the game refers to as the Celestial brush and ink. It does not deal as much damage compared to the other brush skills, and in most cases an enemy has to be rendered vulnerable in order to be used efficiently. It does make for a surprisingly versatile technique to outside of battle however (slicing treasure chests, rocks, scrolls, etc.), matching up with the well-rounded build of a Blade Brandier.

PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: (ONLY FOR PREVIOUS PLAYERS FROM HR'S LAST INCARNATION!)

PERSONALITY:
Tachigami represents the mouse of the zodiac and thirteen Brush Gods, who serve under the sun goddess Amaterasu and refer to her as their Mother. Like her siblings, Tachi has a strong sense of duty and responsibility. Half-hearted isn’t in her vocabulary, and she's quite methodical in her tasks. She has a slight air of audacity, coming from years of experience and godly. Still, they're meant to help people with their abilities. While slicing things in two is not exactly at majestic as wind fire, etc., she's a resourceful girl. In fact, she's likely to use for own personal convenience when available.

However, Tachi is not as formal as one would expect. In game, when the brush gods reunite with Amaterasu after a centuries-long absence, they give her the title “Amaterasu, origin of all that is good and mother to us all”. Even the gods who spontaneously attacked her did that. Tachi is one of two exceptions to it. Instead, she greet the wolf with “Well, well, well... if it isn’t Mother Amaterasu,” Rather than be an archaic poet, she prefers a more direct, if not somewhat whimsical way of speaking. While it's better at getting her feelings and point across, her honest attitude can lead to her coming off as a sharp-witted, precocious brat.

On the topic of difficult kids, Tachi can certainly be one, despite her actual age. In her world, it requires ea considerable amount of faith and spiritual fervor to recognize and have contact with the gods. As a result, she isn't used to true face to face communication with others. She keeps to her own agenda, and even to her family she doesn't easily divulge her personal issues. Her devotion to her goals lead to something of perfectionist mode that others may have difficulty stopping. It comes from her desire to be taken seriously by everyone, even if it requires aggression.
So yes, the cute rodent has a bite. But to those she opens up to, she'll treat them like family and fiercely stay by their side.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[In a sea of players and NPCs, this little mouse has found a way to escape being swept away by the crowds. She's sitting atop a ledge of some sort, looking below to where the Relic had fallen during her climb]

There's so many people...

[Her wide eyes hint at her awe. With the way she's peering at passerby, it's easy to tell she's looking for someone. The height of her position may be an improvement to the ground floor, but her efforts prove unsuccessful. She sighs and rests her head in her hands]

Chuu... You think they'd stick out a bit more. I guess not.

[She pushes off and lands onto a nearby box. She picks up her Relic and starts the process of making her way through the street.]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
Light footsteps tread through the meadow grass, with a gentle breeze at her back. As interesting as the bustle of Mac Anu was, Tachi would still prefer the areas and the out-of-the-way atmosphere they give. Some places brought back the sweet memories of home, like Hana Valley or Tsuta Ruins. She's always wanted to go on an adventure through those places like her mother, and this was close. A tiny bit of her envied that freedom Amaterasu had.

The pleasant walk can't last though. An enemy spawns, baring sharp claws at the girl. There's a more recent memory coming back, one mentioning that this place had higher leveled monsters. She's not worried though, and draws her blade. Harder foes meant a more interesting fight, and maybe even treasure. Unwieldy as this body felt sometimes to her, she trusted in being able to flee when things got rough also. Pretty scenery and good experience... This is an area she should keep note of for future reference.

CHARACTER NAME: Shindou Takuto
SERIES: Inazuma Eleven GO
CANON POINT: Ep 45
APPEARANCE: he looks so derpy here
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Lord Partizan, since it’s a mid-range class but has more strength than a Flick Reaper. This is a good fit for Shindou mostly because his position on the soccer team is primarily midfielder. From here, he can assess the player’s movements better than if he’s a striker as well as give commands easier than if he is a defender because he’s pretty much Raimon’s strategist and he needs a good view of the entire field. He’ll take over this role again in battles while in The World and mostly stick to mid-range. He’s also a pretty capable forward when it’s needed of him and he makes quite a lot of goals in Raimon’s favour which is where the strength part of Lord Partizans come in, allowing him to attack and deal damage when he can.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: n/a

PERSONALITY:
First and foremost, Shindou is a leader. He has an innate ability to inspire people to do their best. It's one of the reasons he's the team captain for a school that is widely reputed for having a strong soccer team. This position is handed over to him when he is only a first year by Sangoku Taichi, an upperclassman on the soccer team, who even tells Shindou that he has 'a talent of bringing the team together like a conductor who waves his baton in an orchestra,' which is true because the team trust him and his decisions greatly. His hissatsu technique, God’s Baton, displays this in that he can use it to direct his teammates where to go, who to pass the ball to and from where to shoot.

Other than his ability to lead, he also possesses other traits that make him a great captain. He is genuinely caring and always puts his team before himself, even outright admitting to Endou, the team's coach, that he is fighting (in the revolution against Fifth sector) for the team's sake and doesn't care about what happens to him. Of course this isn't something he needed to voice for it to be obvious because it's plainly evident through his actions already. Normally very quiet and reserved, Shindou can come off as being too serious at times but when it comes to his team or his friends, he will very vehemently defend them. For example, when Tsurugi Kyousuke, a Seed sent in by Fifth Sector to destroy Raimon's soccer team, insults the team, Shindou displays a very rare occurrence of out of control anger (he even starts crying). Extreme displays of emotion is rare for Shindou and yet for the sake of his team, he allowed anger to completely consume him.

Raimon is incredibly important to him and this is why he doesn't have a very high opinion of Tsurugi at first. This eventually changes when Tsurugi joins their revolution instead of fighting against them and Shindou begins to treat him like any other team member. This shows that despite intellectual prowess on the field, he can be pretty limited in his views. Once he is stuck thinking one thing, he is often unable to see the other side until something drastic comes along to change his mind. Another example of this is his willingness to follow Fifth Sector's rules even though he disagreed with them in the beginning. If he and his team were allowed to play soccer, then this was enough for him because at that time, he thought this was the right thing to do. Later on Tenma is able to persuade him otherwise and once he is part of the revolution, he gives his entire being into fighting to bring back real soccer.

Shindou is incredibly reliable, although sometimes he takes his role too seriously. Usually, this leads him to taking too much responsibility over the team and anything that happens. He will also very willingly accept the blame if it's something negative. Protecting the team is his duty as captain and he will do everything he can to fulfill that, even walk to the stadium on crutches, broken leg be damned, when Tenma needed him in Raimon’s battle against Seidouzan.

Off the field, Shindou is pretty agreeable and has a mild manner although he does have moments where he is a little slow to grasp the point of something. He is friendly though and will always take time encourage friends and let them know that he’s supporting them. He rarely has anything harsh to say unless it’s directed at someone he dislikes a lot. He is also very accepting, which is evident when he allowed Aoyama and Ichino back on the team despite the fact that they left the team after it got beaten down by Tsurugi.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[Despite being more than a little disoriented when he suddenly finds himself not in Inazuma any more, Shindou doesn’t waste any time letting that confusion get the better of him. After sufficient fussing over what's he's wearing (where's his soccer uniform? He hopes nothing happened to it, that would be sad), he immediately sets off to explore the strange city--

--only it somehow manages to confuse him even more. This place is unlike anything he’s used to.]

Maybe I should talk to someone instead. I’m bound to get more answers than just wandering aimlessly...

[Shindou stops right in the middle of the street and stands there chewing on his bottom lip slightly as he tries to plan his next course of action before another thought hits him.]

I wonder if the others are here.

[Because even if this place is completely weird, Shindou wouldn’t mind seeing a familiar face because then at least he’d know he’s not alone.]

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Yosuke Hanamura
SERIES: Persona 4
CANON POINT: As they're making a decision on Namatame's fate. December 03, 2011.
APPEARANCE: Derpsuke
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Twin Blade. Yosuke uses twin kunai/knives/wrenches in the TV World and therefore has experience using twin weapons. I think he would be the most comfortable in this class.

PERSONALITY:
Yosuke comes across as quite awkward and goofy. He's also your typical high school teenager; slacking off with his studies, never getting good grades in tests, perving over girls, listening to music and playing video games. He also has a habit of thrusting his foot right into his mouth and saying the most inappropriate things, mainly because he lacks common sense. Sometimes he will blurt out things that seem insensitive or downright stupid. It's not that Yosuke is a horrible person; he's a compassionate, caring guy, a good friend to have. But when his emotions take over his brain fails to connect before his mouth opens.

He was forced into the country life when his father acquired the manager's position at Junes. From then on his life became slow, extremely dull. Nothing ever happened. He had one dream to save up and get a motorcycle, possibly to add some excitement into his life. The job at Junes helped with this, and also added some responsibility into his life; having to deal with customers and deal with less than cooperative employees.

Of course, he longed for something interesting to happen, he secretly wanted to have an adventure and be a hero. So when Souji arrives and they discover the TV World he can't resist wanting to explore it and find out more, if only to ease his current state of boredom.

Yosuke is also a very insecure teenager. He takes rejection like a stab in the gut, and takes things too personally (ie. Someone can't help him out at work, or is too busy? It's because they hate him obviously!). He's also very needy; constantly texting and generally worrying and clinging to his friends and apologizing over trivial things. He needs confirmation that everything is okay and that they're still friends. This neediness came about due to his past friends basically dumping him; they never contacedt him since his move to Inaba. Yosuke could simply contact them, but that thought alone scares him. What if they've forgotten him? Or act nasty to him? It all goes back round to being rejection, and how much he hates it.

Despite his flaws though, Yosuke is a pretty intelligent person. He leads most of the investigation and the other members seem to listen and take his theories seriously, mostly because they sound plausible. There are times when Yosuke's gut feelings take over and he will act on them without thinking; this is when he needs a friend like Souji to pull him back and make him rethink what he's doing before he does something he may later regret (i.e. killing Namatame).

Yosuke also considers himself as somewhat of a comedian. He likes to make fun of his friends, and can be quite witty sometimes too. Sometimes he takes it a little too far. But it's all in jest, and Yosuke would never go around deliberately insulting people to hurt them. He just lacks tact.

For the most part it's easy to tell what Yosuke is feeling, he'll flail and shout when he's angry, whine and complain about sucky stuff, become reserved and quiet when upset (i.e. when talking about Saki-senpai) and act excited and comical when he's happy.

Random First Person Sample from another app:

Okay, normally I wouldn't do this... [no really...he wouldn't...] and I know it's kinda just outta the blue but--

Argh, well. I need some help at work. It's the Holiday period and they have these stupid sales going on and-- well you get the picture. Guys, I can't do this alone so I'm begging for anyone with a heart to help a poor guy out. I'll pay you overtime! Anything just--

Pleaseeeee! Pleasepleaseplease!

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
The Investigation, the TV world, Souji. They'd all given him something, something interesting in this small boring town. He'd been a hero, defeated a goddess of all things and brought the murderer to justice. One would think he'd have had enough, that it was more than what he had wished for.

But after everything had ended and Souji left, Yosuke was inevitably bored again. It was like nothing had happened. A part of him wanted to shout "Hey I saved the world!" and tell everyone about his adventures with his friends, of how heroic he...they were. Maybe then they'd treat him better when he's still working at Junes instead of giving him filthy looks for "ruining" their town. But no one would take him seriously, and Yosuke knew it.

He laughed a little to himself as he stacked the shelves, imagining if he really did do that and how crazy he would look. No. For the most part Yosuke was happy that it was a secret, that only his friends knew, and that'd he made some close bonds with them through it all. Besides, he still had the motorcycle to look forward to? Right?

On the way back home it began to rain, and Yosuke suddenly realized how much he hated the rain as his stomach started to twist. He knew everything was over, but it was like instinct now. He pulled out his cell and decided to call the others, to see if they'd want to go inside the TV world, just to make sure of course!

NOTES:
This is all pretty much taken from old apps, and I did have Yosuke in HR once-upon-a-time which is why this app may seem familiar. Hey I'm lazy! If you need fresh samples though I'm happy to provide.

Also to note I'm happy to have Yosuke know Souji as Yu for any possible future castmate's reference. :)

CHARACTER NAME: Oz Vessalius
SERIES: Pandora Hearts
CANON POINT: End of chapter 62~
APPEARANCE: Ta~daa! Oz stands at 162cm, with permanently messy hair that has this love/hate-relationship with gravity going on. It resembles Oz in that it is a rather independent creature and cannot be tamed for long; even when attacked with brush and the best intentions it'll go back to its old ways of fluffy chaos within an hour. Oz' figure is normal enough, fit from running around, a bit on the slender side but all things considered he looks like your regular healthy kid. He gets teased for his height but in reality it's not too shabby for a 15 year-old body! Really! Also, he's been stuck in the combination of knee socks, shorts and button-downs for so long that they aren't going to leave him alone any time soon - that's fate for you.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept Rogue, Blade Brandier ↷ Flick Reaper; I've been thinking about this really hard because I didn't want to simply go for the shiniest option available but it just works the best for Oz. The last chapters have shown us that he isn't human, that he really is quite literarily two-faced, both by choice and by nature and I find it therefore fitting. He simply isn't someone who you can approach and expect to get what is on the label and he derives an immense pleasure from keeping that kind of advantage. Additionally, the weapon that belongs to him and the one he can handle with ease is B-Rabbit's Scythe but it's not the weapon he would wish to use. Oz likes knights, in fact, his absolute favourite book series is 'Holy Knights', whose main character is, indeed, a knight. That's a thing that happens and is also real- or as real as a fictional thing within a fictional manga can be. Anyway! Oz has been taught swordplay, is still being taught swordplay during the manga and his profile states that it's one of his strengths despite him lacing actual fighting experience. Which does prove to be a problem but at least it explains the class, I hope.

PERSONALITY: Oz is-- an idiot, only not where and when people expect him to be. He appears cheerful, and thoughtless, playful too. A bit ditzy even, as likely to go looking for adventure as to play pranks on the people around him. Nothing of that is a lie, but it's not that easy of course.

Above and beyond everything Oz is distrusting (of people as well as situations) and hurt. It's not that he dislikes contact, or that he prefers to be alone (he doesn't enjoy that at all in fact), but Oz is used to those around him betraying him, so he's learnt not to put weight on their promises. He'll enjoy an outing, will be happy at meeting new people, will rush ahead and try to make the most out of it, but if the situation were to change, the people to attack him, then he'd accept this-- there would be no fright, and no denial, because it's the norm in his eyes.

That he still ventures outside while knowing how dangerous it is shows a lack of care about his own well-being. Oz is arrogant, loud and boisterous at times but he has come to think of his own existence as something bad. He wouldn't back down in a fight, or allow the nearest hoodlum to kill him, but he doesn't treasure his own life; the neglect and the hateful treatment at the hands of his father as well as the betrayals having made him doubt his own worth.

He tries to make up for this by working hard. Learning to the point of exhaustion, protecting his sister to the point of sheltering her, looking after his bets friend without expecting the same in return, Oz just forces too much on himself.

This is also his weak point: Oz might be observant, intelligent, and fast but this stubborn belief that he is bad-- that he is guilty blind-sides him greatly. It makes it difficult for him to form lasting relationships, because, for one, he won't be honest about his fears and insecurities, and, for the other, rarely allow himself to ask for things.

But it's not as if he's beyond redemption: Oz wants to be good, wants to live, he wants to be liked and loved. He can't deal well with affection, it tends to fluster him or leave him floundering for a bit, but he yearns for it and would not reject the chance to be accepted.

All in all, Oz is someone who likes to have fun but doesn't allow himself to just let go, who works hard but doesn't like to be complimented on this. He is a brat who can make people despair because he refuses to play by their rules no matter how well-meant these are, and who sees it as his duty to look after the people close to him, the ones he loves. He is afraid of being rejected again, of being even worse than he already deems himself. He won't act sombre unless forced to, won't be entirely honest if he can help it. Someone who needs to learn quite a few lessons, I'd say.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

[ So, the thing is that Oz is pretty much used to random world changes by now. The Abyss is good for these kind of things, as is his own talent to adapt to external changes, no matter how crass.

It all boils down to this: there's a decided lack of shock when Oz wakes up only to realise that he's somewhere new { again, they really can't come up with something new, huh? }, a decided lack of care almost, if you go by the expression on his face. Oz looks dumbfounded, eyes comical wide and mouth open, he looks dumbfounded, too, when he brushes his clothes down and stands up.

He'll go and take a look around..! Or that's what he's planning to do when he's run over by a giant-- armour?? wow, hold it right there, Oz goes and just kind of clings to one of the arms because that seems to be a grand idea ]

Hey Mister, mister~~! [ kind of unwilling shufflestop here, success! ] Mister, I've lost my way and now I don't know where my friends are or how to get back- can you tell me where I am, please? [ and do his eyes seem suddenly bigger? kind of. sparkly?? for a moment there's still hesitation on the other end but: ]

It would be really important Mister, I don't know what I'd do without help and you look strong and brave, like a big brother I can trust!

[ and that? seals the deal, whatever random player #233678 was doing before will have to wait because he seems willing to take a break for Oz . He'd probably demand exp. for this if he knew what these are.

In any case, it seems that the newest addition to The World is at least not the type to fall into hysterics ]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

In a general sense, Oz looks ecstatic today. Or, to stay true to the nature of the word: the player with the blond hair and green eyes combination looks happy. full-stop. period. whatever.

Both is true, somehow, except that it isn't.

Not that it matters, happiness is one of the words lost to technicalities and he's certainly-- hyper enough, curious enough, and Oz isn't unhappy.

He's always wanted adventure and now he has it in spades! Maybe a bit too much of it to be honest, considering that he's stuck in a dungeon and. running out of Restoratives.

It's not the first time and he's been scolded before but he doesn't seem particularly concerned. Doesn't feel particularly concerned- it's a reckless way to live but it comes without restrictions for the most part. It's the kind of life he deserves, he thinks. Maybe that's arrogant? He knows after all that--

but this thought gets cut off as another attack crashes against him, as another monster he can see and believe in but shouldn't, not quite so easily leashes out. It also shouldn't be so easy to just swing at the monster and crash its HP but it is.

Oz' head hurts a bit and he can't remember why fighting is so easy but at least he doesn't have to worry about red eyes overlaying green here, in this place. Instead he worries about the friends he left behind, both shadow and sun and so much more.

There's a clatter as the enemy {is that the word? but it wasn't attacking anything important to Oz} disintegrates. It's not over yet because the next one is already looming over Oz and --

in a general sense, Oz still looks ecstatic if  a bit distracted. He's smiling, the corners of his mouth sharp, the line of it stretched thin. The player with the green eyes and blond hair combo is going for his scythe because nothing ever ends this easily.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Meta Knight
SERIES: Kirby
CANON POINT: the end of Kirby's Return to Dream Land
APPEARANCE: This sexy beachball! Okay we'll make him easier to model. Maskless edition. One alternate, another alternate.

He'll stand at 5'5", 5'6" in heeled boots. His wings will be reduced in size and act as decoration/attachments to his persons, or removed all together in accordance to character model rules. His mask is a part of his model, but can be removed much in the same way Helba's mask and hat was knocked off in the non-canon .hack//XXXX (Alternatively a special cheat item like people accuse Zelkova's horns of being, but let's not make this too complicated)

DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier - In canon, he wields a normal sword, which attacks with average speed and damage. His strict and preference for elegance also fits the one-handed sword class.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: nope.avi

PERSONALITY:
Meta Knight is a puffball? man of great honor. He follows a code of chivalry, offering a sword to Kirby to be on equal grounds with him. Despite this honor code, he fights with all his might and often overwhelms his opponents. He also has a strict work ethic, manifesting to the extremes when he attempts to conquer Dream Land to end laziness and corruption. However, he seems to have mellowed down over the years, only taking action when necessary. He does not hesitate to lend his help during times of danger, such as when he selflessly goes to help the Mirror World when he senses trouble. Unfortunately, he rarely ever explains himself, which can lead to more complications, like when he stole the chest containing Dark Nebula to prevent its release without telling Kirby that his strawberry shortcake was not inside.

He is very prideful and borders on narcissistic. He wears a mask, presumably to make himself look more threatening, for his opponents to take him seriously, or a combination of both. He will warp away immediately if unmasked. Additionally, his warship the Halberd bears his mask as well and even incorporates his bat like wings in its design. He only borders on narcissism due to the fact that he rarely wants to take the spotlight directly. He takes great pride in his strength and skill as well, to the point that he will obsessively train, summon a wish granting comet, and wish to fight the strongest being in the galaxy. Despite his obsession with growing stronger, he seems to be content in knowing that his skills are top notch and mellows down considerably by his next two appearances.

Meta Knight can be seen as a little fatherly as well. He cares deeply for the well being of his knights and expresses regret when he hurts them. He also displays interest Kirby's growth as a warrior and constantly tests him. He is a calm leader, giving orders and advice quickly without panic while Kirby is destroying his ship. He is willing to sink behind to the side if it means better teamwork, as evidenced in Return to Dreamland where he follows Kirby's lead. He is also very serious and is usually the first to notice things, such as the looming danger in the Mirror World and whenever Magolor arrives on scene.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[Having just popped in not too long ago, Meta Knight wanders Mac Anu creeping listening to different conversations trying to get a feel for the world. He pauses in a corner to fiddle with his Relic.]

I can't tell if being like... this or being made of yarn is more jarring.

[He takes a moment to flex his fingers, appendages very unfamiliar to him. Shaking his head, he exits the menu for his Relic.]

I should look for Kirby and the others. If I'm like this, then chances are they are as well.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
The speed at which Landia flew was absolutely exhilarating. Meta knight made a mental note to himself to train his wing strength after this mess was over. Stopping Magolor took priority over his training regimen, for if the madman continued as he did, he would have no regimen to follow. He ignored the troubled looks on his companion's faces. Dedede, Waddle Dee, and Kirby especially all took Magolor's betrayal deeper than the knight had. Meta Knight was the only one paranoid enough to prepare himself for a catastrophe. There was something rather suspicious about Magolor's behavior, but the Halcandran did not alert his danger senses until after the four Dream Land warriors defeated Landia. In the end, they were all fools for trusting him.

However, only true fools would wallow in misery over their mistake. They had a chance to fix things, so they took it. Kirby spearheaded the attack with the others supporting him. Meta Knight smiled under his mask for that. It was good seeing the pink puffball take responsibility for his screw ups which he was prone to make. He dismissed the thought and focused on the task at hand. He risked triggering a major headache if he thought about Kirby's many blunders anymore, and a headache while flying at high speeds through a strange dimension was a sure fire way to get himself killed.

They sped past the obstacles Magolor threw at them and reached a section of free space where the crazed jester waited for them. Meta Knight deduced he was running out of things to throw at them, for Magolor had to resort to sending the Lor Starcutter itself to fight. The ensuing battle sent a mix of emotions through him. He was impressed by Kirby's ability to maneuver nimbly with Landia, worried whenever Waddle Dee was hit, and had a grudging respect for Dedede whenever he managed to land critical hits. He was not to be outdone himself. He quickly figured out the Lor's attack patterns and employed hit and run tactics with great efficiency. With their combined efforts, they easily took the ship down, though Meta Knight was secretly certain he could have done it by himself.

He watched Magolor shake with rage and summon dark energy spheres. The new wielder of the Master Crown then launched his desperate barrage. Meta Knight quickly urged his Landia to the front and drew his sword to deflect the spheres that were sure to hit the group. He hated having to take the lead for them, but he knew he was the only one nimble enough to deflect from the front. Dedede's hammer was too slow, Waddle Dee's spear was too clumsy for quick aerial assault, and Kirby was simply weaponless and risked hampering his Landia's flight path if he inhaled the attack. However, despite their efforts, Magolor overwhelmed them, taking out Dedede and Waddle Dee first before the masked knight succumbed to the attack and plummeted to the area below.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Kaworu Nagisa
SERIES: Neon Genesis Evangelion
CANON POINT: After Episode 24 (post-death)
APPEARANCE: bam
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier; In the anime, Kaworu is only ever shown using his AT Field and some vaguely psychic abilities to manipulate Unit 02 and float around (likely also some manifestation of hiis AT Field). He doesn't really have a particular weapon in canon, but none of the magic classes seem to particularly suit him. In the Gakuen Datenroku spin-off manga, however, his Eva manifested as a sword, and overall the balanced and elegant nature of the class suit him well.

PERSONALITY: (Just as a note, I'll be playing Kaworu from the anime series, as there's a fairly significant difference in his portrayal in the anime and various manga serious, but parts of his characterization will likely be supplemented by details from the different manga series and such, because there's only so much to go on based on the one episode he was in.)

Kaworu tends to have a very inhuman feel to him, mostly because (and this should barely count as a spoiler anymore, given the age of the series) he's an Angel. By the rules of the canon, this means something a bit more sinister and threatening to the human race than the normal definition of the word, but Kaworu tends to embody the classic idea of it -- he's kind, gentle, graceful, protective, wise, and highly sympathetic towards humans in general. He comes across as a bit detached, just an observer to all else going on in the world, as before being given a human form it's likely all he could do was watch.

He's incredibly curious, and while he has a sort of spiritual bent for obvious reasons, he's very fond of human beliefs and sciences as well. He's fascinated by all of mankind's creations and thoughts and loves learning about them all, everything from music and the arts to neuroscience and psychology. He treats everything with some measure of enthusiasm, overjoyed just to see and understand what humans are capable of thinking and creating and feeling. He doesn't seem to fully understand everything that humans do and the way the society works, though, likely due to being kept isolated and contained for most of his life, and it leads to a lot of personal bubbles being popped and a good deal of confusion on his end.

Though he was meant to initiate Third Impact and reduce all of humanity into a single consciousness, Kaworu doesn't seem to desire that end, preferring the way humans can grow and change and feel and be hurt and happy and connect with others in the most beautiful ways. He developed a quick attachment to Shinji after recognizing his loneliness and desire to be loved, something so very human and delicate that it fascinated Kaworu, and he loved Shinji unconditionally, in a manner rather befitting of an "angel". Though he loved all of humankind, Kaworu seemed to find it plenty worthwhile to take care of and make just one person happy, and as they were going to sleep the night Shinji stayed over, he said he felt he might have been born just to meet him.

Of major significance to Kaworu's character is his being Tabris, the Angel of Free Will. Even though he was supposed to basically end humanity, he displayed signs of being against it entirely, and was relieved when Shinji came to stop him. He didn't want to destroy the life he'd come to love so much, and so he asked Shinji to kill him. Ironically enough, though he was supposed to embody free will, he had no choice in what he could do while alive under SEELE's command, so he expressed his will in the way he died, by the hand of someone he cared for deeply, and so humankind could live.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: [here's yet another person foreign to The World, unsure as to what brought them here and looking more than a little out of place. but this one seems at ease despite the situation, casually strolling through the paths of mac anu and smiling at everything, looking relaxed and unanxious and just generally happy to be alive.

which he is, of course. life was amazing, and he'd loved experiencing it, and so while dying had been for the greater good and all, it was rather nice to still be alive. he couldn't feel the instinctual pull towards adam, however faint distance could make it, so there was nothing to worry about here. nothing to do but explore and marvel over everything, wondering vaguely at why he was here but not all the concerned about it. humanity was safe, shinji would live, so if it meant he was here for whatever reason then so be it. it is what it is and all that.

idly, he remarked on the beauty of the island structure that could be seen distantly from the harbor dock, turning with a smile to the person that just happened to be standing next to him, and was didn't seem particularly bothered when they gave him an odd look and walked away -- the lilin had such peculiar and intricate rules to dictate when it was "right" to speak to others. it was fascinating, the variety of reactions that human displayed based on slight changes in circumstance, and he made a mental note to experiment with it further.

it looked like he'd have plenty of time anyway, in this place. he could enjoy it while the world permitted.]

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Protagonist (His name will be Shirou Asahi)
SERIES: Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2
CANON POINT: End of Day 7, Daichi’s Route
APPEARANCE: Did I ever tell you blue is my favourite colour
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: This one’s a bit difficult. Given the fact that this character here is a protagonist of an SMT game, and especially one of a Devil Survivor 2 game,
you are allowed to allocate your stats however way you like, making the protagonist a truly versatile character in terms of fighting ability. My general strategy is to make him a magic user who uses attacking spells and rarely buffs, debuffs or heals, so that is my main reason for giving him the class of Shadow Warlock.

PERSONALITY:Shirou’s personality is formed by the player’s choices, and
I'll be basing his personality off the choices I tended to choose for him in the game, if that is alright. Even then though, there are a few things that stand out from the dialogue choices you are given and can definitely be attributed to his overall personality.

First of all, he is confident. He is confident about his ability to fight, but is also very intuitive and a quick thinker. He knows when he can take on a battle, and when he should retreat (though, this being a video game, he obviously didn't retreat often). Sometimes his confidence goes as far as to make him sound arrogant, but he's got the skills to back up his boasts. It's also his confidence that keeps him calm and rational when everyone else is panicking, and allows him to ask the questions that need to be asked, or provide the answers if he knows them. Everyone around him looks to him as the leader due to these personality traits, with Yamato, leader of the organization he volunteered for, eventually viewing him in an extremely positive light. Said leader often praised him for being special, unique, having skills and abilities that put him far above the others. All of this can definitely be attributed to these traits of his personality not related to dialogue choices, which allowed him to excel in situations that even the toughest man would be scared of.

He also has a great sense of humour. In a fair amount of the dialogue choices given to him, he can choose to respond in a rather silly manner, such as "AWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHH" or "RAINBOWS!!!" as shown here. Even in serious situations, that kind of option can come up, sometimes earning him the ire of his friends. He is not adverse to poking fun at his friends, sometimes teasing his best friend Daichi about mishearing things, or even making a few perverted jokes. There's the occasional moment where his responses can be rather harsh, maybe even going too far. He really doesn't mean harm though, it's his form of helping the people around him, whether by changing the atmosphere to help his friends relax and focus, or by keeping the morale of the group up and afloat. This makes him easy to approach, so it's no wonder people tend to open themselves up to him. He tends to joke often, but he also knows when to be serious. It's this trait, plus his confidence and calmness that cause people to turn to him for guidance.

The part of him that relies most on dialogue choices are his views and perception of justice and fairness. In the Devil Survivor 2 game, two factions struggle with each other in an attempt to force their views of justice and fairness on each other. On Ronaldo's side, the resistance group fighting against JP'S, views of equality and community prevail. Essentially, it's a socialist point of view. On Yamato's side, the organization JP'S, the view of every man for himself prevails. Kind of like a capitalist idea. The strong and hard working will rise to conquer the weak, and they're the ones to get the benefits. Shirou is stuck in between, having to listen to both Ronaldo and Yamato, as well as his friends who have differing views on those ideas. It eventually accumulates to the player having to choose between, Ronaldo, Yamato, the neutral team, Daichi, and one other path, Alcor's. This version of the protagonist took Daichi's route. He did not agree with either Yamato or Ronaldo's extreme ideas, and decided that Daichi's idea, saving the world first and then thinking about those state of affairs, was a far better idea. If people were to ask him now what he thought about justice and fairness, his honest reply would be, "I don't know." Definitely, he sees the merits of both ideas, as well as disadvantages. But he can't bring himself to fully agree with one side, which is why he chose Daichi.

A few interesting things to note about Shirou: He likes to call people pervert. If you try hitting on him, or if the situation can be interpreted as perverted in the slightest bit, he will call you on it. It's part of his sense of humour, and he loves to tease people that fluster easily. He also apparently knows a bit of Spanish.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

[Well, it wasn't everyday when you went to sleep in the JP'S headquarters and woke up in an area that was clearly not Japan (or at least what's left of it). Shirou sat up, taking the time to yawn and stretch his arms before getting up and looking around the area. The architecture was very unlike anything he'd seen in Japan before. It was more like something he'd see from a video game.

Speaking of video games, the people in the area were dressed like video game characters too, with armor and capes and what have you. Even he was, he realized belatedly, raising his hand to examine the glove covering it. After a thorough look over his new outfit (it was pretty snazzy and comfortable too), he decided to explore the town a little. Maybe he could find out where he was.]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

It was 10pm, but Shirou wasn't sleepy. Not even with all the fighting he had to do, against Ronaldo, Yamato, and Benetnasch. It was hard to sleep when thoughts wouldn't stop bombarding your mind, after all. Tomorrow was the day. The day they'd meet Polaris to get him to rewind time, to set everything back to the way it was. Was that the right choice to make?

Shirou shuffled in his bed and decided to sit up. Maybe a little walk would help him clear his mind. Everyone was asleep by now, so he probably wouldn't meet anyone in the middle of his trip. He quietly slipped out of his room and began to slowly amble along the building's long hallways.

Daichi's idea was really only delaying the inevitable, but it was the best idea of all the ones presented to him. Ronaldo and Yamato's ideas were too extreme, despite both of their good intentions. Well, actually, Yamato's intentions were kind of questionable, but he probably meant well. He sighed. Having doubts now was a bad thing. Daichi's idea was great. They would turn back time, and change the world's path. That was their decision, and Shirou was going to stick to it. He would beat Polaris into submission if he had to to make it work, and that was that.

Satisfied with his resolution, Shirou turned back to head to his room, intent on getting a good night's sleep. You can't beat the universe's governor if you have sleep deprivation, after all!

QUESTIONS: In the FAQ it said that people could keep their magical abilities and skills. Is Shirou allowed to swap his skills around occasionally, or should I give him a set of skills that he keeps during his whole stay in HR?

Re: Ganymede | Olimpos | not reserved 2/3

[personal profile] restriction 2012-04-14 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
PERSONALITY: Ganymede was the prince of Troy, famous for his beauty. He was reputed for the way he shone and he was already known in neighboring countries. Despite his looks, the prince cared a lot about his country and people. He understood the needs of his people and he would listen to them. He was a determined man and wanted nothing but the best for his people. However he was quite clumsy, but that didn't stop him from being concerned. Ganymede wouldn't give up on them. He prayed to the Gods, asking for protection and to bless him and his people. The prince truly believed that he was adored by the Gods and sought for their aid. Little did he know, that the Gods would betray him afterward. Later on, he believed that he was a fool for trusting his country to them.

Ganymede had heard from his brother that the Gods would steal him away, due to his charm. The young prince couldn't believe it, eyes widening as he listened to his brother talk. He had lived the majority of his life, relying on the Gods and their benevolence. Soon, the prince understood his position, he would be offered to the Gods as a sacrifice. The people of his country had no choice, the Gods had decided his fate. At Ganymede's coming-of-age ceremony, Apollo swiftly stole the young prince away from his family. The image of wrath was burned into his mind, when Apollo let him take a gander at his brother before leaving the place he loved.

He arrived at Zeus' garden, which had been created for the sole purpose of being aesthetically pleasing to the eye for Ganymede. The flowerbed stretched across the terrain, there was no true end or beginning. Ganymede was destined to rot alone there, together with the flowers. Apollo had given him the gift of immortality, along with a sky covered with stars. Ganymede was far from interested in the garden, the only goal he truly had, was to escape from his place and end it all. He desperately yearned for an end. No such thing would ever happen, since there was no escape from Zeus' place.

The first days, Ganymede referred to Apollo as a demon, who needed to be murdered. He assumed that Apollo was a liar, because he had told him he couldn't escape the place. The prince strongly believed that the actual Lord Apollo wouldn't do this to him. Ganymede was shocked and soon realized that there was no exit. Apollo was correct, but he didn't want to acknowledge that. He searched the entire domain for an exit to this madness. He saw that the sun didn't rise and the stars didn't move. The prince didn't understand where he was. It must've been trickery. For a long time, Ganymede doubted Apollo's words, he longed for the truth. Apollo simply replied that there was no truth, much to Ganymede's dissatisfaction.

The next realization was that he was unable to die. Apollo had stabbed him in the chest, however nothing happened. Ganymede felt pain when Apollo had attempted to murder him, but that was all. He returned to the place he was caged in. Ganymede started to stab himself as well, in order to kill time. Apollo mocked the prince for his idiocy, the prince could care less. Killing time had become more important to him than the fear of pain or death. Ganymede no longer feared death, he yearned for it all to come to an end. He missed his brothers dearly and was proud of the way they fought without fear of death. He too, wanted to become like that. As he kept dying and returning back to where he was, his fear of death completely vanished. He had come to terms that death was no longer something to be afraid of. He was ready to die.

Ganymede was ashamed of himself and his actions. He hated himself more, every time he tried to commit suicide. He had made himself prone to anguishing over his thoughts. Although he was unable to escape according to Apollo, Ganymede continuously questioned him about the place and the Gods themselves. He knew he couldn't escape the place, but he still wanted to know about the Gods who he he had believed in. He was under the impression that Gods knew everything about this world, including the truth and lies of it. This impression ended when Apollo told him that Gods do not know everything yet.

The prince no longer feared the Gods until one peculiar moment. When Zeus had arrived, Ganymede was thoroughly afraid as his arrival felt like an earthquake. Never had he felt such an indescribable feeling. The God who had descended to visit him, was his master and capturer. Zeus was the only God whom Ganymede would not insult. Zeus never angered him, not even later on. He had insulted Apollo several times, belittling him. The presence of Apollo angered Ganymede, he had no intention to be courteous to him. Ganymede was easily angered, it did not take two words to anger the Trojan prince. He would quickly shout insults to those who did not respect him. He sulked daily like a child, he was never impressed by Apollo's words or actions.

When he met Hades, a spark of hope returned to him. Hades was in charge of the depths below the earth, the domain where light wouldn't touch. He told him that every domain beneath, belonged to him. Alas, Hades was not eager to help him and let him escape the Garden to rot below. Ganymede felt toyed with, by both Apollo and Hades. He was being dead serious each time he asked a question to them, but they continued to poke fun of him. The Gods riled him up until no end, only to disappoint him. He was made into a playtoy, a cheap pet kept in a garden. He was referred to as an object to overthrow Zeus, which had been Apollo and Hades their plan all along.

CHARACTER NAME: Hope Estheim
SERIES: Final Fantasy XIII
CANON POINT: Chapter 7, after the first fight with the Ushumgal Subjugator.
APPEARANCE: Just a kiddo. ☆
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING:
Harvest Cleric, I think. Two of his three primary roles in-game concentrate on healing and support, although he also makes the best black mage in the party (it's his third role, the Ravager), which is why I'm not completely sure about it. In other words, he's a pretty balanced mix of both, but if I have to choose just one class, it will be the healer. Somehow, I can't see him being a Macabre Dancer despite it combining both types of magic; in the world of FFXIII, inflicting status effects is the job of a different role entirely. Still, I'm ready to change the class if needed!

PERSONALITY:
Having led a peaceful, sheltered life before, Hope is by no means prepared for what his fate offers him - he's the 'kid' of the party, swept up in a war against the unfair world. This is why he's usually rather quiet and withdrawn - usually being the key word, as it's fairly easy to push his buttons. Get on his bad side, and you're more than likely to experience bratty fits from time to time.

Building invisible walls; this is how he escapes from facing the reality.

It does get slightly better, with time, although it's a slow process. Hope is unable to come to terms with his mother's death, desperately searching for the culprit, even though deep in his heart, he knows that nothing is able to bring back those who are gone. He strives for strength, only to be defeated by his own emotional fragility. Despite others' attempts at comfort, despair eventually win over the boy, and blinded by hatred, he almost kills a man in a misguided act of revenge.

Don't be fooled, however - as previously stated, it has not always been like this. Unfortunate circumstances force him to adopt such a posture, but in reality, he's a good natured child, as well as a helpful friend if given a chance. While he's not too quick to trust others, once he does, he holds his loved ones very close, because they are what drives him forward. Sure, Hope is still a teenager being, well, a teenager, but nothing beyond that - he might even crack a joke when he's in the mood! It might just require patience.

A lot of patience, but, well.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[ Hope's outstretched hand is empty, but he can still feel the coldness of the knife's handle; the sensation is so strong he's convinced that he's never let it go, yet...

His voice is quiet, like a whisper. ]

I don't get it.

[ The boy flexes his fingers when it slowly dawns on him that in fact, the sudden disappearance is hardly the biggest change. Everything feels different, and a quick look around only proves that whatever was the shift that has just occured, it's definitely not his hometown anymore. ]

N-no, it can't be... Am I...?

[ Dead? Swallowing, he tries to collect his thoughts, but neither this nor his attempt to prevent his body from trembling seems to have achieved a desired effect. Maybe it is over, and this is his punishment - yes, it would make sense.

Another glance around. No, it isn't how... it's supposed to look like, right? Only now people around him come into focus, some of them appearing to be as lost as he is, others smiling and chatting happily. And everyone, without exception, wears those bizarre clothes.

Without exception. Hope brings a hand to his chest, his fingers meeting soft leather. ]

Huh?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
Each step taken hurt, but it wasn't just physical pain he felt. They had never meant to take a detour, but with the way things had turned out, there was no going back. In an hour, maybe less, they would reach the apartment at Felix Heights. In the past, Hope used to call that apartment his home.

Home. Wasn't it supposed to be a place where you return to with joy? If so, he'd lost it with the moment his mother died - had it been a week? Or perhaps, it had already been a month since it happened, nobody seemed to pay attention anymore. Well, to him, it did feel like ages.

The boy sat still, his head leaning limply against the cold wall. His father didn't know anything yet, but would he care enough to listen? For all he knew, there wasn't even a guarantee that he hadn't gone out on one of his business trips, the kind that drags on forever. Though with the whole world being in an uproar, he probably spent entire days at work, anyway. Nothing ever changes.

Letting out an involuntary sigh, Hope slowly began to drift off.

CHARACTER NAME: Ivan
SERIES: Golden Sun I + II
CANON POINT: Just after the events of Golden Sun II: The Lost Age
APPEARANCE: [ the blond dude, not the feather thing ]
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept Rouge: Shadow Warlock + Twin Swords —this is based on the fact that in canon, Ivan is both a black-mage type character and a quick swordsman. He is both proficient with staves and shortswords, and despite being a glass cannon in terms of health and defense, he is powerful on the offence. Because of this, the dual classes of Shadow Warlock and Twin Swords would cover his canon attributes.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: n/A

PERSONALITY:

From an early RPG series that’s hell-bent on focusing on the quest for world salvation, Ivan is surprisingly one of the more developed characters in the series, at least in terms of backstory. And though Ivan is oblivious to his true origins in the beginning of the game, the exploration of his backstory via the game plotline honestly helps develop his character.

He is a quiet character, but that does imply in any way that he is shy or reticent. Quiet doesn’t necessarily imply inaction. Ivan’s sort of quiet is the watchful sort—he has a deeply observant nature and a quick mind. Couple that with his natural psynergy abilities and the intrinsically psychological aspects of Wind Psynergy in particular, and you have a character who is naturally gifted at quietly observing situations and pinpointing what’s often overlooked. Though he started off as a quiet and uncertain boy at the beginning of the game, he is tempered by the events in the game, and grows in confidence. By the canon point which he’s taken from, he’s become a mature and calm sort of character. During endgame, he comforts Felix on the ‘loss’ of his parents, and displays a quiet sort of maturity and awe in regards to the lit lighthouse. Though he had set off with Isaac and the others to prevent the lighting of the lighthouses, he ends up having to come to terms with the idea that he and Isaac’s party were wrong all along, and in lieu of the sacrifices they took to attempt to achieve their ideal, it was a bitter pill to swallow. His maturity shines through in that he does end up accepting the fact that they were wrong, and readily goes along with the party to fix their actions, and aid in the lighting of the lighthouses.

Like most protagonists, Ivan is a character with a strong sense of justice. You see this manifested time and again throughout the game in the decisions he makes. If Isaac’s spirit is flagging, Ivan is the one who insists that they don’t give up—that they have to save the people in trouble. After Hammet’s rescue, Ivan is the one who insists that the group doesn’t take time to dally, and instead head off after Felix immediately. When Sheba’s safety is used as a bargaining point for his Shaman’s Rod, Ivan gives up the Rod readily, despite the significance that Rod holds for him. When Ivan believes strongly in something, he will drive for it. On the other hand, while his sense of justice is strong, he knows where to draw the line. Even though Dodonpa had kidnapped Hammet and attempted to feed the party to monsters, Ivan still feels relief over the lack of severity of the other man’s injury, citing that it’s all right, since Hammet is safe now. He doesn’t see a need to prolong a grudge, and in that, he is very fair towards others.

His efforts also show a great deal of persistence in his character, and this can lead to stubbornness – despite all evidence to the contrary, he insists on feeling guilty for the loss of Hammet’s Rod in the beginning of the game, and carries that sense of guilt all the way until the group completes Hammet’s rescue. His ability to pile fault on himself is kind of amazing, considering how many things happen in between his losing of the rod and the absolution of his guilt. This also shows that he is very hard on himself, and tends to be fairly self aware.

Speaking of self-awareness, Ivan’s condition as a Jupiter Adept has left some long-lasting scars on his character. Because of his mind-reading abilities, those around him who did not have psynergy abilities often regarded him as ‘creepy’ and ‘weird’, and at the beginning of the game, you can see that he’s very much aware of the way other see him, and that at that point, he’s begun to internalize some of those concepts. Though he opens up around those who share his psynergy skills, and become comfortably friends with the people of his party, he does not let go of that discomfort entirely, and would probably feel uncomfortable around people who do not understand his ability. He’s gotten a lot better about socializing and trusting others, but because of his ‘social status’ as Hammet’s apprentice and because of his generally gloomy exterior and tendency to act strangely (in the eyes of those who do not possess psynergy), he probably grew up without any true friends or companions.

On the same vein pertaining to his psynergy abilities, being a Jupiter Adept gives him a strange sort of half-developed precognition that manifests as his intuition of a sort. He gets a bad feeling when terrible things are on the horizon, and he cites himself that he hates it when he’s right. In a way, he probably dislikes the fact that he’s the bearer of bad news when it comes to things like this, and his sharp intuition makes it hard for him to break free of his pessimism. However, throughout the game, he clearly develops so that rather than staying as a gloomy pessimist, develops into a realistic who hinges on the optimistic. He acts as a counterweight to the party as a whole, and provides valuable insight into things. In a way, he’s very much wise for his age, but in other ways, he’s still very naïve.

He does get emotional when it comes to things that he’s uncertain of, and when he loses his confidence in his ability to act in a certain situation, he backslides and reverts more or less back to his uncertain, quiet self, as seen whenever he encounters Hama and is unsure of how to act around her. And while he’s quick to chide himself, it honestly makes him uncertain at times.

Beyond that, when he isn’t under tremendous pressure to save the world as we know it (and even when he is), Ivan is a quiet but fairly cheerful and observant boy who can be very playful at times—at endgame, he partakes in joking around with Jenna, even when they’re on the verge of confronting the Wise One, who is the equivalent of the boss behind the boss. He is both a moodmaker and a realist, a wise individual and a childish one, and a character who’s both volatile and calm.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

[ there’s a boy sitting on a tree.

well, of course there is. what else are trees for but places where people can sit on them? though this particular boy doesn’t look particularly happy to be in that tree, and in fact, he’s kind of squinting down at ground level as though searching for something in particular. ]

… I could’ve sworn it was around here somewhere. It’s not like I threw it or anything. It shouldn’t have gone far.

[ another pause as more squinting continues. he lifts a hand over his eyes to cut off the glare from the sun above, and takes in the scenery around him with almost abject suspicion. ]

… Is it gone? Oh, good. I thought it’d never leave.

[ and he seems to be talking to himself. though he sounds rather natural as he’s doing it—perhaps he does this often? nevertheless, he seems to have come to a conclusion for he visibly relaxes a little. and then, crouching on the branch as though to jump off—

the small monster at the base of the trunk makes a snarling noise, and snaps at his feet. Ivan makes an agitated noise, and all but groans. ]

Why is it just one thing after another--?

[ he’ll just. climb up another branch. yep. ]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

Of course, it takes him a while to figure out how to activate his game-given powers. It’s a few tries before he realizes that his psynergy is interfering, somehow, with the way the magic that he supposedly possessed in this setting worked. It takes him another few tries to figure out how just how the magic here worked. After that, the going gets easier. In fact, he’s almost surprised at how natural it comes to him. and well even a non-native like him can tell the spells that he’s able to conjure up are basic at best, it’s nice to know that he can figure out the mechanics here, despite how different everything is.

The difference is honestly frightening. Though he’s pretty much traveled all around the known world (and to parts of the world that weren’t known, really) this place as a whole completely confounds him. Though fighting and running from monsters is something that he’s very much accustomed to, the lack of information he had on the various beasts around here was kind of disheartening, and the lack of effect that his psynergy had on some of these creatures even more so. However, the discovery that he could use the powers that were granted to him in this world is a hopeful prospect—it’s possible that he could do more, now, with these powers.

It’s not like he wants to go on a genocidal rampage, he remarks to himself, sarcastically, but it would be awfully nice if things around these parts could just go right for once.

Taking up another stance, he scans the area for signs of monsters. And when he comes up with an all-clear, he huffs, and goes back to practicing these strange techniques.

You might as well fight fire with fire.

CHARACTER NAME: Apollo
SERIES: Olimpos
CANON POINT: Post end-series
APPEARANCE: [ behold, a pretty boy. … yeah. ]
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Shadow Warlock—can’t… really see him be anything else. As a character, he doesn’t really get physical with other characters, and in canon, he’s more of the ‘sitting on a pedestal in a high-and-mighty manner while shooting spells at you’ sort of character, so… yeah. Unless there’s a class that utilizes bow and arrows, which also fits his general character as the ‘twin’ of ‘Artemis’.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: n/A

PERSONALITY:

The key to Apollo’s personality is that he is inquisitive – inquisitive in the way that a person who sees everything can be inquisitive. This is shown by the fact that he’s all but run out of material to ‘say’, for god says nothing but the truth, but it also makes him incapable of lying to himself. He has all but figured out the truths of the world from attempting to ‘say’ them aloud, though that in itself is but an impression of his. He has the impression that he knows the one truth of the world, and over the course of the manga, that impression shifts so that realizes that there are things even he does not know of, and his awareness of the things that he is not aware is one of those things that he was previously unaware of.

To put it simply, he wasn’t aware that he didn’t know, and only until he said it aloud to Ganymede did he realize that there are things even he doesn’t know. And because of Apollo’s inquisitive personality, he immediately wants to know why. Little things that contradict his line of thinking bothers him easily, and he is the sort of character to brood when things begin to conflict. Apollo likes his time alone, and while he too experiences boredom from the task of killing a millennia’s worth of time, he has the tendency to fall into deep thought without any awareness of the things around him. Another paradox. A god is supposed to ‘see’ all, but while he is thinking, there are even things that he cannot hear.

As a character, he gives off a higher air born of confidence, but not necessarily pride. Because he is above the lives of so many people, being a god, he, at the beginning of the manga, did not particularly want to get to know them. And because of this, he doesn’t have a sense of ‘pride’ in himself so much as it’s a simple feeling of the things as the way they are. He is analytical, logical, but also prone to irrational bursts of anger – Hades’ mere presence makes him irritated, and he professes to Artemis that it is because he doesn’t understand what the heck the other is saying. Thus, it’s clear to the reader that Apollo doesn’t like the unknown, and doesn’t like the thought of not knowing something. He gets irrationally irritated when he doesn’t know something, and is prone to throwing tantrums.

It’s never clearly defined in the manga what exactly ‘Artemis’ is. Apollo believes that Artemis is his beautiful older sister, and for the longest time, Artemis was the only thing of value to him. However, Hades reveals to Apollo that Artemis is but his ‘mirror’, and that a mirror only reflects him when he is there. Thus, ‘Artemis’ isn’t a being on her own, but rather a figment of Apollo’s imagination. He cannot refute Hades’ statement, and thus this is the truth. However, he seems to be genuinely confused as to what Artemis really is. If Artemis is his mirror, then are the things she says but a reflection of what his heart is saying?

This is a vital part of his characterization, as Artemis gives us insight into what Apollo truly thinks beneath his mask, a part of Apollo that not even Apollo himself was aware of. Artemis becomes upset when Apollo attempts to tell her that she is a mirror, and constantly tries to change the subject to something more pleasant – which shows that Apollo is upset by this revelation, enough to want to deny it. Artemis also repeatedly tells Apollo that she loves him – which may be a reflection of Apollo’s heart. Apollo loves himself, and because he treasures Artemis and Artemis is his mirror, then perhaps he treasures himself above all.

He really is an egotistical being. But it’s the sort of egotistical thinking that doesn’t show arrogance. He thinks of himself first and foremost, and has only recently begun to see humans as ‘individuals’ rather than ‘insects’. He isn’t ‘arrogant’ in the traditional sense of the word in that he doesn’t take that sort of pride in his abilities, accepting them for merely what they are. He can perform things that humans cannot. He is above the human race. It’s the way things are, and he doesn’t think of it anymore than just fact.

However, because of his inquisitive nature, Apollo has recently begun to immerse himself in human culture. ‘Befriending’, in the loosest way of putting it possible, a young girl called Iris, he eventually begins to question things to do with human nature in an attempt to understand them. For Apollo, it’s a way to kill time, but it also definitively shows his inquisitive nature. He is eternally bored, due to his godhood, and thus he likes interesting things. If something can challenge his way of thinking and give him insight to what he previously doesn’t know, then he will obsess over it.

That kind of an obsessive behavior can be gleaned through Artemis, who questions why Apollo became so focused on Iris to the point of which that was all he talked about during their ‘conversations’. And Apollo becomes genuinely confused as to why that is.

As a character, Apollo is a selfcentric character. Time doesn’t mean anything to a being who lives outside of it, and he doesn’t seem to understand what it feels like to not die, for gods cannot die. However, he is impatient, so one can say that his pace is rather quick. He becomes irrationally impatient if the other he is speaking to is stupid, and he cannot stand idiocy – in fact, he looks down on those who he’s deemed to be ‘idiots’, shown by the way he clearly looks down upon Poseidon. However, if the idiot is entertaining enough, he stands a chance of sticking around just to see what makes them tick. He is always trying to understand something, and once that thing has been understood, it becomes ‘boring’, and thus cast aside.

He shows this sort of behavior with people. Poseidon is simple-minded and fairly straightforward, and because Apollo has had an eon to understand him, Poseidon is a very boring person to him. But Iris is interesting, for while she is an idiot, she gives him insight to human nature. Ganymede, he also considers as an idiot, but Ganymede is entertaining to look at simply because he does spontaneous things that not even Apollo can fully predict, and thus he finds Ganymede interesting.

He also finds Ganymede interesting because Ganymede is beautiful. As a character, Apollo likes beautiful things. He likes his own face – this is shown in a conversation with Artemis, who says that ‘you are more beautiful than I am, Apollo’, and how he doesn’t deny it. He also professes that he keeps Ganymede around simple because he’s pretty enough to be not boring to look at. One can say that Apollo’s interest in someone is directly proportional to how entertaining and beautiful they are, and one can say that Apollo is a very shallow god because of it.

He is also fickle, shown time and again to cleverly go back on his word, and because of his inability to lie, he’s developed ways to speak the truth in a round-about way enough so he can take his words back later without repercussion. Because of this, he can be classified as a troll. He likes riling people up and taking a look at their reactions – it’s both entertainment and his way of fishing for information.

All in all, Apollo is shallow, fickle, mocking, but a surprisingly diligent thinker, and he doesn’t know himself well enough to be able to define himself as anything more than a god. And that is what Apollo is.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

[ why don’t you have a pretty boy floating over your head-- ]

And just what are you doing with… that.

[ … he must mean your relic, since he’s kind of pointing at it the way a nobleman would point to something small, furry and utterly disgusting. the first thing you might notice is that his eyes are technicolour. the next thing you should notice is that he really is floating, and god why-- ]

When a God speaks, you should answer, you know? So speak.

[ … well, that explains it. ]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

What was decidedly strange about these portals, he thinks, was that they led to nowhere interesting.

Large dimensional hops should be interesting. It isn’t as though he is going to go through all that effort to find a gate like this, walk through it, and find himself reappearing in an area stuffed to the ears full of grass and monsters and other distasteful things—just like every other area he’s gone through at this point. In a way, it tries his patience. It’s annoying that something like this makes absolutely no sense and comes to absolutely no fruition, and while he will admit that for the mortals, it must be an invigorating mode of travel, it’s something dull for a God who is used to appearing and disappearing instantaneous from just about anywhere.

It’s almost annoying how whatever system that is at work here replaced his usual ‘mode’ of appearing and disappearing with this system of unwieldy gates and annoying devices that he has no intention of learning how to work.

Still, though, it doesn’t explain why, time and again, he finds himself drawn to warp through those gates. Maybe it’s the idea that there might be something of worth at the other end if he picks the right combination—or maybe it’s just the fact that there are so many possible combinations, that his endless curiosity can’t be satisfied until he’s gone through all of them and ascertained for himself that there really was nothing of interest but more land and monsters and the occasional mortal who sold things. It makes him scowl a little to think that he’s killing time with such an inane and inelegant method.

But then again, time killed is time killed, and for a being who lives outside of time, he can’t exactly call it a ‘waste’. Not if time is killed in the end.

Therefore, he picks another set of words, and walks through the gate.

CANON POINT: End of episode 23
APPEARANCE: Normal and Fourze
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING:

Adept Rogue – Primary: Tribal Grappler|Secondary: Steam Gunner
My reasoning is, in canon Gentaro fights with switches that use different kinds of abilities, giving him a wide range of ways to attack. Grappler was my first choice for him since when the switches are not active, he primarily fights with his fists. Steam Gunner was second, and a harder choice, but it felt more suitable than any of the magic-focused classes.

[personal profile] manliest_of_men 2012-04-15 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
PERSONALITY:

Gentaro Kisaragi is commonly mistaken for a delinquent due to his pompadour hairstyle and way of dress, leading people to think he is a bad kid. This couldn’t be farther from the truth with him- In reality, he is possibly the friendliest person you could meet, along with overly confident, loud, and energetic. Gentaro is one of those kinds of guys who will do anything for his friends, and even goes so far as to put them before himself in any kind of situation. Friendship is the most important thing to Gentaro- even first and foremost upon his introduction in the series, he makes his goal known, that he will befriend everyone in the school. His friendships are placed above all else, and he cares for them all greatly. Although with some people, like JK who betrayed him and stole from him, Gentaro said that he accepts people's faults and that's why they are his friends! Still though, when Ryusei attempts to first join the Kamen Rider Club, Gentaro turns him down saying that his smiles are fake and that his real self doesn’t shine through. It takes Ryusei punching him in the face later on out of anger to let him join, as he had punched him with all of his heart and revealed his true self underneath. The fact that only Gentaro could tell the smiles weren’t real shows that he is at least good at telling someone’s true colors to an extent- he’s still not aware that Ryusei is Meteor, although.

One thing he does very frequently is give motivational speeches. "Pain is nourishment for the heart"! Gentaro is actually pretty emotional about certain things, and his motivational speeches show this frequently. Besides them, he also will cry when someone he considers his friend tells him a sad story about themselves, as he feels for them so strongly.

Gentaro’s very capable of adapting to new switches powers when he first uses them, usually having only small difficulties with them- especially when he first starts out as Fourze. His strengths don’t just lie in the switches he uses in battle, he motivates himself to keep moving onward. For example, when fighting the witch, because his heart was so set on helping Nozama. This plus his title as a Kamen Rider- a hero who fights evil as you could guess, push him further past his limits when he needs to.

Although his school work is lacking, Gentaro pulls through when he needs to and is a hard worker in other areas. He trained himself on the moon to make sure he could perfect his use of the switches, such as Hopping, and goes out of his way to help others even when it’s bad for him. As he put it himself, if he doesn't keep his word his heart dies, so it won't matter if he does. Gentaro even goes as far as to try and save Miura from using the zodiart switch even though he was poisoned and could barely move. His reckless behavior doesn’t stop him from calling Kengo reckless for risking his life to save him in return, though. Working harder for his friends than for himself is just natural for him to do, but even in the case of Kengo being trapped on the moon he still went after the Zodiart to stop them before looking for a way to save his friend, because that is what Kengo would have wanted. He also told Yuki to go on and sing for the Kindergarteners while he took care of the Zodiart at the time, because even though that had been the current situation, fun times were still a necessity.

Other little facts about him:
-Gentaro is bad at art and doesn’t “get” art, either.
-He’s good at balancing things (on his head and two straws at once).
-It’s implied that he doesn’t know katakana well at all ("I bet you think you look smart since you use katakana!" said to Kengo once; Also mistakes words for other ones frequently (“Trashiest of Trash” as “Manliest of Men” – “Hebu/Left out” as “Hebi/Snake”)
-He can drive a motorbike.
-Gentaro isn’t good at math.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

Gentaro had been in The World for quite some time now, and during his time here he had noticed signs advertising for guilds. Not being sure what that was exactly, the boy had spent plenty of his time questioning the NPCs and other players…much to their annoyance at his brash exclamations at all of their explanations, while some full-out avoided the poor boy due to his delinquent-like appearance. The answers he did receive thrilled him, though!.It was basically like a club, just like the Kamen Rider Club back home!

Of course, this caused him to start making (very crudely drawn) signs for the Kamen Rider Guild and hanging them all over town. Too bad the guy didn’t know how to go about making a guild, so the signs were advertising something that didn’t even exist…Gentaro had just finished putting up possibly his fiftieth sign at this rate before stopping to take a breather.

“Ahh, a good day of hard work like this is great for the spirit!” He rubbed his forearm across his forehead, sighing in relief, “This is bound to attract some members!! I can’t wait, the Kamen Rider Club will flourish here as well as back at Amanogawa High School for sure!!”
