(applications are closed.)
opening october 8th at 00:01 GMT-8.
closing october 14th at 23:59 GMT-8.

SO, you've read the F.A.Q., the rules, checked that the character you're interested in is free and not reserved, and now you're ready to apply? Great! We're ready to accept you! The application description is below, and the form is ready for your copypasta convenience just underneath it! Please submit all applications in comments to this post with the subject "chara name | series". Have a seat, and drink some tea. We'll get right to you!

At this time, we do NOT allow application challenges. Sorry about that! It's all first-come, first-serve. You can apply for TWO (2) characters per round, with a maximum of SIX (6) characters allowed altogether.

RESERVES are not necessary. We run on a first-come, first-served system, but if you reserve your place is guaranteed for apps.

REQUESTS will always be as clear as possible on what we believe was lacking and expect to see written into the application, but feel free to ask for clarification and we'll reply as soon as possible. You have seventy-two (72) hours to revise, or your application will be revoked. Although you're more than welcome to ask for an extension if for some reason you're unable to complete in time, within reason.

REJECTIONS will also have clearly-stated reasons, and you'll be more than welcome to re-apply next month. However, we ask that if you're rejected three times in a row, you please try your hand at another character.

WHEN ACCEPTED, please read and follow the directions in the welcome copypasta closely! We don't ask for a terrible amount, but we do note that some things are mandatory for the game and it helps greatly with organization!

DID YOU PLAY IN HOLYRELIC BEFORE? We have a special rule for that! If you're repicking a character you had in HR before we closed previously, we're upholding our promise that your character can come back with their memories, THREE (3) event items of your choosing, and half of their levels. (I.E: Gauche was level 42 thereabouts, he'll be 21 to start.) Just comment to the apps with an updated player/character section to reclaim! No need for samples. :)

Applications can be screened for privacy after they've been judged, so please add a note if you'd like it screened.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Your character's name.
SERIES: The series your character is from; anime, manga, book, television, video game, you name it! Just give us a link.
CANON POINT: The point in time that your character is being applied from.
APPEARANCE: A link to an image, and/or an optional description if there's anything not covered in the image.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: The class you'd like your character to be! We ask that you follow any canon inclination towards fighting types and state what they were previously, but if your character is someone that has never held a sword before, never took karate, and comes from a regular world with no magic, please provide a brief reasoning as to why you've picked what class you did!
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: ONLY FOR PLAYERS FROM HR'S LAST INCARNATION! Please note what their halved level will be and the three event items you'd like to keep. :) (if this doesn't apply to you-- 98% of you-- just remove this line. ♥)

PERSONALITY: Your character's personality; this needs to be written by you, though! We'd like at least two solid paragraphs, although three would be great!

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: A first-person sample-- or a journal/action post-- in the game's context. Anything you might use as a post in the game would be just fine here, but you don't need to use what you put in your application as your first post! Please do keep in mind that while journal posts are more natural to write for samples, we have no network in The World-- everything is face to face. All entries to the main community will be action posts! :)

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: A third-person sample-- or log style-- that accurately displays your character's personality and motivations. Setting doesn't matter! We just ask that you please not write a sample about your character first arriving, because it greatly limits their usual personality and reactions. We aren't too particular about length but please write at least two or three paragraphs so we have something to work with! Also, if you've previously been accepted with another character and you're currently in the game, you do NOT need to write a third-person sample!

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Saralegui
SERIES: Kyo Kara Maoh!
CANON POINT: After the end of Season 3
APPEARANCE: Bam. He's fairly average for his age, as far as height goes, somewhere around 5'6" or 5'7" if I'm judging correctly (and judging against Yuuri's known measurements is all I can go on, since no such information has been released for Sara). His build is very slender, bordering on skinny (possibly unhealthily so, as Yuuri's stated to be around 90 lbs. and he's pretty athletic and would definitely have more weight in muscle than Sara, but this is more likely to just be a "bizarre anime anatomy" thing). Yuuri mentions how attractive he is on multiple occasions (quite a bit, coming from a supposedly heterosexual teenage boy), with pale skin, silkily long light blond hair, and gold eyes that glow blue when he's using his mind-control powers. He wears the same pair of purple-tinted glasses almost all the time, half out of habit and half to help conceal the color of his eyes, as his coloring is extremely rare among humans in his world -- reasonable, as it turns out to be characteristic of the Shinzoku race, which he turns out to be part of. On his mother's side, at least.
Saralegui's clothing tends to be fairly neutral and simple despite his rank, saving the brighter colors and more ornate embroidery and such for formal occasions. His hairstyle gets played with depending on the situation as well, tending towards updos for formality and leaving it all down for more casual days. In coming to The World, he'll be in his usual downtime clothes as pictured, high boots with a bit of a heel, pants and a long-sleeved shirt under his overshirt and skirt thing all in the same creamy white fabric, and his fur-collared cloak. It's reasonable to assume his country is on the colder side, given all the layers in this and his other outfits, as well as it's assumed proximity to Large Shimaron, which is consistently shown as a snowy country.
He won't be bringing anything with him, not exactly being in the habit of carrying anything in a bag with him. That is what boats and carriages and servants are for.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Macabre Dancer; In canon, he doesn't do much physical fighting beyond swinging a holy sword around in a fit of rage, but his brand of magic isn't anything that would really suit the Harvest Cleric or Shadow Warlock classes. His bit with the sword of Seisakoku seems to be all about life energy and healing and creation and all that, but since all that still happens to a lesser extent when Shori used it, all that seems to be something innate to the sword. Saralegui's natural abilities, and the way he uses them, are hardly very Harvest Cleric-like, and he's never so direct as to just be using any sort of offensive magic like a Shadow Warlock. He manipulates people, either through mind control or just good old-fashioned plotting, he charms and befriends Yuuri just to use him, and he lies and tricks people to accomplish his goals. It seems like the Macabre Dancer class is fairly appropriate, with its buffing and debuffing magic and inflicting status ailments, as well as the graceful nature of the fan attacks.

PERSONALITY: By all outward appearances, Saralegui is just the young and charismatic king of the country of Small Shimaron. He's intelligent and fair in his rule despite his age, and well-liked by his people. He's kind and charming and strives for peace, the sort of king that really cares about his people, rather than just enjoying the luxury that such power brings.

In reality, however, Saralegui is manipulative and scheming. He plays nice with others to keep up a good reputation, because it's that sort of thing that helps him most in the cutthroat politics of his world. Saralegui doesn't shy away from using others to accomplish his goals, and he's both intelligent enough and powerful enough to get away with it. "Powerful" in this case referring less to his rank and more to the hypnotic magic he can work with his eyes. He doesn't even need that much of the time, however, more interested in the challenge of going without, or doing things the more complicated way because it's more "fun". It isn't a lie that he cares for his country, but even that has a selfish root, a need to be a greater king than his father was, to be acknowledged and loved and respected and feared by everyone because his father would barely even look at him.

Despite everything he's done, Saralegui isn't exactly a villain. He does bad things, sometimes cruel things, but his intentions are often good. He has a very "ends justify the means" attitude, which is why he could so easily trick his only friend, the pacifistic Yuuri, into destroying entire armies for him on two separate occasions -- it might hurt Yuuri, yes, but it gets rid of the threat of Large Shimaron's forces without having to send a single soldier into battle, and if it manages to kill off Large Shimaron's king in the process, then that just means he can claim the throne himself and definitely end all the fighting between humans and demons. He has some intense trust issues as well, so he lies and manipulates rather than put his faith into others. He's gotten better about that with the events of the end of the series -- the revelation that his mother might just care about him after all, that Belias is his family and loyal to him no matter what, that Yuuri will trust him and believe in him no matter what he does -- but it's a slow process. He really is trying to be a better person these days, more genuine at least, but old habits die hard, and Saralegui is far too prideful to so easily admit that he's been wrong about these things all along. Out loud, at least.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: [waking up in a unfamiliar place and in strange clothes, with no idea how either came to be, was generally a Very Bad Thing for anyone, but as a king, saralegui couldn't be blamed for being overly cautious about everything.

still, it hardly seemed like a kidnapping or assassination attempt -- at the very least, it couldn't be a very good one, because there was virtually nothing keeping him in place. people kept passing through, but none seemed too interested in him, let alone like they were supposed to be on guard, and when he finally made his way toward the only door in the room, no moves were made to stop him.

outside, nothing looked any more familiar, but he decided against focusing on that too much at the moment. he could learn more from the people in less time than analyzing his surroundings would reveal anything.

...at least, that was the idea at first, but the first person -- thing? -- he attempted to speak with, standing behind the counter of a stall in what looked like this town's center square, just repeated the same thing again and again until he gave up. now wasn't the time to be worrying about insane, strange-looking creatures. but then the same thing occurred with all the shopkeepers he tried to speak to, and when he turned his attention to those walking by instead, the results were only more confusing, full of unfamiliar words and strange phrases, and all he managed to pick up from it all was the city name, one he'd certainly never seen in any atlas.

for the moment, he'd settled for sitting down at the side of the main bridge connecting the city to the building he'd found himself in earlier. he fussed with the hem of the weird outfit he was still wearing for lack of anything to change into, fiddled with the device he'd found in his pack for a few moments before setting it aside again for the time being, and eventually just sat people-watching while he tried to make sense of it all. he couldn't decide if it was better than being locked up somewhere by someone who wished his country ill, but it was frustrating, to say the least.

but then that was getting rather dull, and he wasn't sure how long he'd been here but it must have been a few hours at least, so he glanced up again, attempting to wave down the next person walking by.]

Excuse me...?

[polite as always, but his enthusiasm somewhat dulled by his earlier failures with the NPCs. take pity on the guy?]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: Sample from the application to the now dead gottlieb-rpg:

Despite his title, Saralegui was not really one to adorn himself with jewels or overly ornate clothing. Such things were meant to make ugly women more attractive by dressing them up in distractingly pretty finery, and he knew that he was by no means "ugly". As such, the blonde preferred his more understated outfits - neutrally colored tunics and robes, high boots, more colorful or embroidered shirts for formal gatherings - the things that showed off his natural beauty without competing against it to be looked at.

Even still, Sara was not at all enjoying the strange piece of clothing he'd woken up in. A horribly dull grey color, and not very flattering at all...hardly a fitting piece for a king to be wearing.

He rolled his golden eyes before looking over the letter in his hands once more. He wasn't stupid. Far from it, really. As much as he would like to believe that this was a very elaborate joke (though really, who would dare to pull a prank on him? No one who worked in the castle, of that much he was certain), just by taking in the scene around him he could tell that such a situation was unlikely. For someone to have gotten him out of his own clothes, into these new ones, and onto a cot in wherever-this-was, they would have needed to at the very least drug him. There was no way he would have simply slept through such treatment. And as he last remembered falling asleep in his bed back at his own castle, that would meant that his kidnappers would have had to get through all of the palace's security, and then Belias on top of that. Too improbable.

So for the time being, he had to accept that he'd been somehow transported to what appeared to be an underground prison in order to serve out a life sentence, as strange as that sounded. Denial would only be a waste of time, time he could be spending looking for a way out. No doubt Belias was already searching for him like mad, but Sara was never one to just sit idly back and wait to be rescued. At the very least, he could try to find a way to get a message to his bodyguard.

As he stood up to explore his cell, first trying the door, the king decided that escape might not be that hard after all. Really, who left a prisoner's cell unlocked? With a slight smile, he pushed open the door to continue his exploration. With the way his luck was going, he could simply find the main entrance and stroll out without a problem. Yes, everything would be fine.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Gauche Suede
SERIES: Tegami Bachi
CANON POINT: Chapter 1, after leaving Cambel Litus and before he disappears.
APPEARANCE: S'up Gauche. For a basic rundown, he stands around 5'10" or so, with a lean, fit figure due to his constant exercise and traveling. He's pretty handsome, with longish silver hair and violet eyes. He has a fresh cut on his right cheekbone from a stray heart bullet that Lag shot with Gauche's gun, which turns into a scar later on in the series. His hands are described to be rough with callouses and cold. He wears the typical Letter Bee uniform with no modifications, made of faded navy leather for durability and warmth for the job, with silver accent-lining and buttons. His belt and the strap of his messenger bag are brown leather, as well as the holster belt for his heart bullet gun, the Nocturne Op.12. He carries a wallet on a chain in his back pocket with money and a picture of his sister, and his messenger bag serves to carry both the letters and any traveling luggage he has-- food, water, blankets, cooking utensils, and so on. ...And inconveniently, of course, that's all locked in his inventory.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Steam Gunner; Gauche canonly carries around a heart bullet gun-- the Nocturn Op.12, which is similar to a mule's leg rifle-- and fires blanks that he fills with fragments of his heart to defeat the monsters in his world. He has pretty good aim with it and rarely misses, although he's used to fighting with a Dingo, which are assisting partners that help distract the enemy so he has a clear shot.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: Gauche was a level 42 (halved on re-arrival to 21) steam gunner, bringing over his St. Patty's Day bayonet, St. Patty's Day leprechaun outfit & hat, and his 4OJ summer yukata.

APPEARANCE: S'up Sillybutt (except bottom left). He has a very scant IRL appearance, but as he appears as his in-game avatar, so shall it be!
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier-- it's what he is in canon!
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: Silabus was a level 34 (halved on re-arrival to 17) blade brandier, bringing over his St. Patty's Day sword, his 4OJ summer yukata (decorated in grasslands and a sunrise), and his titanic suit w/green&turquoise accents & cufflinks.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Mia
SERIES: Golden Sun
CANON POINT: Almost immediately after Isaac wins Colosso; their party has been tasked by Babi to find Lemuria.
APPEARANCE: The Angel of Mercury. Her build is about average for a 17-year-old, but a little on the slower side; her vibrant aqua blue hair and eyes are a sign of her Mercury Clan lineage. I have no explanation for the ahoge; it shows up on exactly zero of her sprites and just shouldn't be there. She is also usually not that confident. The World also decided to add ornamental wings to her heavy robes.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Harvest Cleric. Game-mechanics-wise, her base class is healing-oriented, although it lacks the Revive technique. She also acted as Imil's healer, thanks to the disappearance and/or death of any older Mercury Clan members. She can equip only maces and staves. (Equipment in Golden Sun is independent of class).

PERSONALITY: Mia is kind and empathic thanks to her life as a healer. However, there is a vaguely melancholy air about her; she is one of only four remaining members of an ancient bloodline. The other three are her cousin Alex, who betrayed their heritage by helping to activate the Mercury Lighthouse they were sworn to protect, and two young children named Justin and Megan, who serve as the healers of her hometown Imil now that Mia is traveling with Isaac, Garet, and Ivan.

She met the other three Vale Warriors (as they would later be known) as they were trying to recover the Elemental Stars, artifact catalysts necessary to activate the Lighthouses. After determining that their respective goals in the lighthouse were complementary, she came to trust them enough to join them after she failed to prevent Alex, Saturos, and/or Menardi from lighting the lighthouse, exhibiting her strong sense of duty.

People's perception of her tends to be as a revered figure; her healing powers have given her a fair amount of fame, and a reputation as an angel (and later, a goddess), a reputation that she will not reacquire in The World largely due to the fact that people with healing powers are common - both clerics and other classes that can use Repth.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

My bag is empty, except for a... thing. I don't know what it does, or if it does anything at all. I put it back. I have a feeling I'll be needing it, somehow.

I've never seen the room I'm in, and I just woke up. I've been taken somewhere.

But I'm not alone. Someone has come up to me. His smile and mostly-closed eyes tell me this man is not to be trusted.

"Welcome to The World", he says, before immediately turning around and walking away. I stare at him, as the sound of his footsteps recede into nothing, and he opens the door, filling the room with light.

What is this place, and why am I here?

Still stunned, I turn to face the center of the room. Another person appears, in a show of lights that reminds me of Isaac's 'Retreat' psynergy.

"Excuse me..."

[What will you do?]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

Mia found herself having difficulty sleeping.

Ever since what had happened at Mercury Lighthouse, she couldn't help thinking that she could have done more to protect it, and about why Alex had allowed - no, helped - those Mars Clan warriors to light it. Alchemy would bring about the end of the world, according to Isaac, and by extension the Wise One. Could that be wrong? ...no, it couldn't be.

Babi and his grab at immortality was one of the more recent issues that had been thrust upon her, and her Adept companions. Did any man have the right to live for as long as he already has? He can't have been lying about Lemuria, but could she and her friends really spare the time to find it?

Of course, reclaiming the Stars was first. They were going to set off for Lalivero with Iodem in the morning. With any luck, they'd be able to catch up to Alex, who held them. The road would be perilous. Her friends needed her. Isaac could heal, but not as effectively as she could.

And she was going to keep them alive.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Iceland
SERIES: Axis Powers Hetalia
CANON POINT: Modern day
APPEARANCE: boop - although his eye color is actually purple now whoops
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Harvest Cleric. In the Hetalia Fantasia drama CD, which takes place in an MMO-styled game, it was implied that Iceland had a support role similar to that of a cleric, so it's a class he's already somewhat familiar with. In real life terms, Iceland has never been one for the front lines of combat, as he's never had an army, nor any reason to be much of a fighter. So, a positive support role would fit him best!

PERSONALITY:
Given his name, one might expect Iceland to be a bit cold in terms of personality. Upon first impression, that may be correct, but underneath Iceland's frosty exterior is a hot-blooded individual. Perhaps this goes along with the fact that he's a chilly island hanging out near the arctic circle, but happens to be made out of volcanoes. Either way, yes, he's typically apathetic towards people he isn't intimately familiar with. This is a facade of sorts, because really, Iceland is shy and quiet, and it's easier to seem cool and not embarrass himself if he keeps everyone at an emotional distance. He is not anti-social, however, and while it isn't in his nature to talk much, that doesn't mean that he dislikes people as a whole, or socializing. He just doesn't know how to do it properly beyond simple, topical conversations. He grew up with practically no friends, and given his introverted nature, he's not exactly equipped to take on deep and meaningful conversations upon first meeting with someone. So, the side of Iceland that most people see is one of supposed stoicism and lineface, although he's much more sensitive and insecure than he lets on. After centuries of practice, he's gotten good at hiding that. For the most part.

His hot-blooded nature comes out in one of two ways: Getting flustered or throwing a temper tantrum. Once someone gets past his cool facade and under his skin, it's quite obvious that Iceland isn't as emotionless as he acts. Expressions don't come easy to him, with the exception of embarrassment and anger. The latter is a little more random, sort of like a volcano; it can erupt at any time, without warning. Not without provocation, although the strangest things can set Iceland off and cause him to get upset. He reacts strongly to shocking and/or unpleasant situations, and sometimes ends up a bit moody when the situation doesn't play out in his favor. He does his best to contain those kinds of reactions so he doesn't lose face and become unliked, but he has no qualms about outwardly showing his annoyance. It's when his buttons get continually pressed that he tends to lose his grip and lets those negative emotions out. He gets flustered and fussy at times when his insecurities are brought up. As a teenager, he does have concerns over things that might be directly irrelevant in pretty much any situation - such as his body image and lack of muscles - but that doesn't make him any less touchy about the subject. When forced to strip down for the sake of the world's safety during the Christmas 2010 event, Iceland initially refused and was later traumatized by the event. He was that against showing off his skinny self, and made it clear that he was very upset that he had to. He was also a bit self-depreciating in the process, again, because he's that insecure about his appearance.

Of course, while the duality of his ice/fire temperament suits him well, there's more to Iceland than geography puns. Really. Despite being well over one thousand years old, he physically appears to be teenager, and acts as such on most occasions. He tries hard to appear mature in front of his peers, but since he isn't as grown up as he thinks he is, he easily slips back into childish behavior. Most notably the aforementioned temper tantrums. Funnily enough, the harder he tries to convince others that he's a mature adult, the more childish he tends to act. He is a little naive about the workings of the world, due to growing up in a rather isolated environment. He's fascinated by trends and technology, and does his best to keep up. He wants to be popular and liked, and keeping in stride with society's advances is a way for him to relate to others. Look at how cool and caught up he is! After his spectacular economic collapse and the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland made a point of monologuing (he seems to have a habit of talking to himself when he's feeling lonely) about how he needs to become popular once again. He doesn't need to be in the spotlight and the center of attention - in fact, that much attention would make him uncomfortable - but he wants others to generally have a good impression of him, even though he'll say otherwise.

He's very proud of his independence and the progress he's made from being the poor, backwater country he was for the majority of his life. Rather, a poor, backwater territory. He was very dependent on his brothers, Norway and Denmark, for centuries, and this is sort of ingrained in him whether he likes it or not. He tries to distance himself from them, but they're family; they're close. Iceland will never admit it, but he does have a soft spot for the both of them. In Hetalia Fantasia 2, he got lost after being separated from the two of them, and he couldn't help but sound upset when they eventually were reunited and he stated, "I thought you guys ditched me." This also goes hand in hand with the fact that Iceland doesn't like to be alone unless he chooses to be, but really plays into Iceland's subconscious belief that his brothers will always be there to depend on if he needs them. It's a habit to rely on them, he can't help it, but he consciously fights that because he wants to stand on his own two feet and do his own thing, and be more than their little brother (although they still see him as such; most notably Norway, as he's Iceland's biological older brother). While normally unwilling to yield to the requests of others if he doesn't want to, Iceland will do what Norway and Denmark tell him to do as long as they're persistent enough about it. Iceland is wary of strangers and people he doesn't know too well, so they typically need to present good reasoning to convince Iceland to do something. Norway and Denmark don't. They could have the flimsiest excuse for wanting Iceland to do something for them and because they're his brothers and he's quite fond of them, he'll eventually cave. Only for them. Although this could possibly carry over for friends he bonds with, given the opportunity for that to happen.

It doesn't take much to get Iceland to like someone. Underneath the layers of geography puns and moody teenage behavior, Iceland is really a nice guy. He doesn't like seeing people upset or unhappy. In the Hetalia Fantasia 2 drama CD, Italy gets a little down when Iceland bluntly rejects his offer for of food. When Iceland sees this, he changes his mind and states, “because you're offering it to me, I'll accept it,” despite saying he wasn't hungry mere moments before. He's straightforward and honest, but he never says or does anything with the intention of harming others in any way or spreading ill will. He's just a little awkward, but ultimately wants to be accepted by others.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[ 'Lucky Animal' wasn't something Iceland would consider Sleipnir, Odin's trusted horse, but he swears he overheard some players talking about it. He didn't quite understand it, but it was something from home, even if it was in name only. It's something familiar. So, Iceland has been going around, trying to get information. A lot of people seem to think he's pandering for a party to join, but that's not his goal. Any invites he gets to tag along, he declines. He can totally find this thing on his own, alright, but he needs direction first. ]

Um... h-hey, you, I need to know where to find Sleipnir-- [ He doesn't get much helpful information, but Iceland isn't just going to give up on finding anything that could be considered a momento of sorts. So he moves on, although he starts to get a bit more choosy about who he asks. ]

Do you know where I-- I- could find Sleipnir?

[ It's disheartening, and he's getting tired, but... surely he'll get this worked out. Right? He'll keep asking around, even if getting picky isn't the right way to go about it. ]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
(taken from an app I wrote for a game I was previously in)

Iceland looked at himself in the mirror, halfway dressed for the meeting he had to attend in thirty minutes. His reflection was rather distracting, and not in a 'I look sexy and I want to stare at myself' kind of way. He poked at his stomach, which was soft and squishy with baby fat. His cheeks were slightly plump in the same way, although they had started to thin out in the last couple of years. Finally. He watched his reflection poke at those, too.

It's unfair. He's a willowy teenager while countries half his (actual) age are built more like standard human adults. Granted, some days Iceland barely bothers to brush his hair, but he's just as mature and responsible as everyone else. He tries, he really does, and he doesn't think it's fair that he isn't taken seriously half the time because he looks like a kid. The thought makes him sigh.
His hand is back on his stomach again, but it travels a little higher this time, up past his navel and he pokes again. It's thinner there and the jab hurts, causing Iceland murmur a quiet "Ow," under his breath and gingerly rub the spot. He sighs again and stalks away from the mirror to finish getting dressed, only to return once he's sure that he's nearly ready to go. He spends a few minutes posturing, trying to make himself seem bigger somehow. Instead of getting disappointed in himself, he gets bored with his - admittedly rather pathetic - display, and huffs and leaves the mirror again, claiming, "This is stupid," in a rather haughty manner.

It's only a matter of minutes before Iceland is out the door of his hotel room, heading to a meeting he would rather sleep through. Really, it's not like he expects anyone to pay attention to him anyway.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Kirino Ranmaru
SERIES: Inazuma Eleven GO
CANON POINT: Just prior to the Arakumo Gakuen match
APPEARANCE: Why yes, this IS a male. As for size and weight, he's probably around the average for a ~13-14 year-old, if not maybe somewhat more slim.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept Rogue: Primary class is Macabre Dancer and secondary is Flick Reaper. Macabre Dancer was selected for the embarrassing costume because of an implied degree of elegance that comes with the class and Kirino is very girly. Flick Reaper was selected because as a defender, he is supposed to keep the ball away from the goal, similarly to how a Flick Reaper keeps melee attackers away from the party.

PERSONALITY: Kirino is one pretty chill kid. Things don't get under his skin easily, but if they somehow do, he usually tries to not let it show. There is one exception in the form of Kariya Masaki and his antics, but by the canon point I'm taking Kirino from, he's built up something of a tolerance to that. When something does force him to lose his cool, however, it's always obvious that he's irritated. He tries to at least seem calm, however this is often betrayed by his generally being irritable and snappish. As a rule though, he's serious, calm, and rational, preferring to think his actions through.

Unfortunately, Kirino's somewhat indecisive and has a tendency to overthink things (such as whether or not to join Tenma, Shinsuke and Shindou in their rebellion against Fifth Sector). However, he did initially give consideration to going against Fifth Sector when many of the other members either completely opposed it or just didn't care. Kirino is also very loyal, caring, and patient. He was one of the only few Raimon members who at least tried to be kind to Tenma when he first joined and he often shows concern over Shindou, his best friend. Another one of Kirino's problems is with bottling things up. He refuses to break his calm facade over most things and tends to not let others know what's on his mind or his true feelings about the situation. He makes a point to be rational and objective. Again, Kariya is usually the exception.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: [Well, this was inconvenient.

Kirino had awoken to a strange world, strange clothes that weren't his, his ACTUAL clothing gone, and a device on him that looked like a cell phone, but... wasn't? Not to mention, many of the people he talked to would merely give generic responses... or even the same reply twice if he talked to them multiple times. It vaguely seemed like something one would experience in a video game. That was ridiculous, though. Others merely gave him looks and walked on. Wow. Rude.

The boy sighs and slumps. It was strange, but he had to make do for the time being. Or maybe try to find people who would be nice enough to fill him in on his situation.]

This is kind of frustrating. Should I keep wandering? Someone should be able to give me information... [He stands in place, mumbling to himself. Maybe he could use some help?]

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: Kirino enjoyed having time to think. There were a few places he'd go in order to just sit and collect his thoughts. They were rather private, though Shindou did know most of them. Shindou was the only one who knew of them, and Kirino made sure of that. If anyone aside from Shindou had come across one of these places he visited to just sit and think, he'd move to another spot. Kirino hated being interrupted while he was trying to sort out his thoughts. Most people interrupted, in his opinion.

The riverbank was one of the riskier places for Kirino to visit, due to the higher likelihood of people practicing there; thankfully, there seemed to be no one else present at the moment. The match with Arakumo Gakuen was soon. Kirino frowned as he sank down onto the grass. The videos indicated just how powerful of an opponent the team was.

It's only natural to be nervous. At least that's what Kirino was trying to convince himself, but nervousness was the least of his problems. Kirino had a really, really bad feeling. Something awful was going to happen; he was sure of it. Of course, he wasn't sure what it was, he wouldn't really know that until it happened. The defender's frown deepened and he pushed the thought to the back of his mind. Don't focus on the negative; imagine the team winning. Kirino made an effort to direct his thoughts in a more positive direction. It was easier said than done, but he had to put his mind at ease somehow.

CHARACTER NAME: Yuuta Takizawa
SERIES: series
CANON POINT: ch 81
APPEARANCE: Link. Pretty much a normal ten year old, brown hair and brown eyes. Nothing out of the ordinary in regards to appearance.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Shadow Warlock (His main weapon in canon is his isolation technique, ie; he creates barriers around an object/area and makes them seem to disappear. By this reasoning, he would be a lot more comfortable in a class that uses a long range offence and require more strategy than just waving a sword around.)
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: Previously level 9 SO 4 or 5 now. And since I didn’t keep track of my items, no items for the shotabutt ): ALSO he got canon updated from the last time he was in HR although the only thing that's change is pretty much he and his friends managed to save the world.

PERSONALITY:
Yuuta is a naturally quiet and thoughtful boy and this leads him to being very observant, both in regards to other people as well as to situations he finds himself in. Of course that doesn't mean he's meek in any way. He can be quite blunt and will often speak his mind, making sure his opinions is heard even if it's contrary what others may think such as the many times he expresses that a certain plan is ridiculous. He doesn't mind being honest. Although, he usually reserves acting this way for people he is truly comfortable around.

He is incredibly mature for his age. Then again, considering what he's been through, it's not that strange. He knows his own limitations very well and takes care to stay within them, or mention it when others expect him to do more (there is an exception though, which was when he tried to Isolate a nuclear missile sent to destroy Tokyo but that was a last resort effort because if he didn't try, they would all die anyway). He takes his responsibilities seriously and even when it's not necessarily his responsibility, he puts all his effort into fulfilling it. He constantly offers himself to be his friends' protector even when his own life is at risk. This is in part because of the nature of his ability (being able to Isolate people and objects, so in a way he is taking them out of harm's way easily and efficiently) and because of the fact that he's already lost one very important person (his mother) in his life so he doesn't want to see any more leave him.

He can be very standoff-ish though, especially towards people he is especially fond of but only because he’s embarrassed about his affection for them. Towards these people, Yuuta can act like an outright brat. He insults them, argues with them or just makes things difficult in general but deep down he really does care and will do whatever that is needed of him to make them happy.

CHARACTER NAME: Sonic the Hedgehog
SERIES: 20 YEARS AND COUNTING
CANON POINT: After Black Knight, before he embarks on Colours (and Generation aaaaah)
APPEARANCE: Fight me... okay, fien
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Twin Blade - Sonic's main trait is speed. SPEED BOOST SPIN DASH and that's something that has driven the series for 20 years now. The blades are a nice substitute for his quills too, otherwise, he'd have probably been fine as a Tribal Grappler.

PERSONALITY: "I'm Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog and I have no master except the wind that blows free!"

One can easily make a metaphor using 'Sonic' and 'the wind'; they're practically the same thing at times. Hardly one to stay in one spot longer than he has to, he's constantly on the move and always in search of his next adventure. Anything Sonic does is done on a whim and very rarely does he follow orders from anyone; he has no master except his own heart. He's also a hero through and through, not caring if his actions will ruin someone's image of him so long as he believes it's the right thing to do.

"Guess I can't be the hero all the time!"

Carefree and charismatic, he tends to make friends and comrades easily. It's practically part of his job description, though his own attitude stops him from leaving those poor introverts alone. He falls into the Hero trope very easily, but don't confuse him for some of the other shounen heroes or video game heroes; Sonic's been at this for 20 years and has a million continuities, ONE DOES NOT MESS WITH SOMEONE WHO COULD POTENTIALLY SHOOT LASERS OUT OF HIS EYES!

Moving along...

Like all heroes, Sonic has courage and confidence to spare, often times setting aside his own goals to help someone (or some worlds) in need. All you have to do is ask and he'll be there in a blink of an eye! His confidence gets the better of him sometimes where he'll underestimate a new enemy and land himself in quite a bit of trouble. But through the force of will capable of rivaling even the great Kamina, Sonic will pull through. It's through his will alone that Sonic managed to avoid the effects of Dark Gaia on him after his werehog transformation. Sonic doesn't save the world just because it's something to pass the time, he saves the world because he does genuinely care.

Helping people is kinda of a way of life for him.

There are few things in the world that the blue blur hates but those things that he does dislike, he tends to hate quite a bit. First and foremost is oppression. Considering how Sonic's entire theme seems to be based around something that's undeniably free, it's easy to see why he hates those who would take advantage of others. It's just not on. To a lesser degree, Sonic doesn't like seeing people blue (haha) and will often try to cheer them up or at least attempt to pull them out of that funk of theirs in - what he considers - the best way possible. He's pretty good at reading people when he has to. Unfortunately, reading people and reacting in what would be considered the conventional manner seem to be two mutually exclusive subjects so far as he's concerned. Sometimes there's just no way to cheer people up but to have them punch it out.

He isn't as dumb as some people make him out to be. In a pinch, Sonic is a very capable individual (though his over confidence and 'jump before you look' attitude tends to land him in situations he can't get out of easily) and can work out plans and other things quickly. But when you have someone like Tails as a friend, why would you ever bother thinking that hard?

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: [over video comes the sight of a blue haired boy gesturing animatedly as he talks] All right, all right. I know, I'm a pretty popular guy! But this? This is not the way to go about it! Kidnapping is no good, folks.

But where is this place anyway? No, we can answer that later. Or I'll just have to charge through it like always. More importantly...

WHY DO I LOOK LIKE THIS? [FRANTIC GESTURES TOWARDS SELF] I am a hedgehog! Not a rat, not a knave, just a hedgehog (and a pretty awesome one to boot) but this just takes the cake. I mean, really!? [dramatic sigh] Guess there's just no helping it.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: Waking up next to some strange glowing Gate after spending a better part of the last hour running away from Amy wasn't one of the strangest things Sonic has been through. Honestly, to Sonic there were as many extraordinary happenings as there were quills on his head - which, despite appearances, was a lot - and so he'd just learned to go with the flow. Time travel? Fine. Waking up in a story book world? Cool.

Waking up as a human was definitely a first for him. It took a few seconds for it to sink in, considering the gloves in front of him gave no indication of anything off until he tried to stand up. Suffice to say, suddenly growing a head taller than he was five seconds ago was disorienting!

"Whoa, did anyone see the hammer that hit me?" he asked as he raised a hand to his face. Yup, this definitely took the cake for being the strangest wake up call. Once he got his feet under him again though (which was, embarrassingly, taking a bit more time than normal), Sonic was sure that he'd be fine. If he could still run, then it didn't really matter what he was after all.

CHARACTER NAME: Link
SERIES: Twlight Princess
CANON POINT: After he defeats Ganondorf, before the Light Spirits revive Midna. ;;
APPEARANCE: HYAAAP
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier. Do I really need to explain why?

PERSONALITY: Your typical hero type.

Growing up in a small farming village on the edge of a forest as the few teenagers in the entire village, Link plays an interesting role as the middle man for the children and the adults. If the children were misbehaving, the adults got Link to try and get them to listen. If the children wanted the adults to hear them out, Link would be the one they went to... Or rather, if the children wanted something the adults wouldn't let them have, the young herder was going to be in for a long day. Nonetheless, the hero takes to each task with a calm demeanor and seems take to his task of being middle ground happily enough.

He cares deeply for the people of the village, as well as for the animals that reside in and around Ordona. Chances are, if you're looking for him, Link will be at the field, looking after the sheep or out performing other duties (like collecting firewood with Rusl). Responsible and kind with the occasional reckless decisions that can be expected from a teenager.

Which brings up another point, Link's impulsive, often times getting into greater trouble because he wanted to protect loved ones or he wanted to help a friend.  Several times in the game, he ends up being hurt or injured because he jumped headlong into danger, such as when he tried to attack Zant after exiting the Lakebed Temple.  Not the smartest move by far but he meant well.  He's very straightforward, and while he isn't in the dark about everything pertaining to the world, there are things that aren't as heavily emphasized in his small hometown as it would be in the city.  Certainly, if you try to bring up anything technologically advanced, you'll definitely leave Link in the proverbial dark.

He's a fast learner though, and a willing student.  It's just a matter of catching his attention.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: [there are a few attempts to type, most of which come out very clumsily before he accidentally hits the video option]

... A light?

[such lovely blue eyes a confused expression] Hm.... [the camera veers wildly before settling on... his pant leg? seems Link dropped the hand he was using to hold the comm device to look around, take in his environment and be thoroughly confused as only the Hero can be] Where is this? What has happened?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: When he had first set out, it was suppose to be as a simple errand.  A display of the good relations between the small Ordon province and the Kingdom of Hyrule.  However...

"Hya!"

That had been interrupted when the children - his friends - had been kidnapped.  Link had followed them to the Faron Province just north of their home, but the path was blocked.  The last thing he remembered from that time was being choked by a monster, then there was nothing.

"Torya!"

Waking up chained in a cell is one thing that Link had never experienced.  Then again, there were many things he hadn't experienced back then.  But what does one do when he wakes up chained in a cell as a wolf?  And with a strange imp talking to you?  Still, she did let him out so...

"Hah!"

That started their whole 'partnership'.  Collecting the Fused Shadows and freeing the Spirits of Light in the process (though discovering that he, the simple farm boy, was the Hero definitely surprised Link) then saving Midna after Zant had almost destroyed her, finding the Sword of Evil's Bane, fighting through all those dungeons to gather the Mirror then defeating Zant.

He did have to admit though, the Twili themselves did not appear or act anything like Midna or Zant.  They were nothing like the image the Spirit Lannaryu had painted.  Another notch on his ever growing list of surprises.

"..."

Which brought them up to date with the present situation.  Link and Midna had finally defeated Ganondorf, and the Princess had recovered.  All was well...

Until they heard the roar behind them.  As the two Hylians stared in surprise at the now cloud-like form of the Gerudo, the Twili had summoned forth the Fused Shadow.

"?!  Wait, Midna-!"

He wasn't allowed to finish when the other had used her magic to transport him away.  The last he saw of her was her relieved smile...

But it did not feel right, the sensation of being transported.  Midna had transported them all over Hyrule plenty of times during their journal, and he knew how it felt to be transported to the Twilight Realm as well, but this?  It felt as if he was going too far too fast.  Just where was he going to end up?

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Amaterasu
SERIES: Okami
CANON POINT: Post-Okamiden
APPEARANCE: as a human | as a wolf

To get into a bit of detail, for a rundown of the above pictures:
In her human form, Amaterasu takes on the appearance of a young woman (or, in the words of Yatsu, a “fair maiden”) with silver-white hair that reaches down around her waist and has red markings that cover various parts of her body (face, shoulders + back, as well as her legs). She stands only at 5’4” and has a rather lithe, yet slightly muscular, build. All her running around and fighting has helped her keep off the weight of having a bottomless pit for a stomach. Her clothing seems to vary, depending on her mood.

As a wolf, there are red markings cover her body. These are a sign of her godhood and they can only be seen by people who have a strong belief in the gods (or a god in general), demons, other gods, and those spiritually inclined. To those who could care less about - or have a very weak belief in - religion, gods, or other such things they are not visible.

note: Despite her being from post-Okamiden, I don’t...draw her with her Shiranui markings. Mainly because I'm lazy.

DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept Rogue (Macabre Dancer -> Edge Punisher); because it's what she was during HR's time over on livejournal, and I would like to keep her as such. I just switched up the order and made Macabre Dancer first. Main reason for the class choice is 1) she uses some big ass swords (re: glaives) in canon and 2) her Celestial Brush Skills are kind of like a Macabre Dancer's spells, in a way; while a majority of them are attack-based, Rejuvenation and Bloom are on-par with what could be thought of as healing magic.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: In Holy Relic, Amaterasu had been a level 46 Adept Rogue (Edge Punisher -> Macabre Dancer); her level will be cut in half to 23. The Items that she'll be bringing over is 1) summer yukata 2) her swimsuit and 3) ALL HER CHIM SPHERES her summer dress

PERSONALITY:
First and foremost: Amaterasu is the goddess of the sun. She is known as the origin of good and called a mother to all. So she can display a bit over-protectiveness of others since the people of Nippon are, technically, her children and it is a mother’s job to protect her children! As well as reprimand them when they do thing. So, at times, this reprimanding comes in the form of tough love. If by tough love that means “there is a child acting like a cry baby, let’s give him (or her) a headbutt to make them stop.” Surprisingly? It works. Especially when Issun gives the kid a bit of a talking to.

Despite being a goddess, however, most people just take her for a simple dog due to the fact that they are unable to see her markings (and even then, those who can see them don't really make comments on them). So they treat her as such, usually making comments about things because they think that she doesn’t understand them. Mr. Orange had gone so far as to say that while Amaterasu resembled Shiranui, she didn’t look quite as smart. Those sorts of comments are enough to irritate her, even if people may just be stating facts.

That fact may be just a little true. As knowledgeable and smart as Amaterasu is when it comes to certain things, there are also others that she can be confused by or just be relatively ignorant to. After Orochi’s defeat, Kamiki village had a celebration and Kushi and Susano were no where to be seen; when Amaterasu went to find them, and spoke to both of them, Issun made the remark that she doesn’t quite get it and that the two of them wanted to be alone.

She’s also got a bit of a competitive and playful spirit and is always willing to challenge someone to a race. It means that she gets to have some fun while showing off her speed. When the race is finally won - or, really, whenever she does anything that could warrant a bit of an ego boost - she can get rather huffy and overly proud of herself. And if that winning gets her some sort of prize, may it be material or a headpat, then she has achieved what she set out to do. Especially the headpatting.

After all, Amaterasu loves receiving (and giving) affection. While some people may offer the affection without needing a motivator to do so, Amaterasu can use her Bloom technique on an unsuspecting person and cause them to come and shower her with either headpats, being petted, or a hug of some sort. She rather enjoys abusing said technique for those purposes alone.

However, as driven as Amaterasu is to defeat the evil that plagues Nippon and save the land, she has a tendency to be slightly aloof, stubborn, and would probably end up lazing around if Issun was not with her. (The latter bit is something that he makes mention of in Okamiden, when speaking to Chibi.) She’s easily made bored if a person is going on a rather long tirade or speech or explanation; she does this shortly after Sakuya calls upon her for help, when she first meets with Waka after 100 years, and while the Spider Queen takes to ranting a bit. She may also take to napping even when there are other pressing matters at hand.

It's her goal, through the course of the game, to collect the thirteen brush techniques that had been lost from her a hundred years prior to the start of the game. It goes hand in hand with her goal of protecting the land of Nippon and vanquishing the evil that has overcome it. The safety of the people of Nippon, the fact that their belief in the gods have waned so greatly over the years, and the plight of the land itself is what motivates Amaterasu to work past her initially lazy and slightly slap-dash behavior. The farther her adventure takes her, the more she sees of the land and people, the more determined she becomes.

She travels one hundred years into the past to save a lost child of the Oina tribe - working alongside Nagi to defeat the True Orochi of that time until Shiranui arrived on the scene to finish off the legend. Her determination only wanes once and that is during the final battle; after what appears to be Yami's defeat, the Emperor of Darkness removes her of her powers once again - weakening Amaterasu. To her, that moment appeared to be the end. Darkness would win and take over the land. However, due to Issun's help and him taking his job as Celestial Envoy seriously, he helps restore the faith of the gods in the people of Nippon through his paintings. With this new found strength - returning to her once former glory - Amaterasu takes the hopes of those people onto her shoulders and defeats Yami.

Peace would come to the land of Nippon as she returns to the Celestial Plain after the long battle, Waka at her side, as to restore it back to its former beauty. Nine months later, Amaterasu's son, Chibiterasu, takes up the call of playing the hero role because evil had appeared again. During that time, Amaterasu is still on the Celestial Plain doing the whole restoring it gig.

But when it comes to decision making and whether or not to just go head in with a battle against a boss? Amaterasu the type who would much rather leap into something before thinking about it, of which Issun has become quite used to and “Leap before you think!” has become their motto and way to live by.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Natural Harmonia Gropius (Goes by "N")
SERIES: Pokemon Black
CANON POINT: End of the storyline
APPEARANCE: Boop. He's relatively tall, standing at 5'11". Unknown age, appears to be mid to late teens.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier. Aside from it being the most aesthetically suitable class for a "hero of legend" and a decent match for N's overall appearance as is, it also functionally suits N's battle style from home. While he did not fight himself, his battling was balanced with a wide variety of different types of Pokemon, who could be physical fighters or special attack fighters.

PERSONALITY:NOTE: N is coming from Pokemon Black Version, meaning that he is the "Hero of Ideals" and so he is searching for "ideals" instead of "truth" as he would be in White. In this application, I will be referring to the Main Character as a male, as well as any IC conversations that may just go that direction, but it can feasibly be retconned if a female MC applies to the game.

N is the king of Team Plasma, and was raised with only Pokemon at his side for the vast majority of his life. He grew up only hearing the voices of pained and hurt Pokemon, and from them he learned how to hear what Pokemon were saying, coming to understand their words. And as the only Pokemon he ever met were either entirely independent of human influence or had been sorely wronged by them, he was very heavily influenced and became incredibly misanthropic.

Growing up with Pokemon instead of with humans affected N in a very dramatic way. He has difficulty communicating with people on any sort of normal basis, speaking far too quickly and carrying a bizarre air of superiority. He knows that he is significantly more intelligent than anyone else, and that makes it very difficult for him to accept another opinion that differs from his own. Something specific has to stand out to him in order for him to consider their stance. His behaviors are, at many a time, very much like an animal's. He is earnest and energetic, he is frank and not deceitful, and he is very emotive, though more with body language and tone than directly with words.

When N battles with his Pokemon, he does not like it in full. He feels as though he is using them to suit his own needs, like any other trainer he's encountered, but likely does not go against their desire to want to help him. As Pokemon are naturally fighters, it is not necessarily that they are harmed in a fight that upsets N. Though that is a major factor, since he hates seeing his friends in pain, he detests the idea more that they are being used by him and often lets them leave, evidenced by the fact that he never has the same Pokemon in his party twice (aside from a Klinklang, arguably, who might have evolved from a Klink in a previous battle). He does not refer to his party as "his Pokemon", instead calling them "my friends". This way of befriending the Pokemon that travel with him shows how gentle and affectionate he can be, though in his own bizarre ways of showing it, referring at one moment to equations and absolutes and the next minute scolding Professor Juniper for applying labels and categories to Pokemon and effectively "dehumanizing" (de-pokemon-izing?) them.

This even extends to winning the heart of Zekrom without capturing it, never once restraining it into a Pokeball. Legendary Pokemon are often renowned to be incredibly challenging, often forcing a trainer to challenge them in battle to prove their worth, and it speaks volumes that N did not have to attempt a capture and only spoke to the dragon in order to gain its trust and loyalty, which is more than can be said for any Team leaders from other stories in Pokemon. This sort of kindness is often reserved for the main characters and other protagonists in Pokemon, and shows that N does have his heart set in the right place. He is not evil, as he believes that he will create happiness amidst Pokemon if he separates them from man. But he is, unfortunately, remarkably naive and horribly misguided, having been manipulated by Ghetsis all of his life. He has little sense of social manipulation or subtlety, making it difficult for him to recognize anything beyond his usual scope of a rather simplistic world view. He is an open book if one can grasp what he's trying to get at, but he isn't a master of riddles by any stretch of the mind. He is peculiar, but in the same way one understands an animal's quirkiness, he is not hard to interpret, and he leaves his heart on his sleeves.

Though N is extremely precise and methodical, as much as the mathematical equations he is so fond of, he is also very much a dreamer with big ideas. He wishes to create a world of absolutes, of "black and white", to free Pokemon from the clutches of man. Even N himself is very absolute, as he is both calculating and a dreamer, both detached and emotional, not one trait submitting to the others, creating a very overwhelming mix of raw drive and precision that is uncommon in most people. He believes that Pokemon can be perfected through their separation from man, having witnessed them at their happiest when they were working with one another instead of with humans.

As absolute as N is, and as strongly as he holds himself and his beliefs, there is a moment when he decides to allow someone to challenge them. When he encounters the main character, he hears the voices of the main character's Pokemon, all of which were very happy and excited to be with their new trainer. He does not concede immediately. Instead, he challenges the main character at every turn to grow stronger, and become the second legendary hero. This shows that N wanted to know, for certain, if he was entirely in the right. Unlike many villains, that do not care whether their causes are right or wrong, N does not want to proceed if he is shown to be holding the improper ideals.

His world begins to change when he starts getting more familiar with the main character, however. With the proverbial "foot in the door", N becomes curious of the main character, wishing to know his "truth" and what dreams he had as opposed to his own. In his own bizarre way, he begins to show signs of respect and great interest, provoking the main character many times to challenge his beliefs and challenge what he stands for. He likely wanted to know whether or not the main character's truth could overpower his ideals, and he was not one to turn his nose up at the notion of humans and Pokemon making each other truly happy. For the entirety of his journey, he waits for the final battle, to see whether or not he should change his opinions.

N starts to push the main character very hard at points in the journey. Whether it was intentional or not, he nearly threatens the main character by revealing knowledge about the main character's two best friends, Cheren and Bianca. N hardly bats an eyelash as he reveals that the Shadow Triad had spied on the three of them. Though it could have very well been yet another sign of how wildly disconnected N was from socially acceptable norms, it was still clearly meant to emphasize that the main character was neutral. A shade of grey. A mix, instead of the absolutes that N had. This was the most directly opposite force N could encounter, and his battles with the main character weren't simply about listening to his Pokemon. They were also meant to gauge the main character's resolve and to see if their stance was strong enough to challenge his. He wants the main character's truth to hold up, and he truly wants people and Pokemon to be happy, but until the very end he simply cannot believe in it.

When the climax starts to rise, N becomes very excitable and rather short with Alder, who begs at him to stop. N won't accept the words from someone who had lost to his resolve, and it is not until the main character summons Reshiram and defeats him that he concedes defeat and admits that his ideals were inferior to the main character's truths. For N, it was not the words that swayed him, but the actions. Proof through action is the truest form of communication, and that was what it took to shake N to his core.

At the end, N was left almost empty. Everything he had known had been turned on his head, and he had so much more to learn and relearn. He realized that he did not know everything he needed to know about Pokemon, and that he had to learn more about humans as well. Though he was very torn and conflicted, he decided to continue his journey with Zekrom at his side, starting anew, teaching himself out of old habits and behaviors, his story to be continued someday...

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[There were humans all around him, at all times. Anywhere he went, there was another person, another human being. It made him anxious. Nervous. Distrustful. From the very beginning, with his Pokemon gone and being around so many people, it was a very shocking and upsetting situation. It was a little too fast - he was going to try and expand beyond his previous bias, but this was much too fast.

But there was something that caught his eye. Beastmen. He started to spot them, amidst the human crowd, and though nervous, he decided to try and speak to any beastman he could find. He'll be approaching any beastman character, speaking a mile a minute,]

I want to know who you are. If that is acceptable to you, that is. Tell me, what do you make of this place? I want to know what you think, as I am not confident of what to make of this myself, even now.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
With a roar, the Fever Horse belched flames at the Blade Brandier. N cast Repth on himself briefly, before striking the Horse and cutting away its massive armor. Striking away at it, he moved before the next attack could fall, and cast Rue Don with a scroll. As the monster finally was reduced to zero hit points, N's level increased.

Level twenty, at last. He no longer had to needlessly pursue these "monsters", any more. Leaving the treasures untouched, he returned to the warp point, going back to Mac Anu. He could barely contain his excitement! For one in a good long while, he had a large and truly happy grin on his face. He frantically opened his Inventory, seeing the Pokeballs registered within them, finally. Moving out of the Chaos Gate area, he headed for the docks, wanting to see his friends out in the open again.

The sun was oddly warm, shining down on him as well as many other players in the area. But N had no interest in them, ignoring their presence entirely. He released the first of his Pokemon, Zoroark. As the Zoroark chattered at him, N's anxieties calmed, and the relief he felt was unbelievable. After being in this place for what seemed like forever, he had begun to fear that he was unable to speak to Pokemon any more, as the monsters could not speak a word that he understood. But now, as he listened to Zoroark's enthused words, he could hardly contain his joy. He released his Archeops, and then his Klinklang, and all of his party... even Zekrom was still with him. It stood tall and powerful, despite its weakened state, and N exchanged a few quiet words with all six of his dearest friends.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Roy Greenhilt
SERIES: The Order of the Stick
CANON POINT: Just before comic #834
APPEARANCE: Roy gets horrible news... as usual.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Edge Punisher... because canonically, Roy is a fighter who fights with a two-handed sword larger than he is.

PERSONALITY:

Roy is a defiance of the stereotypical 'dumb fighter' trope. Though he IS a good fighter, he's intelligent and capable of far more than just beating things down. Formally educated, he's made a point of pursuing a wide range of knowledge (such as having studied architecture and engineering, of all things!) But to pursue his childhood dream of being a warrior, though, he had to spurn his wizardly father's disdain of martial training. While for a long time he was driven by the need to show up his father's assertions of magical superiority, and prove that a 'fighter-jock' could defeat a threat that his father had failed to, Roy has grown beyond that since the start of his journey, and now seeks to defeat the world-threatening nemesis BECAUSE it is a world-threatening nemesis and not to spit in his dad's face.

Though Lawful Good in D&D terms, Roy inevitably puts being Good above being Lawful. He's gone so far as to work behind the backs of an entire order of paladins for the greater good, and routinely associates with chaotic members of his own party. But he continues to try, as is pointed out by no less than a celestial in charge of adjudicating such things, and strives to live up to the ideals of his chosen alignment, which is the important thing. (Of course, in terms of Evil, Roy doesn't even merit the slightest blip on the scale.)

On the downside, Roy tends to be a bit of a jackass. He's quick with a disparaging or snappy comment, or a downright tirade, when something has angered, offended, or just annoyed him. Even his friends -- especially his friends -- aren't immune to this. Compounding this is the fact that he can be irritated, annoyed, or just pained fairly easily, and can be sharp-tongued when it isn't justified. He also has an overtly Freudian connection to his family greatsword, and frequently assumes he knows much more about a situation than he actually does, to his detriment.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

[Another fine day, another quest for experience and treasure! Greatsword in hand, Roy cheerfully charged around the zone he'd made, smacking fiends around with a Power Attack and a Cleave here and there. Still, in the midst of his questing, he still takes time to pause and consider (out loud, of course).]

All I'm sure of now is that whatever happened, it wasn't a conversion to fourth edition. I mean, it's all so different. Whatever happened, the entire system couldn't have possibly changed THIS much.

[Awkward pause, possibly for the benefit of the fourth wall.]

I DO want to know what drunken assemblage of wizards with whatever item creation feats got their hands on the equipment monopoly that has to be in effect here. Swords with leaves for blades? Stupid hats? I don't think even a mime would wear some of those berets I've seen people running around with. Though I'm sure I can think of a certain bard who would.

...I hate to admit it, but I even miss Elan.

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:

Roy had never formed a guild before, but he HAD formed an adventuring party, and the two really couldn't be so different except for substantially less pain and suffering when the guild wasn't together as a whole -- as opposed to the adventuring party, which had consisted of a bunch of solo or pair arcs the entire party could have easily defeated with their pooled resources.

That being said, Roy had taken up a seat in the corner of a server inn, in the best 'mysterious old man' disguise he could possibly come up with. Eyepatch; long, false beard; cloak covering his body; elaborate cane that didn't actually but certainly LOOKED like it was concealing a weapon or two; incredibly tall, pointed hat.

Unsurprisingly, he felt like an idiot. Same as last time. Still, Elan had taught him this trick, and he'd been right. Hell, Roy even had to admit he was grateful to the bard. As crazy, mixed-up, messed-up, troublesome, irritating, and aggravating the Order of the Stick had been... they were his adventuring party.

He hoped they were getting by without him.

Still, he had to trust they'd find their way to him -- because he certainly couldn't find his way to THEM from here. And in the meantime, he had things to take care of here... like this PKK guild.

It was time to bring some order and justice back to the wastelands these servers had become!

CHARACTER NAME: Princess Hitei (Hiteihime)
SERIES: Katanagatari
CANON POINT: after episode 12
APPEARANCE: like this but her hair has been cut shorter since the final episode, and she wears a mask-- wait let me just get another image to cover her neck upwards. here you go. Note that the X-markings around her neck seem to be either a bizarre family trait or a traditional Shikizaki tattoo, as her ancestor has them too.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Macabre Dancer; straight off, Hiteihime has absolutely no physical ability whatsoever. She spends most of her time lounging around her palace plotting and ordering her bodyguard to go out and actually do all the fighting. And she doesn't mind that. Her weapons are her brain, her wit, and her ability to alter events from the sidelines. A caster role is required, clearly. Her series theme is the rose - they're everywhere on her clothing and belongings - so it seems fitting for her to be a class known as the Flower of the Battlefield. She is also accustomed to using a fan for gestures and dramatic movements. She already has a tendency to partner herself with a strong physical fighter for protection, providing the brains and the money behind whatever they're doing, so it isn't that great a leap.

PERSONALITY: Hiteihime. 'Princess Denying'. She's exactly what it says on the tin. Her theme, her fundamental character trait, is her denial of everything around her; deny history, deny the people around you, deny your own past. Deny what you said a minute ago, if it suits your whim. Even her name is an alias, but her true name is lost in the annals of time and she doesn't really care enough to keep it. She's fundamentally fickle, dismissing anything she grows bored of, but she's also perverse and contrary - she'll change a plan just to irritate a co-conspiritor. "It would be interesting to see the plan succeed... But it would also be interesting to see it fail. So I don't care either way," is her stance on it. Even so, she is tenacious, sticking to one cause for years even if she lost interest in the final few yards and it ultimately failed. She doesn't care - she survived, which is more than most of those involved can say.

She's clever - very clever, for a princess confined to a palace within the shogunate for most of her life - and she's cunning, with a quick, cruel tongue and a knack for insults. She can seem childish, sometimes, especially in her sense of humour, but she's anything but. A chaotic neutral entity, if you will, who changes mood and demeanour on a whim, and one used to having to find competent allies to do her work for her due to her station and social limitations. Her curiosity and appetite for information is vast. For a women kept immobile, information and money are her two weapons, and she has mastered them.

Disliking those who can outwit her, she also sees them as worthy rivals, and generally ends up feeling strongly for them. Her only true rivals are, by the time she arrives in the World, dead and gone, and she has emerged victorious. In a way, she's grown out of that game, but that's not to say she won't pick it up again if the opportunity presents itself. Those less cunning than her become pawns or pets, or merely stepping stones along her current route. Not that she doesn't like them. She's often affectionate or helpful, in her own way, even if she'll deny it afterwards, and she's generally pleasant and cheerful to strangers... But, well. It's when you get to know her that her sharp wit might cut you. Think of her like a cat. It's when she draws close to you that you come in range of her claws.

Another note is that she comes from a long line of soothsayers. Although she does not - as far as she's willing to say - possess any powers of foresight herself, she has access to the prophecies and recordings of thousands of years of her family. Her opinion of history and the flow of time is a tad warped. She has unnatural knowledge of the future... as seen from feudal Japan. So, not that useful once she's in another world, really, but at least she has a solid base of knowledge to work from, and one that will likely morph into cheery curiosity.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: Here!

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: The duality of her life had disappeared. Whereas before there had been 'actions that furthered the plan of Shikizaki' and 'actions that obstructed it', there was now only the day-to-day humdrum of the road, wayside restaurants, and the occasional scuffle. Shichika ignored her and her chatter for the most part - but then, she was used to talking to someone with no expression, with no measurable response whatsoever. She chattered anyway. She laughed, and smiled. She felt lighter, younger.

Lighter, ha. It wasn't just a spiritual alleviation, either. Her hair had gone from a groomed weight down her back to curls almost as short as that hateful woman's absurd bob now, looping around her ears in a girlish way that took a decade away from her age. If asked, Hitei would most definitely deny that she enjoyed it, even as she carefully arranged curls to fall more pleasingly around her face each morning. It wasn't even as though she had anyone to please. Her hair would never live up to his dead lover's, just as his companionship could never live up to the silent smile of a dead ninja. She did it for herself, just as she did everything for herself nowadays.

No plan. No duality. Nothing to deny, other than her old rank and importance, her heritage. She checked the map again, and marked down the next inn that they would be able to afford, before passing it to Shichika. They would eat well, if they survived the journey.

She laughed again, for no reason at all.

SERIES: Kimi wa Pet! (mangaverse)
CANON POINT: post vol.10, same as last
APPEARANCE: here. Takeshi looks like your average 19-year old. He’s got curly brown hair, brown eyes, not too tal or too short for his age, and he’s built pretty well, thanks to dancing most of his life.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Macabre Dancer, because that’s what he was before. And because he’s actually a dancer and kicks ass at it.
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: YEP. He should be around level 9 after sub-quest 5, so now he’s level 4 now. I don’t think I kept track of his event items though, so he’ll have nothing.

CHARACTER NAME: Viki
SERIES: www.suikosource.com/games/
CANON POINT: from the end of Suikoden V after once again missing the victory party
APPEARANCE: http://www.suikosource.com/chars/list/imageviewnojs.php?img=v/viki11.png&char_id=128
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: The Harvest Cleric class would be the best match for Viki I believe.  In her canon with the exception of the first game of the series Viki serves as a strong mage and always uses a wand as a weapon.  Technically she isn't biased towards defensive or offensive spells but I feel a cleric would fit her personality better.

PERSONALITY: Viki lives in a perpetual state of confusion.  She has been lost for an unknown amount of time and travels across huge distances and through time, she honestly isn’t sure where she is or where she’s going.  She’s a straightforward and somewhat carefree girl; she’d be a horribly simple person if she actually made sense to other people.  She’s in an inland nation now?  Last she remembers she was in an island nation, a good hundred years ago.

Aside from her eccentricities Viki seems like a normal teenaged girl (even if it seems that she’s never been younger and will never be older).  She’s friendly and open, if a bit timid when scolded.  She is eager to offer her help even if she fumbles and makes mistakes.  She’s a genuine and honest girl even if it seems as if she isn’t very perceptive (and really kind of stupid) she does her best.  Though she is always a fleeting presence, coming and going without having a choice of when and where, she cares as much as she knows how to.

Despite the fact that she seems to be linked to a greater destiny than she is capable of understanding she never expresses any resentment or even fear of it.  She accepts each conflict she is brought into and looks forward to the celebration that will come at the end…even though she always just misses it.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: Atchh--! [ a girl appears out of thin air--! Except that's probably the norm for a MMORPG. ]

H-huh? [ she looks around and around, swaying until she's made a full spin to look around her. ] Where is... here?

[ wasn't she somewhere else just a moment ago? ]
I was home! I was home! [ well, the room was...somewhat like home anyways... but after a moment of excitement she calms down with a look of confusion, murmuring to herself. ]

That's not right...no, no. Um...maybe I was-- wait, what was that place again? [ she's lost for a moment puzzling through too many places and times that she only half remembers before there's another jolt and she straightens up, practically jumps! ]
Oh! I missed the party again!

I wanted to eat with Prince...

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: The world was spinning. Or maybe worlds, it was always hard for Viki to tell, two seconds in and she squeezed her eyes shut and tried to squeeze everything together to just hold on so that she didn’t lose anything. Her staff, her necklace, her hands and feet, her memories…doing everything she could to hold onto every piece of herself while everything rushed by in flashes of bright and dizzying colours.

She’d missed the meal again of course. Maybe for once there could be a warm meal waiting for her when everything cleared out. A new young face…maybe like the Prince, with his soft hair and softer smile, steely resolve and a heart that could carry it all with grace. They were all a bit like that, weren’t they? But still special in their own way. She was sad, again she hadn’t quite gotten to say goodbye but at the same time excited. Who would she meet this time? Who would be here this time?

Maybe, maybe she’d stay for the meal this time, the party and the happily ever afters. Or maybe this time she would find herself home.

The thought made her laugh, or it would if it were possible when she was only half solid, not present in any place. Home would have been nice but after so long, would she miss the gatherings more or home? Wherever she was arriving Viki held her breath as if she were about to dive into water.

Ah, this time she would remember to ask Jeane where it was that she saw her last.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Arisato Minako
SERIES: Persona 3 Portable
CANON POINT: Before the Promised Day! Specifically, 29th January 2010.
APPEARANCE: \o/
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Macabre Dancer. Minako normally wields a naginata in battle but this doesn't translate well into any of the other classes. The reason that I've picked Macabre Dancer over all the others is because the class is a balanced caster which translates well to Minako’s ability to persona-switch depending on the situation.

PERSONALITY:
( As a disclaimer to this section: Minako is a silent protagonist like the original male main character.
However, it is clear from her dialogue options that she is a upbeat and cheerful individual.
That is the basis of this written personality. )

( "You're outwardly adorable.
And yet, you have it in you to be stronger, more courageous,
and more charismatic than a man..."

- Mitsuru.
)

On the surface, it's easy to see Minako as a ditz: she sometimes has her head in the clouds, latches onto the weirdest things in certain conversations and is oblivious to a conman/celebrity's scam until he admits the truth and this is despite her being insightful regarding her other social links. It probably doesn't help that her Arcana is of the Fool -- the inexperienced childlike spirit at the beginning of a journey.

Minako, however, presents herself as a cheerful and energetic girl. Nearly always smiling, she never does things half-heartedly, whether it's leading a group of her comrades to scale a seemingly endless tower or visiting a dark alley in the middle of the night to play detective. A quick thinker, flexible, she adapts easily and can often remain calm in the worse of situations, which makes her a good leader. In spite of this, Minako thinks with her heart and not her head; when it comes to danger befalling the people she cares about, she's willing to put her own life at risk, and this is exactly why she rushes in to defend a friend of hers against thugs without a single thought of how she would defend herself.

Emotional, she's prone to quick outbursts of anger that fade just as fast and she holds very little grudges, willing to put aside past animosity and lend a helping hand or listening ear to friends, strangers and enemies alike. However, she does not wear her heart on her sleeve. More often than not, Minako represses all of the negative emotions and insecurities, burying them all deep inside herself.

It's no surprise then that Minako's initial persona is 'Orpheus', a man who had lost the love of his life to death itself and entered the underworld in order to rescue her soul; like Orpheus, Minako lost her family ten years ago. Being constantly shifted from place to place, from foster family to foster family, did not allow Minako to forge endurable bonds of friendship and so she learnt to be independent and alone even if she yearned for friends and a family to call her own.

Coming to Gekkoukan and meeting the people she did meet her changed her and her outlook ever so slowly. Here there were people who could empathize with her own background; here, there were people who offered to listen and share the burdens she held even if she never took them up on it. The contract she signed her first night here awoke her to the fact that she was responsible for her own life and the decisions she made; knowing that she would remain at Gekkoukan for at least two years, Minako made an effort to improve herself as a person over the past year, becoming a Genius in Academics with a Bewitching Charm and Badass Courage.

( "It seems you've discovered each of the social links, and formed strong bonds with them all.
In order to have gotten so well, with so many different people... You must have worn many faces.
Perhaps you'll find this useful, since you seem to be able to adopt any sort of face...
A cipher like you... ...should have this."

- Igor.
)

A Persona is defined as a manifestation of a person's psyche and is a facet of a person's personality that reacts to the world. As a Wild Card, Minako can switch Personas as easily as changing her clothes; she's both perceptive and good at fitting in with others. Some might call it being manipulative but Minako sincerely wishes the best for everyone.

At the end of the day, this is a girl who loved her friends and the world enough to give her life up in order to protect everyone and this is a girl who held on to life in order to fulfil the promise she made with them.

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
Hello everyone(*・ω・)/ This is Minako here! In order to train, I've been exploring a lot of areas and everything is so beautiful.

My favourite field so far is Δ Dawning Love's Fortune! It's pleasant and sunny, complete with lush grass and brilliant flowers. Has anyone else been there before? What are your favourite area words? (*≧ω≦)Please share them with me!

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
Slowly, over the month, Minako became certain that everyone had made their own decisions. The dark mood and tension that had settled in with Ryoji's departure was slowly disappearing, leaving no fragments of doubt behind. She could sense their determination even in their fear, sense their strength even in their weakness, sense their answer -- even if none of them had spoken it aloud.

We'll fight, she thought to herself. We'll fight, all of us, together.

Death came to everyone, death spared no one -- but, even now, Shinjiro-senpai was clinging on to life in his coma in the hospital. Even now, Akinari-san was struggling to finish his story of the pink crocodile and the bird. Even now, her non-SEES friends were out there, living their lives out to the fullest.

She would not kill Ryoji; this was a decision she had made since she was first offered a choice. She could not kill him -- and she would not, even if she had never known him. No matter how painful or tough it would be, she wanted to fight Nyx, to prevent the tragedy that would befall the world if they did not.

"Hey," Junpei started to say, one day after class, "if Ryoji were to walk in and sit down like nothing happened, how would you react?"

There were so many things she could say, so many things that she wanted to say. But... She could not say them aloud. After all, she wasn't supposed to cry, right? Hiding her sadness, Minako grinned. "20 demerits for tardiness."

CHARACTER NAME: Kratos Aurion
SERIES: Tales of Symphonia
CANON POINT: Post personal epiphany (“To think, I had to have my son teach me such an obvious lesson.”).

APPEARANCE: Official art. Kratos also wears a locket at all times. What looks like a red gem is lodged in the back of his right hand.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier; Kratos equips daggers or swords in game and is overall a well-rounded combat unit, with equal parts speed and strength. He is also able to use very limited healing magic in game and a couple of extensive magical attacks, but I do not believe he favours them enough to argue a dual-class with casting.

PERSONALITY: Kratos is a man bent under the weight of the many years of his life—he carries a sober, subdued air about him and keeps what few personal opinions he still recognises as his own close to his chest. His depth of loyalty runs to the extent of fatalistic devotion, even in the face of a degenerated leader; he keeps a promise to said leader's dead sister for thousands of years, despite mounting evidence pointing to its futility.

On the whole, Kratos is a follower, not a leader, with a strong sense of justice. He rarely speaks with authority to correct others, though he does speak with firm confidence on topics he is familiar with. Outwardly, he passes as a serious man with a somewhat dry sense of humour, but he can be easily persuaded to take on the role of a father figure, particularly to young men in need of such. There are specific topics which bring to light his extensive self-hatred and self-blame, which often leads to him speaking both defensively and self-deprecatingly. No matter what emotion he is feeling in the moment, he is always exceedingly stubborn.

Due to the canon point he is coming from, he will be less given to brooding than he usually is, though his guilt for abandoning Lloyd a second time—at arguably the most important time to stay by his side—will slowly eat away at his composure. He will see The World as a fascinating new space to explore and comprehend, and hope to use it as a distraction from where he should be and what he should be doing. In the future, he will likely end up a PKKer, as PKing conflicts with his personal beliefs.

(Personality section informed by the original Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Fandom 2, and some of the manga adaptation. Please note I have no experience with the OVA adaptaion or the spin-off/sequel.)

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[The first thing he does is test the balance of the new sword on his hip. It gives him time to process the setting around him: the new, puzzling town bathed in sunset, the strangely-dressed people streaming past him on either side, the hum of words in his hear just barely out of sync with the incomprehensible mumur of passers by. He turns his back to the crowd and takes himself to the first quiet space he can find—a place to settle and think.

The device in his pocket arouses more questions than it answers; clearly it's a significant source of information, but none of it holds any meaning to him. With a short sigh, he returns it to its place and stands once more, his hand straying to rest on the hilt of his new sword. He will find nothing out by sitting here.

Back straight, he strides back into the press, seeking out out someone who seems able and willing to explain this situation.]

(Please see the following samples for Kratos interacting with others; he is not one to do so without good reason. Example 1, Example 2. I promise he can play nice, samples just do not give me a good space to do so.)

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
It was Anna who opened his eyes.

He'd long since closed them to Mithos's corruption, long since ceased to see the half-elf as the youth he'd once tutored in swordsplay, long since turned away from what he could understand but dearly didn't want to—long since simply given up.

Anna's fingers passed over his closed eyes, one hand warmer than the other due to the life-draining crystal in the back of her hand. Her voice had never been anything more than a voice, soft in some ways and rough in others, and commanding when she intended for him to listen. A quiet whisper, but it was all her could hear: “There's always a way to make a difference, Kratos. As long as you're still alive, you have no reason to give up.”

His first instinct was to argue. To say that he wasn't capable, wasn't powerful, wasn't strong enough, didn't know—but he found himself believing her. Such was the plain, simple magic of Anna. He doubted that Yuan still recalled their original goal, the one that the four of them had sought after bringing an end to the war. He knew Mithos—Yggdrasill—didn't. And Martel was long since gone, the cause of his companions' degeneration.

He had never harboured anything other than respect for Martel, and he finds it vaguely funny that it's taken another woman to remind him of the dreams he'd once believed in. The longing for a world without descrimination; a world where all had the right to live as they would.

Anna's fingers touched his face again, gently, and he opened his eyes to meet hers. As such, he was struck with a sudden, painful understanding: she knew. He hadn't had to say a word, because she knew.

-

That was the moment swimming before his eyes when he came to, the renewed weight of his ever ongoing life settling again on his shoulders. Such a significant moment in his life stolen away from him a second time—not, now, by Anna's death, but by the resumption of proof that he was a fool to believe it again.

It's Lloyd, this time, who takes his hand and squeezes it, and snaps that there is no meaning in dying. He tips his head back, a low chuckle sounding from his throat. Of course. Martel knew, Anna knew, and here now, Lloyd knows—he'd do well not to forget again.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Taiwan
SERIES: Axis Powers Hetalia
CANON POINT: Modern day
APPEARANCE: boop but she will look more like this in-game I guess
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Twin Blade. Taiwan as a character strikes me as someone who wants to help others, but at the same time, she's too stubborn and restless to stay behind the front lines. Although she herself would initially pick a more popular class, it is this class fits her the most.

PERSONALITY:
In between being at constant gunpoint and a crisis of identity and diplomacy, Taiwan has little time to sulk. When she has a thousand irons to pull out of the fire, you don't hear her whining. Winners don't whine. She can't show anyone any weaknesses, you know. She simply can't afford to be sad! This is why Taiwan has this easygoing, upbeat attitude about, well, everything. No matter what life throws at her, she'll just take it in stride. One thing at a time! Worrying too much makes you too stressed, too old. It's too troublesome. Anyway, why worry? She has no time for that! She still has to come out strong, even stronger. When she loses focus and loses hope, it'll be all over. Luck hasn't been on her side for some time, though, and you can't see it on her face, but she doesn't enjoy it in the least. In fact, she dislikes being surrounded by negativity. Anything that tries to pull her down will get a well-deserved roundhouse kick. She says it herself - she doesn't believe in bad fortunes. Everything will be okay, she knows it!

Taiwan is a sweet, cheerful girl who is always full of energy. Having been dragged around by the nation as fast as her legs could carry her to get to a photo studio, Vietnam can attest to that. She is the Taiwan has a very positive outlook on life: in one comic strip, she says, "The Taiwanese don't believe in bad fortunes!" Or a more accurate translation on my part: "The Taiwanese don't believe in bad results!" She looks at the brighter side of things even when they are turning out for the worse. When Japan gets a bad fortune himself, brimming with optimism, she tells Japan that, well, they can just forget about it, you know, and try again next time! Anything depressing rarely gets her down.

... Unless they're Asian dramas, those are the saddest. Although not as dramatic as Korea or neurotic as Japan or China, Taiwan can be emotionally impulsive and capricious. Taiwan is often quick to react when someone provokes her and her actions are often juvenile in doing so, but forgets whatever transpired just as fast afterwards. On the rare event that she does feel sad, it won't take too long before she jumps back up on her feet. Sometimes people wonder if her speedy recoveries do happen as fast as they seem. When constantly in a sticky situation, remaining optimistic and cheerful as usual without holding any grudges is just the less stressful thing to do. It's what gets her through her days.

The small island nation doesn't sweat about the little things and think of plans for the long haul - it comes with her carefree nature. This leads to occasional recklessness and clumsiness. Yeah, no, she is the epitome of grace. Also, pigs can fly. She's very feminine and girly, but a little rough around the edges and not exactly ladylike in manners. In the comics, she uses assertive and masculine sentence enders in Japanese, which give her speech an enthusiastic and energetic feel. So she's not the perfect bride she appears to be, but that's okay, she's painfully adorable. She uses onomatopoeia, contracts words to make them catchier - all in all, her speech and mannerisms are what most people call cute. Even when she uses that occasionally sharp tongue on them.

In spite of political issues and controversy, Taiwan is an easygoing girl. In the April Fool's 2011 strips, when someone attempts to blackmail her into wearing a dress with an embarrassing photo of herself, their plan is thwarted when she laughs it off and comments, "It's a well-taken photo!" She doesn't sweat about the small things and lives life one day at a time. That doesn't mean she's lazy, though. It's quite the contrary - she values hard work and ambition and is very earnest with everything she does. She's got to be - she has big dreams! And to reach her goals, she's got to put in a lot of effort and have a lot of patience! She still gets mad when the mail doesn't arrive in time.

Peace and quiet is something Taiwan appreciates very much, but during peacetime, things can get boring, you know? So she drags her friends around town have a little fun, goes to a new restaurant to pig out in and finds the strangest aspects in the most mundane things. Fun, in fact, gets her mind off most things. Taiwan is into fashion, music, gossip - she is very trendy and up to date with the latest fads and happenings, but this also means that she tends to get bored of things easily. That might possibly explain her tastes and brand of eccentricity... which share an uncanny resemblance to Japan's. She hates the monotony of everyday life and tries to make each day a little more special than the next. It's always fun being with Taiwan! Unless she's sitting at home watching a sappy Rainie Yang drama for the umpteeth time, crying her eyes out and asking for another tissue to blow her nose with when Show Luo's character tugs at her heartstrings. She loves living vicariously through stories and often sticks her nose in other people's business. No, she doesn't mean any harm by it. Yes, she has nothing else better to do.

But when Taiwan helps you, it's not out of boredom, nope. While it's true that there are benefits that come with giving and giving, she is generous when it comes to gifts. While she does have a lot to give, she also lives by the principle of giving back tenfold what was given to her. Even if the person has done only one small thing for her, she'll remember it. She'll keep it to heart and return the favor someday - it'll be even bigger and better! This nature of hers is also because she gives importance to harmonious relationships and she likes making people happy. This way, she'll get a lot of friends! It would help if no nation was stopping them from approaching her.

Because of this, there are times when Taiwan gets bouts of loneliness and insecurity. Though usually honest and frank, she hides those little feelings behind her smile. It doesn't mean that her cheerfulness is fake - it's only better to move on than dwell on things like that. Besides, a smile always looks better than a frown. She smiles, even at strangers. She is often shy with them, but that's natural. What doesn't come naturally to her is how she musters up the courage to speak to them. It's a little difficult, but she understands how important it is to have friends because of her political situation and is always willing to make more. She wishes she was more popular so that the whole ordeal would be a lot simpler.

She won't ever let those thought get her down, though. As easygoing as she may be, she's a strong-willed girl when it counts. It's to the point where she is stubborn to a fault - she asserts herself to the best of her abilities and haggles and will stop at nothing to get what she wants if she knows it's good for her. This gets her out of depressing situations! Unfortunately, when coupled with her childishness and temerity, it also gets her in a lot of trouble. She's capricious in her half-baked decisions, in other words, she doesn't think things through and often changes her mind. There are a few things she has her mind set on, though - being recognized by everyone as more than the little island off China's coast and being able to stand on her own without anyone's help.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[ And once again, Taiwan is thinking out loud, holding up the new hats and dolls she received from random guys on the internet. She is not weirded out by this at all, but she doesn't seem to be exploiting her assets either. It's more like...

She's absolutely clueless. ]

Everyone's so nice! I've got lots of cute items and money already. [ despite being only level 10!! but she pouts ] I can't equip them yet, though.

[ What can she do to solve this problem? She taps on her chin. Think, think. ]

Aiya, I guess I should start looking for a party to join. [ Everyone here is nice enough, so there shouldn't be a problem finding someone willing to help her out. She taps on a character's shoulder. He or she might even be you. ] Hi! I'm only starting out and I don't have a lot of friends here so... I was wondering if you could help me level up? Please?

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
taken from an app for another game!

The pillars towering over her petite frame remind her of the gods she read of in books; the pool before her feet, of the calm seas they would grant her. Rays of light envelop her skin in the warmth of summer, but that was the strangest of all things, for back in Taipei, showers fell on her umbrella and the sky was nowhere as bright and clear. Perhaps weather is being as fickle as always, yet her surroundings, which had been constant up to this point, are not the ground she always walked on. This doesn't look like her home, doesn't smell like her home. Any connection she previously felt is lost.

No, no, no, it's too soon. Taiwan knew she had more time in the world than this. Holding back the tears welling up, her eyes flutter. A temple, but no people. No life to celebrate. Taiwan shakes her head - worrying won't do her any good, and biting on her lip was never a nice habit. The most curious thing before her at the moment is not her location, but the box that catches her immediate attention. Something about that aura tells her to approach it.

One careful foot over the pool, and all of a sudden, a searing pain attacks Taiwan's chest. She instantly yelps, walks forward, and puts a hand over her breast, unaware of the waters rising up around her. Whether it was from stress or a wound inflicted on her, she doesn't figure that out just yet, because when she does look up after wincing, she jumps back with her eyes open wide. There she was reflected in the water, naked. How shameful!

"Aiya! What happened? Th, these are really perverted mirrors, you know!" Taiwan exclaims as she attempts to hide behind the altar, only to find her bare back shown to her. What kind of magic was this? What kind of dream was she in now? In the process of shifting her arms to cover as much area as possible, a spot lighter than the rest of her fair skin glows in the mirror. This doesn't go unnoticed. Upon unbuttoning her blouse just enough to inspect her skin, the glowing had already stopped, revealing a faint, familiar mark - the symbol of Libra.

"What is this?" Her finger traces the new shape on her skin. There was not a scar on her, as if the pain in her chest earlier never happened. "Hmm, I've always wanted a tattoo there, I guess..."

A chuckle escapes her mouth. This wasn't life after death yet. And if it is? This isn't the end. None of this made sense to her, but drawing her to this place, showing her this mark - it should mean something in this new world she was in. That something, whatever it is, might lead her to more answers and eventually, a way back home. Positive thinking wins this round again!

As Taiwan opens the box on the stone altar, she takes in a deep breath and pulls off her best smile.

character.
CHARACTER NAME: Leon Magnus (Emilio Gilchrist)
SERIES: Tales of Destiny
CANON POINT: First game, just before the cave he's in floods.
APPEARANCE: boop
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier. Leon is typically shown with a sword and dagger, but the dagger is secondary, and he fights with only a sword and shield in early incarnations. Also, any of his magical abilities technically belonged to his sword and not himself.

PERSONALITY: Raised into perfection by a man entangled in the throes of madness, Leon is specially conditioned to project some kind of ideal persona. It must be something befitting of a “Knight Captain”, a cold-hearted warrior that is strict, authoritative, and no-nonsense, capable of making decisions uninfluenced by emotions. It must be something befitting of an “adult”, someone independent and strong, relying on no one and trusting only himself. Half is what his father had shaped in the quest to fulfill his own ambitions. The other half was forged from a desire to break away from that same man, and to reclaim a life unshackled by those ambitions. He changed his name in an attempt to build that life, but unfortunately has a shaky sense of identity as a result.

That said, Leon has the capability to be very driven. He'll go to great lengths to prove himself, and even greater to protect the few things that are important to him, even if it means sacrificing something of the former. However, he'll almost always shoulder the burden himself and make decisions on his own before consulting others. There are certain things he feels cannot be changed, or things he's too afraid to change in the face of what might be lost, and it's very difficult to budge him once he's reached this conclusion.

Too reserved (or perhaps afraid) to trust anyone but a select few, he'll very rarely open his heart to others, always prepared to doubt people's intentions or prevent himself from appearing vulnerable. In his mind, there are always ulterior motives, nor would there be anything gained from becoming too attached. It would likely only hinder him in his goals-- That is what he tells himself.

Unfortunately for him, things are never quite so simple. It's undeniable that there is a desire for companionship lurking beneath the protective layers of mistrust, arrogance, and duty. Leon is actually very clumsy when it comes to his honest feelings, and because he doesn't know a proper way to express himself, he would rather not bother at all and deal with the consequences. Although he tries to appear much older and more confident than he is, he's still young and craves the things that his childhood denied him. Those that are persistent in approaching him are his greatest weakness, because he finds himself wanting to respond to that affection, and accept the outstretched hands of others.

When it comes down to it, to those he trusts he is an almost entirely different person. He loses some of his sharp edge and standoffish qualities (even shows a capability for more light-hearted teasing), and to those he holds in the highest of regard can even be amiable and willing to please. He does seek to impress people on occasion, harboring the desire to be praised and acknowledged by those he considers important, and in few instances may even come off as shy. (But if anyone knew, that would ruin his image.) On the same note, he'll also be affected by their disapproval of him, in some cases making it possible to adjust his surly disposition through a good scolding.

Overall, while he tries to appear mature and composed, he can often be reduced to the child he actually is-- hot temper and all-- awkward, defensive, and not too hard to fluster. He isn't always entirely unpleasant to be around, will look out for people he comes to care about, and does have the qualities of a good fighter. Just don't expect it to be easy to get him to like you.

FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
This isn't my... I couldn't have...

[ There is a rather distressed young man wandering town today. Unlike most people, he seems to be less concerned with where he is, and more concerned with what he's lost. He looks tempted to trash the sword at his side. ]

I had him just a second ago, unless I'm already dead. This is ridiculous... Where is my sword?!

[ He seems frustrated that none of what he's been given is providing him any answer to that question. ]

Marian, Chal... I'm sorry...

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
... Young Master?

Chal’s voice snapped Leon out of his thoughts, made him realize what he’d been doing. Standing in the manor, staring up at that detailed portrait of his deceased mother—He hadn’t spaced out like this since he was very young, since Marian had first started working there. Marian, who looked so much like the woman in that portrait—Marian, who had become exceedingly important even despite Leon’s initial attempts to reject her. Leon must have realized, at least subconsciously, that Hugo had chosen her on purpose.

“It’s nothing, Chal,” he assured, adjusting the Swordian at his side and moving on. One thing Leon could appreciate was that Chal usually understood these things; he didn’t make any comment on Leon’s behavior, though he did make a regretful sort of mumbling sound that Leon disregarded.

Marian was out tending to the garden when Leon found her, something that wasn’t included in her duties but that she liked to do regardless. She smiled when she saw him, brushing some of her hair out of the way. “Emilio... Are you heading out, now?”

“If it gets too difficult, why don’t you take back your old name?”

He couldn’t, now more than ever. It seemed like everything was just finally starting to fall into place. One day, his father would have no power left over him at all—not even in name. To that end, how could he just give it all up?

“I’ll be back soon, Marian.”

CHARACTER NAME: Archer (EMIYA)
SERIES: Fate/Stay Night
CANON POINT: Post-Unlimited Blade Works route.
APPEARANCE: Here!
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING:
I'm going with Adept Rogue for Archer. His name is kind of a contradiction, but everyone who plays Fate/ knows that Archers are just big jerks and not actual archers. Of course, he can use a bow. Like a boss. But while his Fate/ class depicts Archers as "masters of projectile weapons", this Archer wasn't really meant to be a Servant at all. His secialties are exactly that of a jack-of-all-trades - he uses twin swords most of the time, despite his class of "Archer". Not only that, but he is equal in nearly all of his weapons stats, not really excelling in a single area. While he can use a bow, a lance, his fists or a sword, Archer is truly adept at all of them due to his belief that to be good enough, he had to work for it himself. He can summon and replicate any weapon he's seen - even Noble Phantasms.

[personal profile] recreate 2012-04-04 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
PERSONALITY:

Archer is just a huge bitch. With that, this application is over.

But it’s not. Archer is bitter, cranky, snarky and moody – but there is a lot to him. He enters the Holy Grail War as a Heroic Spirit, a Servant. He is summoned by Rin Tohsaka in the fifth War, in the class ‘Archer’. His alignment is stated to be True Neutral, meaning that his wish for the Grail isn’t something evil or good. Due to his past as a living being, Archer’s goal is to kill Shirou Emiya and create a time paradox where he could erase his existence.

Why? Because Shirou Emiya - the protagonist of Fate/Stay Night - is actually Archer himself, so to speak. Archer is a potential future version of Shirou from an alternate timeline where his ideals of being a Hero of Justice were crushed into dust. Due to Rin’s imperfect summoning, Archer does not possess the same memories as Shirou, only key events that he puts together the first few days after his arrival. Even if he was once Shirou Emiya… he isn’t now. Archer is thoroughly cynical and sarcastic, especially to Shirou and his ideals. Archer was shown a life that had him executed for something he did not do, and as a Heroic Spirit he could not save the people he desperately lived for. Thus, Shirou Emiya became EMIYA, and sought to erase his own existence.

During the War, Archer is a strange one. Archer is one of the knight classes – the other two being Saber and Lancer. Usually Spirits in these classes were noble and knightly in their lives, and Archer was exactly that. However, unlike what the class says about him, Archer doesn’t always use projectile weapons. He is fonder of dual swords and magecraft, and he is not the only one – Gilgamesh is a sneaky bastard like this as well. His fake Noble Phantasm, Unlimited Blade Works, is a true Archer-class attack, even if it’s swords being shot at an enemy. As an Archer, he can shoot anything from his bow, including other weapons. Who even needs arrows?

Archer, by base stats, was not meant to be a strong Spirit. He didn’t have much skill in magic as Shirou Emiya, so all of his skill comes from determinedly advancing what little he had into becoming stronger, better. This can be one of his downfalls, as he cannot create a Noble Phantasm replica as strong as one needed to defeat, say, Saber. He works at creating armour and the like strong enough to withstand Noble Phantasms, as he knows his weaknesses.

As he despises Shirou, Archer constantly makes smart remarks about Shirou’s ideals. He grows tired of Rin putting off his death, attempting to kill him himself several times. Shirou reminds him of the things he used to believe in – he cannot deny the ideals he had once, though he can certainly hate them. In a way, he hates himself. Shirou has no idea who Archer is, nor does he let up on his ambition – something that annoys Archer fully. Archer fakes betraying his Master in order to break her Command Seal so that he can kill Shirou finally, but in a one on one fight with Shirou he does not attack while Shirou stabs him. Keeping himself alive, he returns at the end to save Rin. At the end of Unlimited Blade Works, Archer trusts Rin to keep Shirou on a path he will not regret. A final note on their relationship is that even when Archer is out to kill Shirou, he still throws advice at him, as if he could change what happens. “If you cannot defeat it, imagine something that can.”

As for his relationship with his Master, that's a lot different. They work together well, though they began rocky. Archer demanded that she stay out of the fight, but after showing him her power, he's accepted her fully. Archer enjoys making life as annoying for Rin as possible. As a tsundere, she often assaults him in return. Archer enjoys sitting back and watching her fret, then finally ends up by helping right at the end. Their relationship is strange, but he is loyal, if in an offhanded way. She complains that she wishes that she had been given a Saber; this bothers Archer quite a bit, and his childish, pouty side is revealed. He believes he’s totally better than a Saber! However, as much as he loves to troll her, Archer and Rin are a good team. In UBW, Archer is confident that Rin will take care of Shirou, creating a future for him that will not end the way Archer’s had. However, even if his goal is to kill Shirou, Archer still puts his life on the line for Rin – in the Fate route, he sacrifices himself in order for her escape to be assured, though this doesn’t mean he listens well. Rin uses a Command Seal on Archer almost immediately after summoning him due… well, Archer being Archer and ignoring her. He laughs and believes it was a waste. Other times, Archer refuses to back down from fights and Rin forces him with Command Seals. In the Fate route, Shirou ends up being the cause of Archer’s death and Rin is quite bitter, though holds no ill will. However, in the UBW ending she is granted one final goodbye to him. Archer enjoys provoking her, though he does not mean to insult. Often, they argue with each other until they cease to make sense. Despite this, they are a masterful team and Archer fully admits that he is the strongest because she was the one to summon him, that he could not wish for a better and more powerful Master than Rin Tohsaka.

As this application specifies on Unlimited Blade Works, this will detail his role in that route. Archer is cast as the antagonist for his goal of killing Shirou, dealing with a Master that is growing feelings for his enemy. Archer even goes as far to fake betraying Rin just to kill his opponent and to keep her safe – though it fails. When Shirou stabs him, Archer does not attack. He is convinced by Shirou that they are no longer enemies – which Shirou is no longer on the path that Archer had lived.

[personal profile] bitemark 2012-04-04 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Blade Brandier. The reason why she should be placed within this desired class is that respectively, in Fate/Stay Night, she can only be summoned as a Saber class. Literally, she can't be summoned in any other class. In the end, she's only meant to be using swords...
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: --

PERSONALITY:
It was if she was born for the sword, born from the sword.

When Saber is first introduced, her beauty and her poise should strike each person into a state of awe. Shirou is instantly surprised by her small frame yet immense power and a bit confused when it comes to her stoic disposition. As a Servant, Saber only speaks wisely as Shirou's ally from quick snaps, calm suggestions, or strong standings. Nevertheless, Saber proves to show people that she is self-sufficient, experienced in battle, chivalrous, and sometimes quite quirky. Though she tries to put up an objective front, there is more to her than one would think... Behind her fierce eyes and calm expression lie the legend and the burdens of a king.

There is a premonition that the daughter of King Uther will be the heir and, so forth, will claim the throne. Ever since she was born, she has already had something to fulfill and trained for it vigorously in order to achieve her goals. Despite being young, she took the oath of a knight in order to keep face in front of the public that would shun the idea of a woman being king. Basically, she is raised not as a woman, but as a knight and never did she think it was unfair, harsh, or anything otherwise. Shirou has brought up uneasiness with her being female and fending off enemies for him only for that sole reason. All she feels from that was surprise for even she did not take that into account. She even replies that “I am a warrior (knight), before I am a woman”. Then her other supporting details would be how Servants should not be regarded by their gender in the end and that it is silly for Shirou to even ponder too much upon it.

Being a king and a knight, she doesn't submit too easily to her personal feelings when at work... or at all, actually. She has spent most of her time acting as a knight and as King Arthur rather than herself. It's even more than apparent that this is how one should be if they were to take over the throne. In the novel, Saber's understanding of kingship lies within this line, “Becoming king means no longer being human. In short, a king is someone who kills everyone to protect everyone”. Not only must she keep her emotions tucked in properly, she understands that one needs to make sacrifices for the greater good. She is more than aware of the problems she may face on this path, but she is unfazed. Though these obstacles would make her heart go brittle as she grows bitter, she has never thrown the throne away. Her country is important to her and she cannot simply abandon it even if the inhabitants can seem like strangers. In the end, she still fights to protect those that are around her rather than giving her own needs attention. Well, it seems more like her needs surround protecting her country and fulfilling her duties.

“—Many people were smiling. I do not believe it would be a mistake.”

In the beginning, she has always known what she wanted and also what she must do in order for it to happen. Nevertheless, this heavy sense of duty also comes from the compassion and desire within her heart to protect her country and its people. It wasn't that she felt she was forced to do it, it was that she made the decision to do it. What she had to give up to even start the journey in succeeding was that in itself, her heart. “She threw away her heart. The young girl decided to protect in exchange for it.” This quote can simply show what is the trade-off and, really, it can be used to explain why she is chained to keeping face as a king. Like many, she wants to do what she can to protect everything, but in order to protect everyone she must sacrifice a few. The selflessness she provides can be used both as a shield and a poison, for when she is selfless she protects, but also she is wounded physically of even mentally in the process.

One can say that many of these burdens are due to the role she takes, but it has integrated into her life to the point where it has become simply who she is. It also shows in the way she speaks and addresses others. With each sentence, she keeps her tone and word choice professionally though there is a slim chance that she will let out some friendliness in a casual manner. She treats every person with high regards unless they don’t give her the same respect. It can be said whether in a fight or in a conversation that she would like to be treated as an equal. Having a lot of pride in her chivalry and ethics, she doesn’t fall too easily when she feels that she is insulted. From being a king, she also looks at things base by base in almost all situations objectively and tries not to take sides. While Archer does indeed attack Shirou (actually, he slashes them with one of those twin swords), she clearly understands what possible reasons as to why he might have and is satisfied with her Master returning seemingly untouched.

Saber is easily described as elegant on the battlefield and even out. Despite having picked up the sword at an early age, she can easily hold a porcelain cup filled with tea in grace. Though fierce and determined in battle, Saber tends to be softer outside the frontlines. Her gentle attributes show in how she sincerely cares for those close to her and just how it appears on her face. Yes, there are times where her stoicism starts cracking and some of her true colors start to seep out. It’s actually quite refreshing since most of the time her professional air makes people tense.

Her determination on the battlefield unfortunately also transfers into how she deals with things day-to-day, though it might actually be the reverse; her determination transfers onto the battlefield. She’s obstinate and will literally bark you up a tree sometimes. If you persevere enough to reject her plan of action to whatever it is, then you’re in for a roller-coaster. This may be hard to believe at first, but Saber can act pretty childish when things don’t go her way (which she probably thinks is the most efficient and best way in whatever situation unless said otherwise--long parentheses). She also sulks when she doesn't win... A bit of a sore loser, isn't she? She tends to back off when it doesn’t work to her favor, but then she starts acting a bit strange… if not, passive-aggressive despite how a compromise has been reached. Nevertheless, it isn’t too serious as long as you don’t mind a temporary period of dagger-stabbing looks. Putting that aside, she shows fondness of cute things and lions... And has a pretty big appetite. Actually, she has mercilessly beaten Shirou during training (ARMOR CLAD, MIND YOU) because he lazily let Taiga Fujimura cook one night and apparently it was difficult to eat. Yeah, I don't think I need to explain.

She still sounds pretty headstrong and heavy-duty, but she also has problems of her own. She takes her failures pretty hard, such as not being able to save her country from crumbling at a civil war. She also makes expressions unlike her goal-oriented self when down about her mistakes. Her emotional disposition is also a problem not only to others, but also to herself. She doesn't fare too well when one were to criticize her wishes and can easily break a bit when someone close to her doesn't seem to understand. Despite being rational and can actually pick up certain cues right on time, she can miss the main point greatly when it comes to her own well-being. One last thing... Complementing in how she sees herself as a knight before her gender, she can be insecure about her body and how it lacks that feminine touch. She mentions a couple of times about how she is too masculine (or has too much muscle) compared to Rin Tohsaka. It doesn't help that her body literally stunted growth once she pulled out the sword during her mid-teens.

All-in-all, Saber is your girl--knight and will always have your back. She is charismatic (able to lead a country) and reliable. Though her stone-like face may make those around her feel uneasy at first, it'll grow on you and perhaps you'll see the sides of Saber where she pouts and gives you the look of impending defiance. Unfortunately, she can be stubborn as a mule sometimes and might drive you up the wall until you comply. Then there are other times where she can be as gentle as spring's first bloom. Really, she is a girl that has taken a knight's oath. You cannot separate both identities without tearing apart her whole person.

CHARACTER NAME: Yoshiya "Joshua" Kiryuu
SERIES: The World Ends With You
CANON POINT: Post-game
APPEARANCE: Right here~ For a 15 year old boy, Joshua is a little on the small side, around 5'5" or 5'6" by estimation. For the most part, his looks can almost be described as feminine. He's fairly slender and frail-looking, with a slight, girlish face and very little muscle mass; he doesn't care much for physical activity, having told Neku that he doesn't "do sweat". His hair is an almost dusty color, closer to ash blonde, and his eyes are a deep violet.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Shadow Warlock. Canonly, he doesn't care for doing too much physically, and this includes jumping to dodge attacks - he simply sidesteps instead. Not to mention any melee-based class would involve sweating in some form or fashion. In canon, his form of attacking is using his cell phone to both summon junk from the sky and, later on, attack enemies with beams of energy.

Yoshiya "Joshua" Kiryuu | The World Ends With You | Reserved

[personal profile] leggierissimo 2012-04-06 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
PERSONALITY:

On the outside, Joshua is an incredibly enigmatic individual. He's evasive, overtly flamboyant and prissy, incredibly arrogant and a seeming know-it-all. Right from day one, he's already irritating Neku to no end with his teasing, avoidance of topics and pretentious nature, as well as his surprising amount of knowledge of the Game. By no means is his intelligence unwarranted, but for how much he knows, it does mark him as suspicious. After all, Players are usually oblivious as to the workings of the Game when they first begin to play.

It's very difficult at any given time to tell exactly what he's thinking, or even to determine if he's telling the full truth. His typical reaction to questions is to either dodge it entirely, or give bits and pieces of the answer, making it to where the person asking the question has to figure out the answer for themselves. Joshua is more than willing to make people work for their answers, rather than give it to them straight. Even so, he does tend to give quite a bit of advice and several positive thoughts, frequently telling Neku to expand his horizons and open up. Despite this, he rarely follows any of his own advice, keeping his own thoughts to himself and largely commenting on everything else instead.

Although outwardly friendly and willing to talk to any type of person, Joshua is a very self-centered, antisocial individual, preferring to do things his own way. Manipulative is his middle name. He knows what he wants to accomplish, and he knows exactly what to do or say to get it done. His true intentions are kept strictly to himself. This is partly due to the fact that in reality, he is the Game's Composer, and cannot let his identity be known.

Being the Composer means that he is the head of the Reaper's Game. It also means that he is the figurative God of Shibuya, where his word is law. He can create and destroy what he wishes, as he wishes it. The fact that he was willing to destroy all of Shibuya simply because he couldn't see any potential for change in it is scary enough. He has that little faith in people in general - which makes him surprisingly like Neku at the beginning of the game. It's this quality that helps them to bond and somewhat befriend each other. Fortunately for Shibuya, Neku had other partners to help him open up, and this change in Neku spawned an optimistic turn in Joshua regarding Shibuya, causing him to decide to give it a chance. Shibuya was also directly impacted - positively - by this change in Joshua, according to Mr. Hanekoma, showing just how connected Joshua is to the city.

On the inside, however, Joshua is simply incredibly lonely. Mr. Hanekoma says it himself, in that Joshua has been alone most of his life and never had very many friends at all. It makes sense, considering that the Composer stays hidden, only speaking to the Conductor or the Producer, and also in the fact that his position alone makes others either fear his power or want to kill him to obtain it themselves. Mr. Hanekoma even points out Joshua's loneliness to him at the end of the game, where they are seen on the top of Shibuya's 104 building, looking down on Neku and friends as they reunite. Joshua almost seems like he refuses to acknowledge this, as he leaves without a word, interrupting Mr. Hanekoma's sentence.

CHARACTER NAME: Pit
SERIES: Kid Icarus
CANON POINT: Directly after the end of Uprising
APPEARANCE: I am Pit! Servant of the Goddess of Light! Watch me end up making him a new costume for this game, though...;; Er, if it helps, he's been described as 'short',
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Adept Rogue Twin Blade/Steam Gunner. Since Pit can now use a variety of weapons and fighting styles, I found myself caught between the two he uses most in canon—the Bow, which doubles as a Twin Blade style weapon in melee combat, and the Steam Gunner, which is… rather self explanatory. Since Pit is quite adaptable I’d like to go with this setup if that’s alright!
PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: N/A

PERSONALITY:
Ever the energetic boy hero, it's hard to get Pit down, and don't even think about keeping him there. Though he's a bit naive and every bit still a child, he has a good heart and his bravery knows no bounds. He's willing to put his life on the line to help those in need-- going from battling on ground alongside humans who were besieged by Underworld troops to (nearly) irreparably damaging his body to save an ally. Also a devoted friend and servant to his Goddess, Pit has absolute faith in his friends and will follow them to the end.
When he's not being an angel-super-hero-- and often when he is-- Pit also has quite a sense of humour and often cracks jokes, to the delight and sometimes chagrin of others-- he's been described on multiple occasions as 'too upbeat'... but in his line of work, it doesn't hurt to have a good attitude. I mean, being turned into eggplants and prawn tempura all the time and being able to keep a happy face has to count for something, right?!
Used to fighting for the side of Light, Pit doesn't often question morality quite as much as his peers may; though the battles he's brought into are often with people of varying goals and ideals, to him everything is pretty much black and white. Pit smash bad guys, et cetera~! Unfortunately it seems to end up in a lot of collateral damage... good thing he's backed by a Goddess!

samples.
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:

Huh... so I guess this works like Palutena-Vision? Only a lot more compact. I keep having to squint!

So, uh, hi everybody! I'm Pit! I guess I'm new here, heh... I'm not exactly sure how I ended up in this place, but it's nice to meet you guys! Hope we can get along!

Alright, now that introductions are done with, does anybody know where I can get some food? Waking up in mysterious worlds really works up a guy's appetite!

THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
It seemed strange to be grounded this long after the war with the Underworld. Pit had gotten used to the feeling of flight thanks to Lady Palutena's powers, but now...
They were separated once again, and this time he was definitely awake for it.

It wasn't that the young angel was worried about anything happening to his Goddess or Skyworld; the Underworld had been defeated quite soundly in the last battle, and it was unlikely that another attack would happen for some time. And if it did, then Pittoo could step in and... wait, no. He wasn't too sure about that idea. In any case, things would surely work out back home.
Really, Pit felt a little ashamed at his reasoning. He should have been worried for his homeland, but in actuality his unease was, honestly, more selfish than that.

What stung more than anything-- and he tried his best to hide it, he really did-- was that he was lonely. Not in the sense that he lacked friends, for he'd made many here, but the absence of Lady Palutena hit him a bit harder than he'd have liked. After all, they were practically inseparable back home--
The angel shook himself, feathers and all. This was no time to mope around! Patting his cheeks sharply to wake himself up, Pit began to inspect his surroundings more closely. Right... he was supposed to meet someone around here, wasn't he? Well, it wasn't good to keep a friend waiting! With a flap of his wings, he started off into the field. Maybe it wasn't time to go back to Skyworld, but while he was here, he was determined to make the best of things.
