(applications are closed.)
opening october 8th at 00:01 GMT-8.
closing october 14th at 23:59 GMT-8.

SO, you've read the F.A.Q., the rules, checked that the character you're interested in is free and not reserved, and now you're ready to apply? Great! We're ready to accept you! The application description is below, and the form is ready for your copypasta convenience just underneath it! Please submit all applications in comments to this post with the subject "chara name | series". Have a seat, and drink some tea. We'll get right to you!

At this time, we do NOT allow application challenges. Sorry about that! It's all first-come, first-serve. You can apply for TWO (2) characters per round, with a maximum of SIX (6) characters allowed altogether.

RESERVES are not necessary. We run on a first-come, first-served system, but if you reserve your place is guaranteed for apps.

REQUESTS will always be as clear as possible on what we believe was lacking and expect to see written into the application, but feel free to ask for clarification and we'll reply as soon as possible. You have seventy-two (72) hours to revise, or your application will be revoked. Although you're more than welcome to ask for an extension if for some reason you're unable to complete in time, within reason.

REJECTIONS will also have clearly-stated reasons, and you'll be more than welcome to re-apply next month. However, we ask that if you're rejected three times in a row, you please try your hand at another character.

WHEN ACCEPTED, please read and follow the directions in the welcome copypasta closely! We don't ask for a terrible amount, but we do note that some things are mandatory for the game and it helps greatly with organization!

DID YOU PLAY IN HOLYRELIC BEFORE? We have a special rule for that! If you're repicking a character you had in HR before we closed previously, we're upholding our promise that your character can come back with their memories, THREE (3) event items of your choosing, and half of their levels. (I.E: Gauche was level 42 thereabouts, he'll be 21 to start.) Just comment to the apps with an updated player/character section to reclaim! No need for samples. :)

Applications can be screened for privacy after they've been judged, so please add a note if you'd like it screened.

CHARACTER NAME: Your character's name.
SERIES: The series your character is from; anime, manga, book, television, video game, you name it! Just give us a link.
CANON POINT: The point in time that your character is being applied from.
APPEARANCE: A link to an image, and/or an optional description if there's anything not covered in the image.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: The class you'd like your character to be! We ask that you follow any canon inclination towards fighting types and state what they were previously, but if your character is someone that has never held a sword before, never took karate, and comes from a regular world with no magic, please provide a brief reasoning as to why you've picked what class you did!
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: ONLY FOR PLAYERS FROM HR'S LAST INCARNATION! Please note what their halved level will be and the three event items you'd like to keep. :) (if this doesn't apply to you-- 98% of you-- just remove this line. ♥)

PERSONALITY: Your character's personality; this needs to be written by you, though! We'd like at least two solid paragraphs, although three would be great!

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: A first-person sample-- or a journal/action post-- in the game's context. Anything you might use as a post in the game would be just fine here, but you don't need to use what you put in your application as your first post! Please do keep in mind that while journal posts are more natural to write for samples, we have no network in The World-- everything is face to face. All entries to the main community will be action posts! :)

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: A third-person sample-- or log style-- that accurately displays your character's personality and motivations. Setting doesn't matter! We just ask that you please not write a sample about your character first arriving, because it greatly limits their usual personality and reactions. We aren't too particular about length but please write at least two or three paragraphs so we have something to work with! Also, if you've previously been accepted with another character and you're currently in the game, you do NOT need to write a third-person sample!

CHARACTER NAME: Matsukaze Tenma
SERIES: Inazuma Eleven GO (… and Tenma's page as well)
CANON POINT: Episode 45
APPEARANCE: So cool!

DESIRED CLASS & REASONING:
I think that Tenma would fit as an Blade Brandier. Blade Brandier is the closest relative to the kind of role that Tenma plays on his soccer team. On his team, Tenma assists the strikers (who would maybe in comparison be better suited as an Edge Punisher) in attacks on the other team's goal. He's a talented player but is average in terms of strength and maybe a little above average in speed.

Tenma is a soccer player and in the Inazuma Eleven and Inazuma Eleven GO canons soccer is about as magical and powerful as any mmorpg fighter. Tenma possesses an avatar, or "keshin", named Majin Pegasus Arc. He also has a number of killer "hissatsu" techniques at his disposal. All hissatsu techniques are based on an element, and every one of Tenma's is backed by a wind element. All hissatsu techniques in the Inazuma Eleven universe are quite powerful and could deal real damage if they were used with that intention, making Tenma and other Inazuma Eleven characters quite dangerous when armed with a soccer ball.

PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: n/a

PERSONALITY:
The most important thing to know about Matsukaze Tenma? That, gosh, this kid sure does love soccer. Really. To the point that all of his hopes and dreams revolve around becoming a soccer player. Since being saved at a young age by a soccer ball with a lightning bolt drawn onto it, it has been his dream to play in Raimon Middle School's soccer club.

Tenma shares his enthusiasm for soccer with Endou Mamoru. Endou had been the goalkeeper and captain of victorious Inazuma Japan and for a period of time coaches Raimon's soccer team. The two of them both have a passion for soccer that doesn't allow them to see it as just a game. For these soccer freaks, it's a way of life. Not being able to play an honest game of soccer for both Tenma and Endou is unacceptable and they both insist on overturning any Fifth Sector policy that denies soccer's integrity. People that knew Endou themselves (first Coach Kudou and Haruna, who experience first hand Tenma's excitement for soccer the very first day he shows up to join the club) recognizes the similarity between them, and perhaps because of that Tenma is so easily accepted into the Raimon team by the coach and counselor.
For Endou, loving soccer and enjoying the game is more important than being talented and winning games. Winning is great and all, but there's no shame in playing and losing to a team that might be even better than your own. Rather than just a loss that experience becomes an opportunity to learn a new kind of soccer. Tenma would agree with his coach completely. Because they both have such strong feelings for soccer, Tenma looks up to Endou as a player.
Both of them also, but Tenma especially, refer to soccer as if it were a thinking, feeling being. He pretty often says that soccer is sad or crying when people aren't playing soccer honestly and all-inclusively.

Because of that spirit, Tenma has no problem getting along with just about anybody. He puts his faith in people to do the right thing. Most notable is his optimism when it comes to dealing with SEEDs- most importantly his teammate Tsurugi Kyousuke. Tsurugi is a first year on the team but joined under very different circumstances than Tenma. As a SEED, Tsurugi was placed in Raimon's team mostly to keep an eye on their coach, Kudou Michiya. To make his point, Tsurugi takes out Raimon's second team single-handedly. The fear that ripples through the soccer club that Fifth Sector will destroy their soccer is enough for all but some members of the first team to disband. Tenma (and Shinsuke) of course join the team anyways. And despite Tsurugi's initial bad intentions, Tenma is the first member of the team to forgive Tsurugi and to trust him as a teammate.
Tsurugi is also one of the first non-coaches to recognize Tenma's potential as a player. Tsurugi on occasion takes it upon himself as the most powerful player on the team to practice one-on-one with Tenma with the intention of drawing out Tenma's abilities. It's usually quite rare to actually find Tsurugi so interested in another player, especially early on, but Tenma manages to be something special. To be noticed in the eyes of an ex-SEED like Tsurugi, who is used to being surrounded by talent as a member of Fifth Sector's force, is pretty significant and confirms that Tenma does have potential to be a great player.

Tenma is very good at recognizing the best parts of a person's personality and actions and it becomes the base that he uses to judge them. Tsurugi isn't an exception in his ability to trust in Fifth Sector's SEEDs. SEEDs in other teams aren't necessarily enemies to Tenma either. Everyone has a reason for their situation they're in. Their situation can always change, as well as their spirit. Tenma allows himself to judge through someone's soccer playing rather than a bad attitude or their being in a compromised position. It's Tenma's positive attitude that allows teammates and challengers to play at their best- and it's Tenma's honest and passionate soccer that almost always brings out the best in others. He says, "Even if they're strangers, you can quickly become friends after standing on the same grounds and chasing the ball together."

In Tenma's fight against Fifth Sector he of course faces some difficult emotional challenges as the kid stirred up this soccer revolution. But these are all short lived drawbacks for Tenma's usually cheerful personality. Tenma's ability to bounce back after difficult situations is maybe unusual but also impressive. It never takes long for him to overcome his own doubts. However his experiences show that he can't do it all by himself. Tenma might be cheerful even all by himself but it doesn't mean he doesn't ever rely on the support of his friends.

But Tenma of course gives out plenty of support to his friends and teammates as well. He might not be the best player on the team but he is always ready to help them during practice. Tenma is very friendly and helpful to new students and new members to the club. When the new members Kariya Masaki and Kageyama Hikaru transfer into the school and join the team, Tenma is the first to welcome and accept them. Kariya comes to the team with plenty of experience and knowledge of the sport, but Kageyama joins as a true beginner. Tenma and the other first years on the team are quite close and are always ready to help each other out, no matter what their skill level. Tenma himself says that it takes all sorts of players to make up a team.
Tenma isn't alone in the team as someone that is always willing to help his teammates improve. Also, his ability to bond with the members of other teams through his soccer mean that Tenma and the rest of Raimon has the benefit of the experience and feelings of soccer players outside their own team.
And he of course doesn't try to help just on the field. Most importantly was his ability to restore the will to play free soccer to Shindou Takuto. As captain of Raimon's first team, without him Tenma wouldn't have been able to rally the support of the other players as well. It's because of Tenma's first ability to win over Shindou that the rest of the team slowly became motivated to win the Holy Road championship and take soccer back from Fifth Sector.

As he becomes a more experienced soccer player, Tenma learns how to become a true leader. When captain Shindou Takuto is hospitalized in the semi-final match, the team agrees that Tenma should be the player that takes his place as captain. Tenma accepts the position and is very humble about it. He accepts from the beginning that it will be a challenge for him to lead Raimon in the final game but tries his best to make up for Shindou's absence. The team follows Tenma's orders and suggestions despite his inexperience as captain.

Even non-soccer players seem to rally behind Tenma's passion for soccer. The girls that become Raimon's managers owe it to Tenma for wanting to be apart of the team at all (maybe with the exception of Akane, who has a crush on team captain Shindou Takuto). Aoi is Tenma's childhood friend and she is very supportive of him. Midori is an upperclassmen that mostly just seems inspired by his spirit and rallies behind him to bring the team together.
If that's not enough, Tenma tends to get along with animals as well. He has a dog called Sasuke that he has taken care of since he was little. Sasuke was even part of that important moment in Tenma's childhood when he was saved by a soccer ball.

And finally, even though this kid is pretty great and all, Tenma can be sometimes be kind of absentminded and is sort of a ditz. He probably owes this to his naturally being so happy-go-lucky. And as far as his academics go, it's uncertain how he does but it might be assumed that he's no shining star in the classroom. When shown scenes that take place in class, Tenma often seems preoccupied over a new technique or a big game. Soccer seems to take priority over his schoolwork.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

Captain? Coach?

[ Tenma calls out and looks around for his friends and teammates. He has only just landed in this place and he already is lost and alone. Even his dog, Sasuke, isn't with him anymore! ]

… Anybody?

[ Tenma shrugs and looks down at the device in his hand. He had given up a long time ago trying to work the Relic, and he wonders if that's the key to finding some help. He's not particularly good at working electronics- still learning tips and tricks about his mobile from Tsurugi and Aoi back home- and it doesn't help that this one doesn't even resemble anything he had ever used before.

He drops the Relic back into a pocket and trudges on, determined to find someone or something familiar.
]

I'm sure I'll be able to find someone eventually!
… Right?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
(This app is being reused from my Soul Campaign app, I hope that's okay!)

Tomorrow is a big game, and Tenma's got to get some sleep so he can play at his best. There is a lot on the line, after all. If they win the game against Arakumo, then Raimon moves forward to play in the finals. If Raimon wins that game and takes the tournament it doesn't just mean an exciting win for their team. Fifth Sector will be at its knees if Raimon wins. Winning will make it worth the trouble all those other soccer teams have gotten into for being on Raimon's side. If Raimon can win the Holy Road tournament it means that Soccer wins! But it's not just that. Tenma has a lot riding on this game for himself too. If Raimon manages to win that final game, Ishido Shuuji promised that he would explain himself to Tenma. He would explain why Fifth Sector does what it does. Maybe Tenma could understand how someone that loves soccer could try so hard to ruin it.

There's plenty on the line, and it's keeping Tenma up when he really ought to already be fast asleep. As important as it is for Tenma to be well rested, it just isn't happening. He sits up in bed. His dog, Sasuke, is laying just at the side of the bed. Hung up against a chair across the room is his soccer uniform. And on the desk is the soccer ball that got Tenma dreaming about soccer from the beginning. Both the ball and the uniform have the Raimon lightning bolt mark on them. It's the same ball that saved him when he was little, and it was kicked by Ishido Shuuji himself.

Tenma reaches over and scratches Sasuke behind the ears. "Sasuke, how can someone that loves soccer so much do something so bad? I don't get it." The dog whines and licks at Tenma's face. Even though it's not any real answer to Tenma's problem, it somehow manages to cheer Tenma up just the same. A little smile spreads across the boy's face.

Everything is going to work out. He and his teammates will overcome this obstacle. Together they have already managed to overcome so much. The wind that's blowing them towards Fifth Sector is pushing them ahead. It's Tenma's wind that has caught up the rest of the team, and he knows he has no excuse to be afraid when he has all of his friends fighting with him.

Tenma can't help but laugh as the dog laps at his face again. "Haha- you're right, Sasuke. This is no time to be down." With another pat on the dog's head and a final glance at the soccer ball across the room, Tenma lays back down to get some sleep.
