character. CHARACTER NAME: Jiang (Boyue) Wei SERIES: Dynasty Warriors (based heavily on his appearance in Dynasty Warriors 7) CANON POINT: after Xiahou Ba defects to Shu, before the first assault in Shu during the Jin storyline. APPEARANCE: boop DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept rogue ( Lord Partizan/Shadow Warlock). In his own canon Jiang Wei uses a spear as his main weapon and favours power based weapons but at the same time he serves as his kingdom's strategist following his teacher's death a more "intellectual" role that I equate with a caster role. In addition to that in Warriors Orochi 1 & 2 Jiang Wei's special attack involve sorcery and he makes use of lightning elemental musou attacks in Dynasty Warriors 7.
PERSONALITY: Jiang Wei has been called a prodigy, talented, pure, earnest, serious, dedicated and less flatteringly, obsessed. They are probably all accurate descriptions. He has a sharp mind and perfectionist tendencies that both support and hinder him. He is someone that dedicates all of his effort and energy to any task that he is set to. Because he devotes himself so entirely to the cause though he becomes too emotionally involved, something his mentor cautioned him of. Though talented he becomes inflexible because he is so wrapped up in the ideals of those that have passed on and eventually exhausts himself and his resources.
In spite of his intelligence Jiang Wei in a field of schemers seems honest and straightforward. He gives the impression of someone who dislikes deceit even though he understands the necessity of it under certain circumstances. That’s the side of him that does better as a warrior than a strategist, it suits him put his spirit into his weapon and to push against adversity in an honourable fight. As a leader though he puts the lives of his men above his own pride, if he has to be a bit underhanded to save a comrade he will.
He’s the kind of person that follows rules and hierarchy (for better or for worse), even in cases where he possesses greater insight than his superior he will defer to their decision. He will also never complain about having to clean up the mistakes of his superiors. He’s naturally polite and respectful, it takes a lot for him to lose his temper (though not necessarily his cool) and there are very few people he would speak poorly of… at least until he’s been exhausted by his own failures. He takes everything to heart and given what he’s been through he might be on the brink of breaking.
In the end it’s not a lack of talent or ability that causes Jiang Wei’s downfall but rather his too devoted heart.
samples. FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: What kind of enchantment is this?
[ there is an extremely bewildered young man by the Chaos Gate. He’s not quite gaping but he’s just short of it. Once he realises that though he composes himself, lips thinning and hands balling into fists at his side. ]
I can’t be delayed here, whether it is a dream or a trap. I have duties awaiting me.
[ the question is how to get out of this… this place. He looks at the portal again and after a looooong moment---
He reaches out and pokes at the flickering blue gate. He lets out a short huff of frustration, shaking his head at himself. ] This is not the time for curiosity.
