(applications are closed.) opening october 8th at 00:01 GMT-8. SO, you've read the F.A.Q., the rules, checked that the character you're interested in is free and not reserved, and now you're ready to apply? Great! We're ready to accept you! The application description is below, and the form is ready for your copypasta convenience just underneath it! Please submit all applications in comments to this post with the subject "chara name | series". Have a seat, and drink some tea. We'll get right to you! At this time, we do NOT allow application challenges. Sorry about that! It's all first-come, first-serve. You can apply for TWO (2) characters per round, with a maximum of SIX (6) characters allowed altogether. RESERVES are not necessary. We run on a first-come, first-served system, but if you reserve your place is guaranteed for apps. REQUESTS will always be as clear as possible on what we believe was lacking and expect to see written into the application, but feel free to ask for clarification and we'll reply as soon as possible. You have seventy-two (72) hours to revise, or your application will be revoked. Although you're more than welcome to ask for an extension if for some reason you're unable to complete in time, within reason. REJECTIONS will also have clearly-stated reasons, and you'll be more than welcome to re-apply next month. However, we ask that if you're rejected three times in a row, you please try your hand at another character. WHEN ACCEPTED, please read and follow the directions in the welcome copypasta closely! We don't ask for a terrible amount, but we do note that some things are mandatory for the game and it helps greatly with organization! DID YOU PLAY IN HOLYRELIC BEFORE? We have a special rule for that! If you're repicking a character you had in HR before we closed previously, we're upholding our promise that your character can come back with their memories, THREE (3) event items of your choosing, and half of their levels. (I.E: Gauche was level 42 thereabouts, he'll be 21 to start.) Just comment to the apps with an updated player/character section to reclaim! No need for samples. :) Applications can be screened for privacy after they've been judged, so please add a note if you'd like it screened. player. NAME: Your name or handle. Setting doesn't matter! We just ask that you please not write a sample about your character first arriving, because it greatly limits their usual personality and reactions. Gentaro Kisaragi is commonly mistaken for a delinquent due to his pompadour hairstyle and way of dress, leading people to think he is a bad kid. This couldn’t be farther from the truth with him- In reality, he is possibly the friendliest person you could meet, along with overly confident, loud, and energetic. Gentaro is one of those kinds of guys who will do anything for his friends, and even goes so far as to put them before himself in any kind of situation. Friendship is the most important thing to Gentaro- even first and foremost upon his introduction in the series, he makes his goal known, that he will befriend everyone in the school. His friendships are placed above all else, and he cares for them all greatly. Although with some people, like JK who betrayed him and stole from him, Gentaro said that he accepts people's faults and that's why they are his friends! Still though, when Ryusei attempts to first join the Kamen Rider Club, Gentaro turns him down saying that his smiles are fake and that his real self doesn’t shine through. It takes Ryusei punching him in the face later on out of anger to let him join, as he had punched him with all of his heart and revealed his true self underneath. The fact that only Gentaro could tell the smiles weren’t real shows that he is at least good at telling someone’s true colors to an extent- he’s still not aware that Ryusei is Meteor, although.
One thing he does very frequently is give motivational speeches. "Pain is nourishment for the heart"! Gentaro is actually pretty emotional about certain things, and his motivational speeches show this frequently. Besides them, he also will cry when someone he considers his friend tells him a sad story about themselves, as he feels for them so strongly.
Gentaro’s very capable of adapting to new switches powers when he first uses them, usually having only small difficulties with them- especially when he first starts out as Fourze. His strengths don’t just lie in the switches he uses in battle, he motivates himself to keep moving onward. For example, when fighting the witch, because his heart was so set on helping Nozama. This plus his title as a Kamen Rider- a hero who fights evil as you could guess, push him further past his limits when he needs to.
Although his school work is lacking, Gentaro pulls through when he needs to and is a hard worker in other areas. He trained himself on the moon to make sure he could perfect his use of the switches, such as Hopping, and goes out of his way to help others even when it’s bad for him. As he put it himself, if he doesn't keep his word his heart dies, so it won't matter if he does. Gentaro even goes as far as to try and save Miura from using the zodiart switch even though he was poisoned and could barely move. His reckless behavior doesn’t stop him from calling Kengo reckless for risking his life to save him in return, though. Working harder for his friends than for himself is just natural for him to do, but even in the case of Kengo being trapped on the moon he still went after the Zodiart to stop them before looking for a way to save his friend, because that is what Kengo would have wanted. He also told Yuki to go on and sing for the Kindergarteners while he took care of the Zodiart at the time, because even though that had been the current situation, fun times were still a necessity.
Other little facts about him:
-Gentaro is bad at art and doesn’t “get” art, either.
-He’s good at balancing things (on his head and two straws at once).
-It’s implied that he doesn’t know katakana well at all ("I bet you think you look smart since you use katakana!" said to Kengo once; Also mistakes words for other ones frequently (“Trashiest of Trash” as “Manliest of Men” – “Hebu/Left out” as “Hebi/Snake”)
-He can drive a motorbike.
-Gentaro isn’t good at math.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
Gentaro had been in The World for quite some time now, and during his time here he had noticed signs advertising for guilds. Not being sure what that was exactly, the boy had spent plenty of his time questioning the NPCs and other players…much to their annoyance at his brash exclamations at all of their explanations, while some full-out avoided the poor boy due to his delinquent-like appearance. The answers he did receive thrilled him, though!.It was basically like a club, just like the Kamen Rider Club back home!
Of course, this caused him to start making (very crudely drawn) signs for the Kamen Rider Guild and hanging them all over town. Too bad the guy didn’t know how to go about making a guild, so the signs were advertising something that didn’t even exist…Gentaro had just finished putting up possibly his fiftieth sign at this rate before stopping to take a breather.
“Ahh, a good day of hard work like this is great for the spirit!” He rubbed his forearm across his forehead, sighing in relief, “This is bound to attract some members!! I can’t wait, the Kamen Rider Club will flourish here as well as back at Amanogawa High School for sure!!”

WELCOME to Holy Relic! There are a few things we'd like to ask of you before jumping in, so please read below and head on over to our welcome post with some ideas for journal setup and a slightly more detailed rehash of the steps below.
(one.) Create your character journal if you haven't already done so, and join the following game communities:
(two.) Comment to our taken series list if your canon hasn't already been posted (or you're an original character, in which case they go in the 'original characters' series post!).
(three.) We have an AIM chat at holyrelic that everyone is more than welcome to join, but if you don't want invites, just let a mod know! There's also a mod plurk for events, app/reserve opening and closing, and asking for occasional quick opinions.
Lastly, we have a comprehensive permissions post with comments by anyone that needs replying to-- this would be for characters with abilities that affect others, such as ability-copying, cannibalism, random violence and so on. If your character has an ability where you'll need permission from others, please make a post in their journal and link to it on the comprehensive permissions post. Then please comment around to any listed posts and help your fellow players out!
