ᴀᴘᴘʟɪᴄᴀᴛɪᴏɴs
(applications are closed.) opening october 8th at 00:01 GMT-8. SO, you've read the F.A.Q., the rules, checked that the character you're interested in is free and not reserved, and now you're ready to apply? Great! We're ready to accept you! The application description is below, and the form is ready for your copypasta convenience just underneath it! Please submit all applications in comments to this post with the subject "chara name | series". Have a seat, and drink some tea. We'll get right to you! At this time, we do NOT allow application challenges. Sorry about that! It's all first-come, first-serve. You can apply for TWO (2) characters per round, with a maximum of SIX (6) characters allowed altogether. RESERVES are not necessary. We run on a first-come, first-served system, but if you reserve your place is guaranteed for apps. REQUESTS will always be as clear as possible on what we believe was lacking and expect to see written into the application, but feel free to ask for clarification and we'll reply as soon as possible. You have seventy-two (72) hours to revise, or your application will be revoked. Although you're more than welcome to ask for an extension if for some reason you're unable to complete in time, within reason. REJECTIONS will also have clearly-stated reasons, and you'll be more than welcome to re-apply next month. However, we ask that if you're rejected three times in a row, you please try your hand at another character. WHEN ACCEPTED, please read and follow the directions in the welcome copypasta closely! We don't ask for a terrible amount, but we do note that some things are mandatory for the game and it helps greatly with organization! DID YOU PLAY IN HOLYRELIC BEFORE? We have a special rule for that! If you're repicking a character you had in HR before we closed previously, we're upholding our promise that your character can come back with their memories, THREE (3) event items of your choosing, and half of their levels. (I.E: Gauche was level 42 thereabouts, he'll be 21 to start.) Just comment to the apps with an updated player/character section to reclaim! No need for samples. :) Applications can be screened for privacy after they've been judged, so please add a note if you'd like it screened. player. NAME: Your name or handle. JOURNAL: Your personal journal. I.E: ![]() E-MAIL: Your e-mail for mod contact records! PLURK&MESSENGER(S): CHARACTERS PLAYED: Characters you currently play in ![]() character. CHARACTER NAME: Your character's name. SERIES: The series your character is from; anime, manga, book, television, video game, you name it! Just give us a link. CANON POINT: The point in time that your character is being applied from. APPEARANCE: A link to an image, and/or an optional description if there's anything not covered in the image. DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: The class you'd like your character to be! We ask that you follow any canon inclination towards fighting types and state what they were previously, but if your character is someone that has never held a sword before, never took karate, and comes from a regular world with no magic, please provide a brief reasoning as to why you've picked what class you did! PREVIOUSLY IN HOLYRELIC: ONLY FOR PLAYERS FROM HR'S LAST INCARNATION! Please note what their halved level will be and the three event items you'd like to keep. :) (if this doesn't apply to you-- 98% of you-- just remove this line. ♥) PERSONALITY: Your character's personality; this needs to be written by you, though! We'd like at least two solid paragraphs, although three would be great! samples. FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE: A first-person sample-- or a journal/action post-- in the game's context. Anything you might use as a post in the game would be just fine here, but you don't need to use what you put in your application as your first post! Please do keep in mind that while journal posts are more natural to write for samples, we have no network in The World-- everything is face to face. All entries to the main community will be action posts! :) THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: A third-person sample-- or log style-- that accurately displays your character's personality and motivations. Setting doesn't matter! We just ask that you please not write a sample about your character first arriving, because it greatly limits their usual personality and reactions. We aren't too particular about length but please write at least two or three paragraphs so we have something to work with! Also, if you've previously been accepted with another character and you're currently in the game, you do NOT need to write a third-person sample! |

Quistis Trepe | Final Fantasy VIII | Not reserved 1/2
NAME: Arie.
JOURNAL:
E-MAIL: munaissa@live.com.
CONTACT INFO: ariekain (AIM).
CHARACTERS PLAYED: N/A.
character.
CHARACTER NAME: Quistis Trepe.
SERIES: Final Fantasy VIII
CANON POINT: Post-game.
APPEARANCE: boop and beep.
DESIRED CLASS & REASONING: Quistis’s weapon of choice is a whip, and she hasn’t had any experience with swords that I am aware of. But as none of the classes involve the use of whips, I decided to go with Twin Blade, which emphasizes speed. As someone who uses whips, Quistis would have to have a fairly fast reaction time. Plus, I don’t think she would be able to handle a single, heavy sword very easily.
PERSONALITY: Quistis Trepe was an instructor at Balamb Garden, and as such, she can be serious, quiet, and restrained. Of course, she is also friendly in her own way and has a very calm disposition. She tends to keep to herself, and would rather not be the subject of praise and attention. She had a fan club at the Garden because of her popularity among her students, but it doesn’t appear that she encouraged nor discouraged the club’s existence.
She is only eighteen, and so when she was a teacher at the Garden, her young age caused problems since her students rarely took her seriously. As for her fellow teachers, they perceived her quietness and restraint for maturity, and as such, they forgot that she was still young and still learning.
It is largely because of the way that people perceive her that has caused Quistis to believe that she has to keep her thoughts and concerns to herself. She does seem a little lonely, and although she would like to branch out and form deeper relationships with people, her hesitancy and to some extent, timidity, keep her from doing so. She is prone to periods of depression and despondency because of this.
Nevertheless, Quistis is adamant about the fact that the Garden is her home. She was adopted when she was younger, but for reasons that haven’t been revealed, it didn’t work out. She was sent to the Garden when she was ten, and shortly after at age fifteen, she became a SeeD. Two years later, she became an instructor. I think the fast progression between these milestones forced her to mature quickly, but it also prevented her from learning everything she needed to know.
So, in a nutshell, Quistis is a young woman who had a lot of responsibility placed upon her, and she maintains a calm and collected façade, but on the inside, she is a bit emotional and sensitive. She also tends to view herself as an older sister, especially when it comes to her friends; she thinks that she has to look after them, and showing her true feelings would only get in the way of that.
Quistis Trepe | Final Fantasy VIII | Not reserved 2/2
FIRST-PERSON SAMPLE:
[Near the Chaos Gate in Mac Anu is a tall young woman who is dressed as a Twin Blade. She is presently inspecting her Relic, but soon enough, her attention is caught by the numbers of people who are passing her by.
Quistis waves her hand in the air, hoping to catch their attention.]
Excuse me. Where is this place? Clearly, I’m nowhere near Balamb Garden.
I believe that if this were a new mission, I would know more about it and what it involves, but I’m actually at a loss. So, if you don’t mind, an explanation would be helpful and very much appreciated.
THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE:
Quistis clears her throat a few times, in hopes that doing so will help her to speak. For some reason, words just will not come right now. Perhaps it is the subject matter. After all, it is not one that she enjoys talking about. She crosses her arms in front of her and wills herself to begin to speak. Squall had just asked her a question, and he was standing there looking at her, waiting for her to say something. It seemed strange, because he of all people should have known the answer. But as it seemed that he did not, or was pretending not to, she felt that responding with silence was not appropriate.
“If there is one thing that I wish had never happened…” She pauses to collect herself one final time. “I wish I had never received that letter of dismissal.” Quistis sighs heavily. “I still think there was so much I could have done as an instructor, but maybe I’m wrong. They told me I failed as an instructor. You know that, Squall, even if you didn’t want to listen at the time.”
Squall nods slowly, not saying anything. Quistis looks sideways at him. “You still don’t want to hear this, do you? Then why did you ask?”
He shrugs his shoulders, being his usual taciturn self. “I guess you looked like you wanted to talk. So talk, if you want to.”
“Are you sure? I can always go talk to a wall,” she says with a hint of a smile on her face.
Squall shakes his head. “It’s fine.” It’s just like her to remind him of what he’d said that one time.
“I don’t even know what else to say. I think I’m just disappointed that I didn’t get to do more as an instructor. Did I even teach you anything?” Quistis is half talking to herself now. “Never mind. It doesn’t even matter now.”
“Yeah.”
“Well, it’s cold out here, Squall. I’m going inside now.” She takes a few steps forward before looking behind her. “Are you coming?”
”Sure. I don’t have anything else to do.” He follows her to the doors and they walk inside together.
“Thanks, Squall.” Quistis smiles at him. “This was much better than talking to a wall.”

WELCOME to Holy Relic! There are a few things we'd like to ask of you before jumping in, so please read below and head on over to our welcome post with some ideas for journal setup and a slightly more detailed rehash of the steps below.
(one.) Create your character journal if you haven't already done so, and join the following game communities:
(two.) Comment to our taken series list if your canon hasn't already been posted (or you're an original character, in which case they go in the 'original characters' series post!).
(three.) We have an AIM chat at holyrelic that everyone is more than welcome to join, but if you don't want invites, just let a mod know! There's also a mod plurk for events, app/reserve opening and closing, and asking for occasional quick opinions.
Lastly, we have a comprehensive permissions post with comments by anyone that needs replying to-- this would be for characters with abilities that affect others, such as ability-copying, cannibalism, random violence and so on. If your character has an ability where you'll need permission from others, please make a post in their journal and link to it on the comprehensive permissions post. Then please comment around to any listed posts and help your fellow players out!
Welcome to The World!
