SO, you've read the F.A.Q., the rules, checked that the character you're interested in is free and not reserved, and now you're ready to apply? Great! We're ready to accept you! The application description is below, and the form is ready for your copypasta convenience just underneath it! Please submit all applications in comments to this post with the subject "chara name | series". Have a seat, and drink some tea. We'll get right to you! At this time, we do NOT allow application challenges. Sorry about that! It's all first-come, first-serve. You can apply for TWO (2) characters per round, with a maximum of SIX (6) characters allowed altogether. RESERVES are not necessary. We run on a first-come, first-served system, but if you reserve your place is guaranteed for apps. REQUESTS will always be as clear as possible on what we believe was lacking and expect to see written into the application, but feel free to ask for clarification and we'll reply as soon as possible. You have seventy-two (72) hours to revise, or your application will be revoked. Although you're more than welcome to ask for an extension if for some reason you're unable to complete in time, within reason. REJECTIONS will also have clearly-stated reasons, and you'll be more than welcome to re-apply next month. However, we ask that if you're rejected three times in a row, you please try your hand at another character. WHEN ACCEPTED, please read and follow the directions in the welcome copypasta closely! We don't ask for a terrible amount, but we do note that some things are mandatory for the game and it helps greatly with organization! DID YOU PLAY IN HOLYRELIC BEFORE? We have a special rule for that! If you're repicking a character you had in HR before we closed previously, we're upholding our promise that your character can come back with their memories, THREE (3) event items of your choosing, and half of their levels. (I.E: Gauche was level 42 thereabouts, he'll be 21 to start.) Just comment to the apps with an updated player/character section to reclaim! CHARACTER NAME: Lu Xun, styled Boyan
SERIES: Dynasty Warriors (based heavily on his appearance in Dynasty Warriors 7)
CANON POINT: At the end of Wu's storyline, when temporary peace has been achieved.
APPEARANCE: Here! He used to have a hat. And feathers. But now, braids are in.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept Rogue; Twin Blade & Macabre Dancer. Lu Xun's base weapon in all his appearances save one are twin sabers, which makes the first class an easy pick. The seventh rendition in the series features a game mechanic where characters can switch weapons mid-battle in the same manner as Adept Rogues in .hack can.
However, Lu Xun is not so much a fighter as a strategist, one who plans; the role of a strategist can be compared to the role of a caster class supporting from the back. The pick of Macabre Dancer over the other caster classes is not simply because of the class' dual wielding capabilities; in a spin-off game, Lu Xun's affinity lies first in Blades, closely followed by Tech -- where fans in that game fall under. Also, there is a running joke in the series and its spin-offs where Lu Xun will either be the one launching a fire attack or end up admiring a successful fire attack; this is a character that will appreciate the ability to light things on fire without oil or matches but won't use it without reason.
PERSONALITY:
A self-effacing young officer, he always conducts himself with sincerity … He encapsulates both the liveliness of youth and the wisdom of resourcefulness.
Lu Xun is fire, burning. One of the scions of the Lu family, he is youthful and dynamic. Learning challenges him, challenges excite him. There is no lack of passion or conviction in his words or actions once he has settled on a thought or a belief; Lu Xun has a duty he must accomplish and he will burn everything obstructing him in order to reach it.
Lu Xun is water, adapting. A scholar at heart, he is intelligent and wise, insightful and perceptive. He goes with the flow, watching the momentum on the battlefield and comes up with plans on the fly. When the officers under his command resist his orders, he doesn't despair. Instead, he goes out to fight, earning their respect, and ends the battle with a landslide victory in his favour.
Lu Xun is metal, persisting. Strict with himself and serious in his duty, he stands firm in the path he has chosen, steeling himself against those who would try to sway him. He can be overly stubborn. He can be strong. He is honest and kind and will flatter no one. He will fight and keep fighting for the sake of his dreams and visions of the future.
Lu Xun is earth, standing. Reasonable and practical, while he seeks victory in his strategies, he will not sacrifice others in vain. He is stable, responsible and mature, the foundation of Wu's plans and its newest Supreme Commander. He works hard and trains hard and remains faithful and unwavering.
Lu Xun is wood, expanding. He knows he is young, he knows he is inexperienced, he knows the world is cruel and that people must fight one another in order to survive. Still, he sees a possible future where people live in harmony. Lu Xun subconsciously compares himself to his predecessors and knows that he has a lot more to learn, a lot more to grow. He strives to be the best he can, knowing that he has a part to play in guiding his country.
Lu Xun, though known for his humility and sincerity, is capable of deception. He can be sneaky and devious, ruthless and cunning, baiting and trapping his enemies. The landscape of China is one of bloodshed and one where a warrior must do whatever it takes to protect their home and the people they care for. For his lord, for his country, for his comrades, Lu Xun is willing.
A loyal follower and a thoughtful commander, he addresses others politely and seemingly keeps them at a distance. However, when given the chance, he becomes an admiring subordinate or an encouraging friend.
Though burdened by family name and inexperience, Lu Xun succeeds with talent and willpower. He is potential waiting to fulfil and a shining star of a brighter future.

WELCOME to Holy Relic! There are a few things we'd like to ask of you before jumping in, so please read below and head on over to our welcome post with some ideas for journal setup and a slightly more detailed rehash of the steps below.
(one.) Create your character journal if you haven't already done so, and join the following game communities:
(two.) Comment to our taken series list if your canon hasn't already been posted (or you're an original character, in which case they go in the 'original characters' series post!).
(three.) We have an AIM chat at holyrelic that everyone is more than welcome to join, but if you don't want invites, just let a mod know! There's also a mod plurk for events, app/reserve opening and closing, and asking for occasional quick opinions.
Lastly, we have a comprehensive permissions post with comments by anyone that needs replying to-- this would be for characters with abilities that affect others, such as ability-copying, cannibalism, random violence and so on. If your character has an ability where you'll need permission from others, please make a post in their journal and link to it on the comprehensive permissions post. Then please comment around to any listed posts and help your fellow players out!
